As I review this book, the Christmas season has been put behind us for yet another year. In my opinion, this collection of classics , hymns and poetry, will be one to return to year after year. This is a fine grouping of excerpted stories worthy of revisiting.

An excellent collection of classic Christmas stories. From an e-galley perspective it is well put together, but I suspect the physical copy would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves Christmas!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dexterity for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An evergreen Christmas is a beautiful collection of Christmas short-stories,
poems by authors like: Lucy Maud Montgomery, O. Henry, Louisa May Alcoot,
Anne Bronte, Henry W. Longfellow...

Tilly's Christmas by Louisa May Alcott was one of my favorite. Tilly is a
a sweet girl living with her mother struggling to make ends meet but her story
reminds us the importance of kindness. "He can give you one thing, Tilly the
pleasure of doing good. That is one of the sweetest thing in life and the poor
can enjoy it as well as the rich."

I also like Christmas Bells by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow a poem written
during the Civil war for his son.

It was also a pleasure to The gift of the Maggi by O. Henry again this year!

Evergreen Christmas is a wonderful collection of stories. I loved reading these short stories. This ebook would be wonderful for someone who only has a short amount of time to read. Here is a summary of some of my favorites. Tilly’s Christmas - what a beautiful story the man overhearing the children talk and leaving special presents on their doorstep Christmas morning. Johnnies Christmas going to grandmas house was fun going home was not. A Visit from St. Nicholas Everyone loves the night before Christmas recitation. Clorindas Gifts she sends a letter about her life, offering forgiveness for a wrong and she found the meaning of giving of herself.A Christmas Turkey and how it came by Louisa Mae Alcott story said people are very gentle and kind at Christmastime. I love all the stories that use all the words of song Such as Little town of Bethlehem. Little Gretchen and the Wooden Shoe by Elizabeth Harrison was such a beautiful story of a little girl wishing for a toy who finds happiness and joy in a little bird who finds a place out of the cold in the wooden shoe.

“An Evergreen Christmas” is a delightful mix of old stories and poems, mostly from the Victorian era. It celebrates Christmas in an old-timey way, but those of us who enjoy Victorian vibes, no matter how goody-two-shoes they are, will get a special kick out of it.

You’ll find O. Henry in this book, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Dickens, of course. But there’s also Christina Rossetti and L.M. Montgomery, plus many more.

This is a fast and pleasing read, and children will enjoy it as well. There are many old-fashioned customs and ideas here that could spark conversions with little ones. And speaking of “old-fashioned,” the attitudes of the 19th and early 20th centuries have not been cleaned up, so bear in mind that you will encounter ideas that many of us nowadays don’t subscribe to.

You’ll meet good kids and a lot of poor families in this treasury, which is no bad thing. It behooves us to recall the poor in a season of over-the-top spending and the Victorians had no problem piling the moral lessons on. I don’t mind that a bit.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book to review.

What a nostalgic literary collection!

This collection of prose will ring in the season with nostalgic Christmases of old from classic authors we all enjoy. Stories of Christmas, when many were forced to come up with unique ways to give, some resorting to intangible gifts that touch the heart and bring joy to the reader. This collection is one that can be shared around the Christmas tree, by the fireplace, and at bedtime.

29 stories, songs and poems from classic authors: L M Montgomery, Charles Dickens, O Henry, Louisa May Alcott, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Anne Bronte, to name a few. These selections are suitable for an array of ages, young to old.

I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

I adored this collection of Christmas stories and poems. It has classics like "Twas the Night Before Christmas" but many others I personally have not read.

I can't wait to get a physical copy to add to my collection.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

An Evergreen Christmas is a fantastically well curated collection of Christmas poems and short stories. I have been enjoying a short story and poem or two each day, and I have not read a dud in the bunch. I love that they are collected from well loved classic authors. I appreciated that some were more common to find in Christmas anthologies, while others were less common, so there was a nice balance. I hope to add this collection to my shelves in the future. Because the stories and poems are short, this book read extremely quick.

If you are looking for a nice Christmas collection to gift someone or for yourself, this book would be a great idea.

I received an eARC from Dexterity through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

I received an ARC of An Evergreen Christmas, by many famous authors. What a great timeless collection of Christmas stories, from some of the best authors, Charles Dickens, Louisa May Alcott, L.M. Montgomery, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and many many more. Some stories, and songs I have heard before, and some were brand new to me.
