For fans of the Hallmark Channel and Gilmore Girls, AS SEEN ON TV is a delightful rom-com about a city girl who goes in search of small-town happiness, only to discover life and love are nothing like the TV movies.

Adi and Finn were such a cute couple, and I was instantly hooked on their story. I both read the physical and audio formats, and the narrator for the audiobook was a great choice!

*many thanks to Forever and Hachette Audio for the gifted copy for review.

I'm a sucker for Hallmark, so when I saw this book is a mixture of Hallmark and Gilmore Girl vibes, I was here for it. I enjoyed following Adina on her adventure to Pleasant Hallow to find and write her next big article to achieve her journalism career dream. Pleasant Hallow is supposed to be the magical Hallmarkish town. However, it's one disappointment after another. The only bright side to Pleasant Hallow is Finn, but Adi needs to determine if following her heart is meant losing her dream job. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend checking it out. The narration of this book was well done.

Thank you, Forever and Hachette Audio, for my gifted copies.

I was instantly hooked on this story and thought the narrator was great.

However, that only lasted for a while. I listened to the audiobook until almost 60% and I was getting really annoyed with Adina. I just found her kind of annoying so I stopped listening to the audiobook and picked up where I left off in the ebook and I ended up enjoying it a lot more.

I think I just don’t vibe with this narrator.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I found this story boring, and the narrator did not help move the story along either. I ended up not finishing it and don't have plans to go back to it.

As Seen on Tv was a wonderfully narrator romance novel.

Emily Lawrence’s narration was flawless, I would definitely listen to her narration in the future.

I loved Finn and Adina! Adina is a girl after my heart with all her love of Hallmark! She soon finds out that life is not a Hallmark movie, unfortunately. A truly charming story.

This was such a fun take on small town romance! New Yorker Adi is a sucker for hallmark movies, so when she learns a nearby town is living the life of a movie plot, Adi goes to write the story of her life. Except, Pleasant Hollow is nothing like TV. The locals aren't welcoming, there's no tight knit community, and the one person Adi hits it off with is also from NYC.

I read this right after reading a small town romance and really enjoyed how this novel played with those tropes to create a different kind of small town romance.

Described as a cross between the Gilmore Girls and a Hallmark, I was all in. The first time I tried to listen I had a little trouble connecting with the story so I set it aside and when I came back to try again I enjoyed it. So maybe it was me.

It was a cute rom com listen. I enjoyed Emily Lawrence’s narration as it added to the story.

Not sure if there is a trope for not quite knowing how to adult, but if there is, this book uses it. It has all the things you look for in a romance including obstacles and misunderstandings, but comes together in the end with a satisfying ending.

When Adi travels from New York City to a small town to find the perfect story to pitch and jumpstart her career in journalism, she unexpectedly falls for a fellow New Yorker who also happens to be there and extends her stay. As Seen on TV reminded me of a Hallmark movie, which was definitely intentional given that they are referenced multiple times in the plot. Other reviews say this story reminded them of Gilmore Girls, but I have not watched that series so I can't make the comparison myself. As far as romance books go, this one was just okay. I didn't get attached to Adi (Actually, I found her quite annoying at some points in the book) and I probably will forget about this book within a few weeks.

This was a fun and fast read and I will recommend it to some friends on Instagram already. Thanks for the arc

Emerging journalist and city girl, Adina Gellar, needs to get away. She is done with dating in New York City, and has recently found out that her mother is in financial difficulty and that their apartments are going condo. She needs to earn some money and has a great idea for a story. Being a huge fan of made for TV romances, she finds Pleasant Hollow, and that a big-city real estate magnate is targeting it for development. This will be the story that will earn her a full-time position at the online magazine she has coveted, and maybe she will find that perfect romance as well. But Pleasant Hollow is nothing like the towns on TV, no quirky, eccentric residents, no small businesses and quaint shops that will be pushed out. Doing an about face, she has to find a different story in this town and fast.

As Seen on TV is a Hallmark and Gilmore Girls lover's delight. I know it has received mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed this story. I really enjoyed the references to all the small town clichés and characters. What Maggie finds in Pleasant Hollow is the opposite of those shows, but it was quite amusing to see how she handles it. She never finds the developer, but meets the contractor/engineer who is responsible for the development, Finn Adams, and he is exactly what she was hoping for. He is a wonderful, swoon worthy character. He had a rough life, and has pulled himself up by his bootstraps. He works for many charities and has to work some jobs that are not what he wants to do in order to be allowed to do the ones he wants. He is smart and has great instincts. I like that Finn makes Maggie think about her goals and inspires her to do something she hadn't expected. Maggie grows a lot in this story. She is a bit immature at the beginning, perhaps living and being supported by her mom has added to that, but she changes by the end of the story. This is a romance, but also a story that pokes fun at all those stereotypical movies I love. This is a fun rom-com, complete with a meet cute and some angst to put some speed bumps in the romance. I am glad I picked this one up. Emily Lawrence narrates this story and does a nice job with it. There were times I thought the pacing was a bit off, but overall, I enjoyed her performance.

This was such a cute twist on a Hallmark movie setting. There is charm, character depth and growth, steam and the feels all wrapped up in As Seen on TV.

Adina is a great female lead. Sure she has her uncertainties but I really liked how she knew who she was and what she was capable of throughout the story. She just needed the break or inspiration to get her where she wanted to go.

The relationship between Adina and Finn was swoony and I found myself intrigued with the mystery surrounding Finn’s past. The story went deeper than I expected but was still able to maintain a lightheartedness that I crave in this genre.

Narration by Emily Lawrence was superb; making this fun and charming book a great one to listen to.

I love that this book can be considered anti-Hallmark. Hallmark movies are sweet, gushy, picturesque and make you think of a nice cup of hot chocolate in front of a fire. Well, don't expect this when Adina Gellar lands in Pleasant Hollow. Yes, it is a small town. Well, it stops there. No festivals, everyone doesn't know one another and each other's business...nothing you would expect if you are thinking you are walking onto a Hallmark movie set.

As a up-and-coming journalist Adi has been burned when it comes to the dating seen. Perhaps it is because being from New York the dating pool was just so large. Headed to Pleasant Hollow should change things for Adi. Meanwhile, that journalism career? Well, it certainly hasn't hit its stride as of yet. So, Adi has the brilliant idea to present Pleasant Hollow as idyllic as possible, even if she has to make a few things up.

Meeting Finn gives Adi pause. Has she found the perfect man already? Was simply moving to the outskirts of New York all she needed to do to reach out for her chance at love? With a story idea that will finally launch her journalism career, accompanied by the gorgeous Finn - well, Adi is on her way.

Having watched just about every Hallmark movie ever produced has Adi writing her own story. Can she get a homemade pie? Stop in an ice cream shop? Well, considering the fact that Finn is a developer and that he has huge plans for the very small town, well, that rather bursts Adi's bubble. Will the town's members side with Adi in her dreams of something quaint, or will they side with Finn and see nothing but dollar signs when considering the developments that are being planned?

Conflicts abound in this adorable story by Meredith Schorr. Proving that it is okay to dream, to plan, to change minds, all things the loveable Adi does. Not only does Adi work hard at creating her dream small town, she has the chance at love when it comes to Finn. I loved that the two were complete opposites, especially when it came to their ideals. With other supporting characters, including the Adi's lovely mother, this book was truly a delightful read. The blurb compares this book to the Gilmore Girls and that comparison could not be more appropriate when you see Adi's wonderful relationship with her mother.

The fact that I had this book as an audiobook ARC gave me the feels of watching a movie come to life, because that is exactly what this book did. Emily Lawrence, As Seen on TV's narrator, captured the characters perfectly and this made for a nice, pleasant afternoon of reading.

Here is the kicker when it comes to me - I don't watch Hallmark movies and I never saw even one episode of Gilmore Girls. However, with popular culture being what it is, I could quite easily connect this book to Hallmark movies and also to the television show. That alone is what made this book really work for me. For the author to give me strong vibes, strong connections to those iconic movies and that memorable TV show proves that she knows her readers well. Of course, I can see weeks and months of binge watching ahead, all thanks to this pleasant read - apropos as the town was Pleasant Hollow.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Who doesn't love Hallmark movies? They are the perfect getaway from the daily monotony, Girl meets boy, both fall in love, and live together happily ever after. Sigh.

I picked this book up for the premise. It was good. Adina "Adi" Geller is a 25-year-old journalist who wants to make it big in the world of journalism. She lives in New York with her mother and is a huge Hallmark fan. She often wonders how life in small towns could be.

When she hears of a big developer buying property in Pleasant Hollow, she is stirred. This is the perfect story of the big, bad builder stomping on the dreams of the simple villagers! But when she reaches Pleasant Hollow for a story, she is in for a nasty surprise.

For one, nobody in Pleasant Hollow is pleasant. They lack basic manners and don't think twice about audibly grumbling or throwing nasty looks at newcomers. Moreover, nobody cares either way about the new development.

Adina is growing frantic. What will happen if she doesn't get her story here? Will she ever be able to make it as a journalist?

But then she meets Finn Adams at Pleasant Hollow and her life changes. Could he be her Hallmark hero?

The Positives:

1. Pleasant Hollow - Though a village, it does not conform to any stereotypes (there are no October festivals, gasp!) It plays a major role in the book, though, the peaceful setting a stark contrast to the frantic books written about NY.

2. Finn Adams - He is a good man, an honest one, and he is good in bed too!

3. The writing - Breezy and quick

The Negatives:

1. Adina Geller - She came off as too young and immature. In fact, I had to go back and ascertain that she is 25 and not 15 as the voice went. She acts impulsively and has zero control over her actions. She claims to have been a journalist for at least the last couple of years but has no idea how to approach a story or make it work in her favour. Throughout the book, others give her ideas and she works on them. She asks the wrong questions and is too in the face for the villagers. She also seems too set in her ideas and does not want to believe that villages in movies are hyped.

2. The romance - Adina and Finn look at each other and fall in love?? Maybe I am too old and cynical now but this insta-love does not work for me.

Overall, this was a good one-time read if you are looking for something light with an HEA.

3 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Hatchette Audio for the ARC.

Life-long New Yorker Adina Gellar is tired of looking for her own love story in the big city and failing spectacularly. In her dreams - and attested to by every Hallmark movie - Adi is destined to meet her true love in a quaint and quirky small-town setting. So when the opportunity presents for Adi to tell the story of small-town Pleasant Hollow going up against a big corporate developer.

Except when Adi arrives in Pleasant Hollow, it's anything but quaint and quirky and it's not really even that Pleasant. Still trying to find the story, Adi goes straight to the construction site for answers, only to run into project manager Finn Adams. If Pleasant Hollow wasn't what Adi expected Finn is equally just as surprising, and attractive.

With her job hanging by a thread, Adi will have to figure out a new story to tell instead of trying to get the town to fit into her narrative.

Emily Lawrence has a voice that I feel like I've heard before. Although going through the list of other books she's narrated, I haven't listened to them. But I think it's good to have a narrator that you immediately feel comfortable with which is how I felt. It didn't take me any time to get into the story as sometimes happens when you have to acclimate yourself to the narrator's inflection and voice. I thought that Emily Lawrence did a great job with each character, really making them stand out on their own and being able to identify who was speaking and when.

As an unashamed Hallmark lover, the minute I read the synopsis for As Seen on TV I knew I would read it. The idea that Adi's expectations come crashing down the moment she sets foot in Pleasant Hollow is like a cherry on top of a cake. I really enjoyed the idea of our perceptions being sometimes too high, especially when it comes to the influence of the love stories we see on tv and in movies. I mean seriously who doesn't want a picture-perfect romance and a sweet meet-cute to talk about?

But the reality is often grittier and while Adi understands this, it's still wonderful to think about the dream. What I think Adi forgets, however, is that sometimes the things in life that aren't so perfect are what really makes relationships shine brighter, because you understand what you're fighting for, in a sense.

I really loved the initial idea of turning the small town ideal on its head, especially coupled with the fact that Adi starts to develop feelings for the person who is supposed to be the "villain" of the piece. But I thought there was a point where Meredith Schorr decided to add one too many conflicts to Adi's plate. There were quite a few about-faces as Adi realizes she has to get a different story, and then issues faced with differing views on the relationship between Adi and Finn, then there are familial problems that grace the page as well. Overall, I felt like it was too much to fit into one package.

The sparks between Adi and Finn were electric. I really liked these two people who are supposed to be on opposite sides of an issue and find out they're really very similar when all is said and done. As their relationship progresses I felt like we lost a little bit of Pleasant Hollow, and while I understand that it was never really about the town - more about Adi's own hopes and dreams - I wanted to care a little bit more since it was the thing that brought Adi and Finn together in the first place.

Despite the story feeling a little full, I still really enjoyed it. This was the first book by Meredith Schorr that I read and I'm definitely interested in seeing what she has coming up next!

I loved everything about this book! The characters were fantastic. The references of Gilmore Girls, Sex and the City, and New York living had me sucked in from the very beginning. I was 100% rooting for the main characters' love story. If you are looking for a fun summer read, I highly recommend this book!

Did not always love this book. The narrator had too much invested in a week long relationship ..Ultimately I enjoyed the ending.

DNF at 40% This one just wasn't for me. I didn't care for the narrator's male voice. I also felt like the writing was very cheesy and unpolished.

This was not as cute as I was hoping for. The main character, Adi, was very unrealistic and immature. I found her expectations of life outside the big city to be ridiculous for someone her age, especially someone who studied Journalism. If you're basing your expectations of life around Hallmark movies, you're going to be be woefully disappointed. Life is just life. Some people are rude, some are kind, some want commercial progress, some want to hold on to tradional shops and markets. Most places offer a combination of both. It's just as bad as people having pre-concieved notions of big city life based on Sex and the City. Also, the romance fell flat for me - I didn't feel the romance. This will likely work for some, but wasn't for me.
