Sewing Love Handmade Clothes for Any Body, by Sanae Ishida was just that.
Sewing that’s carefully thought out with a fairly simplistic task of sewing. The whole thing had a minimalistic feel. I’m no minimalist but I’m all about simplicity. And to be fair I only like a hand full of things to wear. So that’s why I wanted to read this book.
The author opens with her life and confesses that she was lazy and thought sewing to be to hard. Thus, creating this book for such a person as me.
The book shares the foundations of sewing and a project list. With lots and lots of pictures. My favorite part is the “common issues” parts. I thought they were very helpful. As far as projects , I was drawn to the dresses and outerwear. I haven’t sewn anything yet but thought the book was doable.
Thanks Sasquatch Books via NetGalley.
I will post on GR, Instagram and Amazon closer to publication date.

Sewing Love was a delight to read through and I am so excited to try and make one of my own pieces using the patterns available in the book! Sanae Ishida lays out the process of clothes-making in a practical, easy-to-follow, yet whimsical way. The way she interweaves her personal narrative into the book made me rethink the way I view my own body and how I determine the choice of clothes I wear. It was also really wonderful to see such diverse models throughout, diverse in body shape, age, and ethnicity.

Thank you NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
