This is great basic, average baker, cake recipe book for many occasions.

Would get this as a gift for a friend.

This book has recipes for 45 cakes, split into chapters based on the type of pan used: Bundt and Tube, Round, Square and Rectangular, and Loaf.
In the Introduction, the author says the book has "cakes in all shapes and forms for every mood and occasion," and that the recipe style "skews classic with a twist." I don't feel the title of Everyday Cakes is very fitting, as many of the recipes use ingredients that are very seasonal or specialty. Two of the 45 cakes have rhubarb as a main ingredient/flavor. Others contain items like hibiscus, port cherries, cardamom, persimmons, and lavender - I don't think these are "everyday" ingredients in most people's kitchens.
I loved that the Getting Started section covers tools and ingredients, with specific recommendations for pan brands and what ingredients were used to develop the recipes. I also liked some of the tips sprinkled throughout.
Rather than having multiple photos of some of the cakes and some ingredient photos, I would have preferred at least one photo of each cake. The photos included were beautiful.
Overall, a good book but more specialized than the impression I got from the title.

Recipe chapters broken up by categories include bundt, square, rectangular result in delish cakes that the author is able to take beyond just your standard. Yellow birthday cake with a whipped malt chocolate buttercream frosting is above the typical and the Turkish coffee twist instead of standard brew adds a different flavor component to the crumb cake.

Those of us that have many cake recipes books should consider adding Everyday Cake to our cookbook shelf just to have the unique twist on the basics.

The author’s approach to adding what I consider to be non-typical ingredients across a range of cakes in different sizes, formats and flavors is what makes this cookbook stand out. My cake to bake first is tres leches. Why? Because I cannot resist this twist of using traditional Indian Golden Milk in the recipe.

Thank you NetGalley for the early read. As someone who loves cookbooks and baking and cooking, I enjoyed reading this book. It contains a large selection of cake recipes with directions that are clear and easy to follow along with.

Everyday Cake is one of those baking books I am excited to join my shelves of recipes. I loved the diversity of flavors in this book. From a beautiful and simple zucchini, double chocolate bundt cake to a decadent and unique parsnip and cranberry maple cake, this book has flavors for everyone.

My wishes for this book were that there really were more "everyday" recipes. A lot of these felt very fancy, with ingredients not all bakers will have readily available. This is something I would recommend to add to a bakers library if theyre looking to expand past standard recipes.

I loved the photos through the book, the cakes all looked delicious, even when I was questioning some flavors. I would have loved to have seen more in action baking shots included to give bakers insight to the processes. Although Chesnakova did give readers my personal favorite part of recipe books... measurements by weight!! I always feel like I can trust the recipe a little better if I can follow it down to the gram.

Overall a beautiful book with fun recipes that I am excited to try out!

A delightful new book, Everyday Cake is beautiful and has a diverse array of cake recipes. My main complaint is that it's too short! But I shouldn't complain - this isn't an exhaustive cake bible and doesn't claim to be. Instead, it's easy cakes that can be made on the fly - and, yes, it includes weight measurements. Which has become one of my top things i look for in a cookbook.

I used to not be a cake person. Until I realized the different types of cake that didn't necessarily come from a box. With a new appreciation for baking and baked goods (due in part to the British Bakeoff and being more open to trying new baked goods), I was excited to see the recipes in Everyday Cake, like rhubarb and buttermilk (a new one for me for sure); grapefruit poppy seed cake with hibiscus glaze, pear-walnut cake with spelt and cardamom --- I drool as I type this. A beautifully laid out bake book with ingredients I can easily find, simple recipes (though I'm a fan of numbered instructions) and gorgeous photos, I'm excited to get my bake on.

Divided up into different sections based on cake types instead of by flavor, which is helpful for looking up based on materials I have at home. Found many recipes I am interested in trying including many I have not thought of before. I'm excited to try many bundt cakes!

Cakes, cakes and more cakes. There is a cake for every occasion and a cake flavor for every taste bud. This will be your go to cookbook for your future cakes. Hints. tips and suggestions are included to make sure that your cake turns out perfect every time. Every type of cake pan you might possibly want to use are listed with suggestions. The one thing I have trouble with was included, how to get a bundt cake out without some sticking. If you follow the instructions in this book you to can become a master cake baker. Now to just pick which one you want to start with. Maybe it's an Apple Sharlotka or a Fudgy Devil's Food Sheet cake. You have lots of choices.

There are few desserts that I enjoy more than cake. I've always been a cake fiend. My preferences tend to lean towards the cream-filled and fruit-topped varieties, but I also believe that when you're craving a slice of chocolate cake, nothing else will do.

A lot of these cakes are a little more elevated than what I'd normally reach for at a bakery or even dream of making at home. It makes them exciting. I want to try them all twice over.

That said, it's still a book of 45 cakes so there's only so much variety you can inject into that. Even still, it's one of the better cakes-only cookbooks I've read. I'd have liked more photos but then, I always like a lot of food photography in my cookbooks. All said, it's a good one.

'Everyday' and 'cake' are two words that should always go together. The book is wonderfully laid out with pictures of almost every recipe (and includes weight measurements!!).. I made the Buttermilk Rhubarb bundt cake and brought it to work and everyone was absolutely raving about it. The crumb was incredible. I can't wait to make the Turkish Coffee Crumb Cake and Cannoli Ricotta Cake next.

Lovely recipe book. The photos are beautiful, the instructions clear and detailed. The intro about supplies is valuable and helpful.
I like the fact that there are some unique and creative recipes here but nothing that is overwhelmingly complex. Variety abounds.
The family enjoyed the ones I made and this is a fun addition to a cake collection.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I experienced a sugar coma while reading this cake book, I’m giving it 5 big stars for originality, tempting recipes, and beautiful, mouth watering photos!

This book starts out with some explanation for getting started and there are some helpful tips sprinkled throughout the book but this author isn’t messing around with words when there is cake to bake! I almost didn’t make it out of the first chapter featuring Bundt cakes! This delectable section includes easy to follow recipes for Sugared Jelly Donut Bundt Cake for those days you can’t get to an actual jelly donut. Also included is a recipe for Grapefruit Poppy Seed Cake with Hibiscus Glaze (you can find hibiscus leaves in any tea shoppe, don’t let this scare you!), as well as Gingerbread Bundt Cake with Lemon Mascarpone Icing, YUM! The Loaf Cake chapter was my other favorite, who doesn’t love an easy, “just for me” loaf cake? Just kidding! But seriously, how does a fancy loaf of Marbled Matcha Pound Cake with Berry Compote or Roasted Pumpkin Spice Cake with Tahini Glaze sound about right now? But it was the possibility of a CANNOLI RICOTTA LOAF CAKE WITH CANDIED PISTACHIOS that really turned my head!

And to conclude this small sampling of so many enticing cake recipes, I want to share my top 3 in no particular order (except the lime is going to be my favorite)
1. Salted Butterscotch Fudge Sheet Cake, WHAT?!
2. Carrot Cake with BROWNED BUTTER Cream Cheese Frosting, simply genuis!
3. Lastly and for sure this will be my favorite because I have a very unhealthy addiction to Key Lime Pie with Coconut Whip Cream, but I digress….
COCONUT LIME CREAM CAKE WITH FLUFFY MARSHMALLOW FROSTING, I can’t even talk right now after typing that, this one deserves some type of award!

So, as a disclaimer, I read and review quite a few cookbooks and most are great, but this one has become an instant obsession for me and it is pre ordered because I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT IT, LET ME EAT CAKE!

Thank you Netgalley, Sasquatch Books and the amazing Polina Chesnakova for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Nice recipes…did try the rhubarb one and it was delish! Some recipes are similar to others I have tried but who could dislike a recipe book entirely dedicated to cake! Cannot wait to try more!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Everyday Cake.

I love cake and I love this book!

Beautiful photos that came through on my Kindle, easy to understand and follow instructions for recipes that all sound delicious.

I don't like coconut but the photo of the coconut lime cream cake made my mouth water!

I especially liked how the author adds some personal, unique touches to certain cakes, putting her own spin on them.

You don't need exotic or fancy ingredients, just patience and a clean, organized workspace and the right tools.

A great book for bakers and dessert lovers alike!

Yes, I do judge a book by its cover, and Everyday Cake definitely hits the mark with its enticing and beautiful photo.

Polina Chesnakova comes with some impressive culinary chops as a food writer, recipe developer, and culinary director so as a home baker, I know that I'm in good hands. Chesnakova provides a very thorough review of what equipment the home baker needs as well as tips on how to successfully bake a great cake.

Her recipes are clear and concise (along with stunning photos) and by dividing her book into different types of cake -- e.g., layer, Bundt, loaf -- it's easy for readers to go directly to the category of their choice. Chesnakova's innovative recipes as well as adding new twists to old favorites makes this cookbook a staple for any home baker.

Thank you to #NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for this ARC of #EverydayCake.

Everyday Cake: 45 Simple Recipes for Layer, Bundt, Loaf and Sheet Cakes by Polina Chesnakova has a great selection of cake recipes for any baker. The beginning of the book gives helpful tips and great information about making different types of cakes, the best pans for each selection and ingredients to use for cake baking. I have yet to make any of the recipes in the cook book yet, but look forward to trying many of them! I really look forward to trying the Double Chocolate Zucchini Bundt cake and the Summer Berry Buckle. All of these recipes sound delicious, have great description and look easy enough to try. I look forward to actually baking with this book and have enjoyed tooling and reading through it!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book for a review!
