Becky Vollmer provides a lot of great thinking points and strategies in You Are Not Stuck. It felt laid out well and will be easy to reference as needed. It's always hard to review a book like this because it's so personal, but I think everyone could find a bit of guidance or inspiration in this book.
Thank you St Martin's Essential's for the digital ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received an electronic ARC from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley.
Vollmer presents her ideas on how to make choices and changes to move your life in a different direction and find contentment. She sets her plan out in three parts - why, what, how to change. I appreciate the nine steps she shares in this process and the encouragement she offers in each chapter. However, the heavy emphasis on yoga and the attack on some faiths spoke against her point to be open to what works for each person.
This is a book to go back to and reference when evaluating your life and what is not longer working in it.

This was a great read with many clear steps to get unstuck and figure out what you really want.

Each chapter ended with a quick action plan to take away.

Grab a journal and a pen while you read You Are Not Stuck! I really enjoyed this book. It encourages the reader to really analyze their thoughts and behaviors by journaling and asking thoughtful questions. Like many of us, the last several years have hit me pretty hard with the COVID-19 Pandemic and everything else it wrought beyond the virus. I found this book very motivating and insightful. It's a great place to start if you've been feeling stuck and want to change. Highly recommend!

Thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Combining information about meditation, mindfulness, journalling, and Buddhist philosophies, author Becky Vollmer provides exercises at the end of each chapter. She includes practical breathing exercises and lots of references to other media and books on the topics discussed in the book. She also gives a very helpful end-of-book recap of all of her steps.

Overall, I enjoyed this book full of inspiration. I jotted down notes while reading which, to me, is a sign that I was finding purpose in what I was reading. I enjoyed the journal prompts at the end of each chapter which made me pause to think/reflect. There were parts that I didn’t enjoy, but it is the type of book that you can skip around and not feel like you have lost the whole meaning behind the book.

This book was incredible from the first to the very last page. I absolutely loved it especially for its reliance on wisdom from yoga and meditation.
“The best thing you can possibly do with your life is to tackle the motherfucking shit out of it.” That’s the spirit and quote that encapsulates the energy and spirit of this incredible book. MUST read for self development and happiness.

For me, “You Are Not Stuck” wasn’t quite the encouragement I was hoping it would be. The farther into the book I got, the less I was excited about the ideas the author was suggesting. But, this may because it felt like 2/3 of the book focused heavily on yoga (which I have nothing against) and the idea that you could sort of “create your own religion”. The author did say this wasn’t for everyone and that some people find great comfort and solace in organized religion but after the chapter that focused on that heavily I wasn’t as into the book. I’ll admit that I only skimmed the remaining chapters because I lost interest.

I did appreciate the idea that we should give ourselves permission to make a change in our lives’ as I think that’s the biggest reason we feel stuck. I also appreciated that at the end of each chapter there were thought provoking questions for you to think, write or talk about.

All in all, I felt like the book was kinda long and repetitive, and as a Christian I didn’t like some of the religious ideas put forth. I also had difficulty relating to some of the situations and stories highlighted in the book. But I acknowledge that for some, this book might be just what they need.

This was a good book that had a lot of inspiration. Good book to take notes on and read again when needed. I also found myself skipping a lot of it when I felt it didn’t apply to me at the moment, but it was well organized and easy to take in what is needed and read it again later. Part memoir and part self-help. I enjoyed how she shared her stories of overcoming her own stuckness. I could have done without her spiritual opinion to the extent it was, but overall a good book.

Nonfiction inspirational book for getting yourself unstuck. Good introduction and well-organized. For non-fiction, I like to skip around to relevant sections, so this book was good at labeling the chapters and subheadings. I also liked the journal prompts within.

I love a good self help book and this one really is a good self help book. I enjoyed it from the beginning. I've been known to think I'm stuck and it's a terrible feeling. Becky Vollmer offers us a new way of looking at this long-used and often wrong thought process. Highly recommend!

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this arc which made my day! Becky Vollmer writes each page with realistic situations and emotions. She offers true reasoning of why one might feel a certain type of way and how to change that thinking pattern. I have recommended this book to anyone that will listen. Excellent read, and note what she says about procrastination; her statement is 100% true!

"You are Not Stuck: How Soul-Guided Choices Transform Fear Into Freedom", by Becky Vollmer, is a fun and transformative self-help book. Vollmer defines feeling stuck as the following: "We feel stuck when the life we're living doesn't line up with the life we want. We feel stuck when it seems like we don't have opinions. We feel stuck when we don't trust ourselves, or allow ourselves, to make the changes we so deeply long to make." The author splits this book into several sections as she walks you through understanding the feeling of being stuck, to moving towards making fearless choices, to taking action in your new plan.

I felt there were some portions of this book that were helpful, but Vollmer (in my opinion) realizes too heavily on her yoga practices and New Age meditations to make it practical. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I loved this book from the first page. It doesn't read like the same self-help that is recycled by many other others. It's fresh and has a wonderful viewpoint. I would definitely recommend.

This book is about how to move past mental blocks, feelings of hopelessness, and situations that make you unhappy.

I thought that it was pretty good overall. For the most part, it was pretty engaging and I only have a couple of complaints. Like maybe the author could criticize certain Christians without bashing the entire religion and ideals behind it so many times. Certain parts also seemed to drag on too long but I just skimmed through them.

Other than that, the author has a pretty likable personality and solid advice. If you're feeling stuck in life, it's worth giving it a read!

“Permission to quit, to change, to live in alignment with priorities” writes Becky Vollmer, in the opening chapter. These were options she had to give to herself first before she could teach others how to let go of a life that isn’t working for you anymore. “We all have choices; we just have to be brave enough to make them,” Vollmer says. This well-written guide, full of anecdotes from her own struggle to leave a corporate golden handcuffs career and an addictive drinking habit, gives readers the courage and steps to venture out from their uncomfortable “comfort” zones into uncertainty.

I enjoyed the first part of this book. Felt concrete and actionable. Part two is about spirituality which feels out of place here. Part three purports to be the action plan, but, honestly, the whole thing is a bit off point by this stage. I did not finish this one.
