A cute romcom, but I am just not a big fan of friends to lovers trope. But I still enjoyed reading this story. The writing was funny and the characters had good development.

I wanted to like this book but Eli spent too much of it being in love with victoria. It also seemed like he never had a good reason to still be in love with her when Leah was right there.

Eli is heartbroken over his ex-girlfriend, Victoria, breaks up with him after he proposes to her before she takes her long trip to Italy. Eli goes a few months with letting himself go and being depressed over Victoria. Jenna, Eli’s sister, decides it’s time to get a makeover, and learn how to win Victoria back when she comes back from Italy. First thing that Jenna makes Eli do is have him ditch his old clothes and get new clothes. Leah, works at the clothing store that Eli goes too (as well as many other jobs where she happens to run into Eli each time). Leah takes every job opportunity that she can get, so she can save up money and try to get out of Willow Cove. Leah has been living in her foster mothers house, after her foster mother passed away from cancer. Leah knows that her foster brother, Patrick, is eventually going to kick her out because it’s his house. Leah eventually helps Eli with his “makeover” to win Victoria back, but Leah starts having feelings for him. Eli is too in his head about winning Victoria back, that he can’t see what type of girl he has in front of him. Until everything takes a turn…
I feel like this story would’ve been better if there were a couple of steamy scenes. I feel like the book fell flat when it came to Leah and Eli, and I felt like the ending was a little rushed. Overall, this book was a very cute, slow-burn romance.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I appreciate the idea for this book but I feel like it dragged out too long.
Eli's girlfriend was leaving for Italy for work so he offers her a promise ring which she refuses. Starting his plan to wait for her which evolves into his sister and friends doing a rom com make over on him.
Leah has been working odd jobs around town since Cathy, her foster mother, died of cancer. Leah keeps running into Eli as he is being transformed and unwittingly becomes apart of the changes.
I thought the relationship between Eli and Leah was okay but the whole pining for Victoria and makeover dragged on a bit to long. I also got bored of Leah's trauma of being a foster kid. It just seemed repetitive.
3.5 stars

This book was everything. Absolutely everything to me. I was in love with this so much I did something I never do.. I updated my Goodreads all throughout the read of this book. I cried, I laughed, I cried again, and again, and again, then I screamed. And finished off smiling and crying. This book was that good. Leah and Eli are perfection. Eli I swear I wanted to hit over the head a few times. But both of them were just beautiful. Each character had a story and to have each story so beautifully wrapped together was refreshing. The growth of not just Leah and Eli but the story was wonderful. I was rooting for them the ENTIRE time. I absolutely cannot wait to read more books like this. I can’t wait until it’s published to have a physical copy!

I love romcoms, they always get me out of a slump.... and I’m glad to report that this one was fun! Leah and Eli slow burn romance kept me rooting for them to get together sinvce beginning. I’d like to see this book turned to series or as a movie! If you’re looking for a fun rom-com to make you smile — read this. This istotally engaging and so enjoyable. I easily devoured this in one sitting.

Rom-Coms are my secret obsession - I LOVE THEM, love reading them, watching them, etc. Which is wild because they couldn't be anymore different from my normal personality. The Rom-Com Agenda is filled with the perfect tropes - friends to lovers and found family (my own personal favorites!). This one has everything you want in a rom-com: a main character makeover, heartbreak, and then ultimately, realizing what he wanted is right in front of him all along! I really enjoyed the story, but the pacing was a tad off for me - it was hard to become interested in the beginning, but that is solved towards the end of the book when the pacing picks up.
.

Im torn on what to rate this book. It seemed to have too many storylines. Review contains mild plot spoilers.
I loved the idea that the main characters become friends and bond over 80s and 90s rom-coms whi h leads to more.
Eli spends a LOT of time pining over his previous relationship, which even bleeds into the start of his romance with Leah. I had to even remind myself this isn’t a cheating trope bc he’s been broken up with his ex for far too long. I also didnt love that he believes hes falling for Leah, but still comes running the second his ex calls.
The book could’ve been wrapped up at the 79% mark honestly, and been really cute. Instead, there are SO many subplots to wrap up there needs to be that much more book.
Thank you to NetGalley for my arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

When Leah accidentally overhears Eli proposing and getting rejected by his girlfriend, she doesn't know that months later their paths would intersect again. His friends come together to help him get his ex girlfriend back and Leah gets absorbed in their plans. While watching tons of rom coms for "research" purposes, Leah and Eli become friends and then more.
I loved the rom coms. I love watching them bond through those movies and how fun it was to remember loving them as they watching. I really enjoyed the found family and Leah finding where she belongs with their group of friends. However, it was a lot of inner dialogue and scenes that didn't add to the story. I ended up skimming at the end because it felt a little cluttered at times.

The Rom-Com Agenda by Jayne Denket is a slow burn romance with eventual friends to lovers & found family tropes that utilizes romcoms & loved ones to showcase the power of love.
This book is about Eli Masterson, who is on a mission to win back the one that got away by enlisting his loved ones’ help to better himself in an array of areas. The books also involves Leah Keegan, who has spent the last year taking care of her ill foster mother until her death & is now working to make enough money to leave the town that has nothing left for her. Leah & Eli stumble into each other’s lives repeatedly & end up finding that they might just be what the other one needed with a beautiful friendship along the way.
Due to my adoration of the romantic comedy genre, I read the blurb & was immediately intrigued. I loved all the movie mentions & the lessons that were learned from all the love stories. I also always really enjoy the found family trope.
I struggled a bit with the stubbornness of Eli & his unwavering commitment to his ex & his thinking he needed to change. I also am not a huge fan of the miscommunication/lack of communication trope, so I didn’t love those moments. Overall, I liked how things ended & this was a cute & quick romance read.
Massive thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Griffin for the arc, which I voluntarily read & reviewed. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Trigger warnings: This book mentions &/or contains loss of loved one.

I love a good rom-com, who doesn't? They're usually feel good and enjoyable reads.
Friends to lovers trope, check. Cute makeover on our MMC, check.
I wanted to love this so bad. It sounded so fun. It fell flat and I actually struggled to find the desire to read it.
Eli gets dumped by his girlfriend - it's awkward, it's uncomfortable, and I actually thought to myself, I'm with her.
Then there's Leah. Leah hasn't had it easy and I get it but she was actually slightly depressing which just brought me down a notch. With that said, I did feel for her, even if I found her standoffish.
Then I found myself annoyed and how much was spent on Eli obsessing over his ex, he dated her for a matter of months before proposing, she leaves for Europe and A YEAR later he's still pining over this woman?!
Overall it was an ok read for me. As much as I feel like it was meant to be a slow burn - it really just turned into a really awkwardly paced romance.
Parts were really cute, it just didn't do it for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC eBook in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a great premise which unfortunately fell just slightly flat. The male protagonist was described as swoon-worthy, and was sweet, but just never made me understand why the female protagonist was so quickly head-over-heels for him. He spent most of the book moping over his previous girlfriend who left him and making efforts to get her back. Seeing the female protagonist fall for him because he had pretty eyes and....I guess something else?...was unimpressive for most of the book. However, once they admitted their feelings, it remained pretty cute. I was also torn - I love the premise of a character learning "how to romance" by watching loads of classic and modern rom coms. But the book focused too much on changing Eli in every possible way; while characters said the words, "you're perfect the way you are," the rest of the book was spent making Eli...not the way he was. I think the book could have used a lot more nuanced characterization and some descriptions that showed us rather than told us who the characters are.

This was a lovely little rom-com. Reading a rom-com about watching rom-coms was so delightful. The pacing of the story was absolutely perfect and kept me totally enthralled the whole time. Both of the main characters seemed to have a lot of depth and made me very invested in both of their stories and had me rooting for both of them the whole time.

Thank you to NetGallery for providing a copy of this book to read for my review.
This is a nice easy going love story that that rolls right thru as you read. The writing is easy to follow and the characters are you as nice to enjoy and follow. The emotions of love and caring and family love and finding close friends.
The story takes place in a small town USA, and is about Leah Keegan a foster child who ended up caring for a cancer ridden mom for one year before she died. She has moved from place to place and knows how to be alone.
Eli Masterson, slants the story proposing to. Victoria who is leaving to do research in Italy and flatly refuses Eli. Leah, out of sight but near enough hears the entire situation unfold.
The character Victoria is portrayed as an upscale snob. However, Eli believes she’s the one. His family and friends decide to make him an upscale guy so she will die for him when she returns. This process has a sense of humor to it. Leah joins in to help train him to be upscale.
However, this is where the love questions come in between I Leah and Eli. How do you know who you really love? How do you know this is the right one for me? The Book takes you thru a fun episode. To find the answers. But, while it goes thru the emotions it continues to roll really easy to the end. It brings together the meaning of family and friends.
If you need a nice love story that’s easy to read and has all the real questions of life and love then this is your book.

This book was enjoyable to read in one sitting on a long flight home. I didn't feel like there was enough development of the main relationship. This guy just thought he loved this one girl after 4 months and tried to propose, then spent the entire book trying to change himself to win her back, but at the end we're supposed to believe that him falling in love with Leah in 4 months is genuine? Also I usually love rom-com movie references but it was just a lot here. I feel like there should have been more to this makeover plan than new wardrobe and watching rom-coms.

Thank you NetGallery and St. Martin’s press for this ARC.
I really enjoyed this book but it was a bit slow for me but overall I loved this Rom Com. It was just the story I needed. It was so cute and funny and Id recommend it to anyone and a solid 3/5 stars for me. Ugh I loved Leah she was so funny and relatable.

I was extremely interested in this book from the description and it was absolutely adorable. It did have a bit of a slow start, but I think once the story fully took off, I found myself cackling multiple times and swooning at the sweet moments between the main characters. Definitely recommend and excited to see more from this author!

The Rom-Com Agenda is filled with your typical romance tropes, friends to lovers and found family are the biggest two. When Eli is dumped by his girlfriend or four months that he is sure he is in love with so that she can go on sabbatical to Rome, his friends and sister start a makeover on him to get him ready to win Victoria back. Along the way, Leah gets pulled into the makeover agenda and ends up falling for Eli. After what feels like forever, Eli finally comes to his senses and realizes what he’s been really looking for has been standing right in front of him the whole time.
I really liked the idea behind this story and enjoyed it for the most part, but there were parts, especially the beginning the were really slow for me. I liked the characters and the family feel that all of the friends had and that made the story inviting, but I really wished Eli wouldn’t have been as obsessed with Victoria for so long and come to his senses earlier. Overall this was a good romance with entertaining characters, but there were pets that were slow for me. If you are a romance fan and this storyline sounds interesting to you, this is worth giving a shot.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!

This is a fun and sweet romance, you can't help but fall in love with the characters and laugh out loud with them, Eli is rejected from a marriage proposal and several months later he meets Leah, and she starts to help him, they become friends and soon she starts to develop feelings for Eli that go beyond friendship. Eli and Leah are so sweet together, I couldn't get enough of them together.
If you are a fan of classic romcoms this is perfect for you.

A sweet, slow-burn romance brimming with charm and featuring a lovable cast of characters.
Eli has just been dumped after proposing to his girlfriend of four months. Leah accidentally witnesses this brutal rejection. Months later, she officially meets Eli as his sister and friends encourage him to undergo a makeover in order to win back his ex-girlfriend. Soon, Leah is roped into helping with the makeover as she is coincidentally working several jobs including at a clothing store, tailor, and hair salon. Eli and Leah form a wonderful friendship. As someone who has never really had a family or people to rely on, Leah isn’t used to friends or relationships. She tries to fight it, but Leah finds herself falling in love with Eli and his family. Eli seems to be hung up on his ex-girlfriend while his perfect match is right in front of him. Will he realize before it’s too late?
I enjoyed The Rom-Com Agenda very much, largely due to Leah. She was kind, funny, resilient, and lovable. Eli spends way too much time and energy on his ex-girlfriend (or rather the idea of her) but he was also kind and sweet, treats Leah well, and his behavior is ultimately redeemable. The plot has some rom-com vibes but also tackles more serious subject matter including abandonment, financial security, and grief. Recommended for fans of found family storylines and slow-burn romances (between friends).
Thank you very much to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
