I absolutely loved the cover of this book! However I didn't care much for the FMC and appreciated the secondary characters a bit more. I would say this is more of a coming of age story than a romance. The ending felt a bit rushed. Overall it was cute, I felt it was missing something though... thank you for the ARC!

This book was similar to a classic 90s romantic comedy with Julia Roberts. It was witty and fun. I enjoyed reading it! I would definitely recommend this book to my followers! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me in exchange for my honest review!

Not That Kind of Ever After missed the mark for me. I thought this was going to be a fun, easy, sweet romance. But I found that there was hardly any love interest, and the main character, Bella, was just an awful person. She was jealous and rambled on in self-pity almost the entire book. She sleeps with a bunch of guys (even after fat-shaming one) and has a threesome, none of which is my cup of tea in a romance book. I just didn't click with this book and that's fine! This will be a hit for others. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Thank you St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

This one was cute! I really liked that the main character is quirky and imperfect. The author makes these characters very obvious in the first little bit of the story. I really liked that there were multiple facets to this story. There was the romance and the writer and writing portion. I liked the writer and writing portion quite a bit. I did not love the romance. I felt like it was a little repetitive. We know that Bella Marble really wants to find her prince charming. However, we are reminded like every two pages.

This story is about Bella Marble a receptionist at a publishing press. She would much prefer to be a writer or author. However, in multiple parts of her life they are not going as she planned. Bella wants her fairy tale like her parents found. However, all that is about to change. Will she find her person or will she end up alone? Can she get her books written and published? Or will all of her dreams stay daydreams.

Not That Kind of Ever After is a pretty cute rom com that many readers will enjoy. I personally would have appreciated a bit more character development, but I'd read more from this writer.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

I have to love any book set in the book universe! I wasn’t thrilled with the main character, she was almost too tragic to begin with but I did enjoy her stories as B. enchanted. This was a unique, entertaining read that I zoomed through.

Soooooooo this book wasn't it in my opinion. I thought this book was going to be quirky romance read, and instead it was just out of place and weird. I didn't understand where this book was going. I was confused half of the times. Wasn't a fun read that I expected to be.

I originally wasn’t going to review this book because I didn’t finish it. However, I personally do review books even if I don’t finish, because that in itself says something about my taste in books.

What originally drew me in was the catchy title and the cute bookish cover. It’s also described as having the best friend’s brother trope, and I mean that’s intriguing. It seems like a story fit for me. But alas, it was not.

The writing is not for me. It felt like when someone tries way too hard to fit in, and stand out, and seem cool all at the same time. It was uncomfortable to witness. The book is also 400. Pages. Long. I could not do it. The main character is unlikable and I just can’t.

Unfortunately, not a happily ever after for me.

This book was a cute rom com! I honestly didn't feel strong about it either way- didn't love it and didn't hate it. It was an easy read and you couldn't help but root for the characters to get it figured out. Would recommend if you're looking for a cute, easy read.

I wanted to enjoy this book however, it fell short. I did like the premise of the book. The storyline had potential It was too detailed in my opinion. I could've ended in much fewer chapters. Bella was frustrating through the entire story and the ending seemed to come out of no where to me. Overall, this was not the book for me. I just reviewed Not That Kind of Ever After by Luci Adams. #NetGalley

Bella Marble is looking for her happily ever after--so much so that we meet her in the middle of an epically bad date that she is still managing to romanticize in any way she can. She's a writer with writer's block. She's a romantic without any romance. And to top it all off, her best friend is moving out of their flat.

For a romantic comedy, this book did a great job of making sure we knew Bella and all of the other characters before clueing us in on who our other romantic lead was going to be. It gave me time to root for the character that I wanted her to end up with without it being obvious she would see it too. Bella is funny and relatable and really makes a contemporary story that I could've been watching on Max! It reminded me of Bridget Jones's Diary and was just an all around fun read.

Oh my gosh! I laughed and I cried reading this book. It was empowering to read a fun twist on Fairy Tale endings. I really enjoyed this one.

I found this fun story enjoyable and highly entertaining.  I appreciate narratives where the main character undergoes growth and becomes more powerful.  In the beginning, I didn't have a favorable opinion of Bella, but it seems that was intentional.  She’s self-centered and immature.  However, as the story progresses, she undergoes personal growth and gains self-awareness and maturity.

The book had moments of humor and emotion.  I found Bella's journey to finding her prince charming tough, but I enjoyed all the bad dates along the way.  Despite her immaturity and occasional annoyance, I grew to appreciate her antics and hoped she would find her own happy ending.

I recommend Not That Kind of Ever After to anyone who enjoys romance.

Not your typical romance at all! Bella is on a journey to find her Prince Charming and her happily ever after except the universe has different plans. Bella faces a few ogres, trolls and even some frogs, as she makes her way through the fairytales to find her happy ending. She discovers putting herself out there the way she was, was only causing her to self destruct. Bella faced a super bumpy road, but she learned so much about not only herself but those in her life and it opened her eyes to what was already in front of her. I loved that she took charge and fixed her wrongs because her characters development was great. This book also had me laughing out loud so many times! The banter was great and the supporting characters were perfectly imperfect. Definitely recommend.

Bella’s life is nothing like she imagined. She needs to create her own HEA and that’s exactly what she does, going viral on a storytelling app but she needs some real life inspiration. This was a cute one.

A different take on romance. Bella has to do things all wrong to get to what is right for her. It’s an interesting tale of a woman who essentially gives up on price charming and decides to just have fun. Like everyone in that “phase” she realizes she can’t just stay there and, thankfully, her Prince Charming is waiting on the other side.

3.5/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Luci Adams for allowing me to read and review this book.

I will say this first and foremost, this is an adult romance, there are explicit scenes from the very beginning, and I would not recommend listening to the audiobook or reading this book with small children around. Take the title to heart as well, this is not a romance that ends with a happily ever after. It is a story about a woman in her 20s trying to figure out her life and find her prince charming. She wants to be a novelist, but is stuck as a receptionist at a publishing company. She wants to find her prince charming, but is instead hooking up with anyone hoping they will turn out to be him.

She goes on a spree of one-night stands and book writing on an app (that in my opinion is very similar to Wattpad). Things spin out of hand, and she learns maybe she doesn't actually know what she wants anymore. There is romance, and a love story within this story. It is just not where you expect it to be.

I did enjoy this book somewhat, it just was not what I expected. If I not been expecting a romance, I might have liked it better. So just be aware before going into this book. But I would recommend this book for people looking for a book about a woman in her mid-20s trying to figure out life, and that expectations from childhood may change once in adulthood.

The cover is BEAUTIFUL and enchanting. Unfortunately the story fell flat for me!

I just didn't find myself caring about anything that was goingon. the characters were a bit stale like old bread and I honestly would have lived a fulfilling life even without reading this book. there were also some details that weren't consisent. she's in her late twenties yet knew her friend for 29 years? in the womb girl? And for a girl in her late twenties, I sure didn't enjoy the juvenile behavior. I also hate friend breakups and friend conflicts in romance books. They are not the main characters!! leave them alone!!

Not my kind of main character.. Bella is very self-centered and all her issues are self-made. She's very unhappy with her life and projects it even on to her best friend who is moving out and getting married. I couldn't stand how awful Bella was to her friend and fiance when she should be happy for them.

This character definitely went on a journey. It was so heartbreaking and beautiful to see where she ended up. And you couldn't help but root for her along the way to get to her HEA. This story made you laugh, smile, and cry in all of the best ways.
