The characters had amazing chemistry, however, the overall plot was missing points. I wanted more background on how they met. It felt like I started in the middle of a book.

i unfortunately did not enjoy this one, it felt too short and all over the place, it didnt feel like there was much of a plot. i couldn't get into it and didn't resonate with any of the characters. I could only finish this because it was super short but it was difficult to get through. I did enjoy the concept though and with a little more sustenance added i think this could be a great book

From the offset I was aware this was a novella but reading this felt like it needed to be an entire novel. I was very confused at the start about what was happening and the timeline jumped around and confused me.
I felt as if this novella could have been the first couple of chapters in a full length novel but it was rushed and I could not feel any emotion or relatability with any character.
As a result I found it difficult to enjoy this novella and I wish I had enjoyed it more.
The premise is promising, with the mystery of the Russian mob, a sense of supernatural that was entirely brushed over in Violins and Vampires (I also do not understand where the violins came into the story) and a difficult life situation for Lexa.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this

Look, the cover is a stunner.
First the negatives, the writing was very direct in that the reader doesn't have to connect things because it's just given to us. It's not very engaging and I did feel confused at the start- immediate smut. WHERE'S THE EXPLANATION? Okay, then we get the very convenient explantation for why Lexa sees Vass in a little vision in the cafe. I wanted more intrigue, more mystery!
Now for positives! Lexa seems to hold her own and is confident in her body which is a brilliant trait. She is probably the most immersive character (although Vass does seem very 1D due to the whole "he's got an accent and calls Lexa lass every 2 minutes" thing he's got going on). Anyway, 2 stars. Thank you for the e arc anyway!

The writing style of the book didn't really work for me and the beggining of the story was very confusing. I know this is supposed to be part of a larger story, but it didn't really catch my interest.

This had all the potential to be something riveting, but it fell so beyond flat and it is so cringy. I’m glad it was a 15 minute read as that was a waste of my time

Violins and Vampires is a rather short novella that left a lot of questions unanswered. I can certainly see its potential, but the things that happened had vague or no explanations, and I could say the same thing for the character backstories as well. I had no idea what was going on and why the characters were acting in that way, etc. This could have definitely benefited with a few more pages to round everything off well. That aside, I thought the writing was solid except for the typos. I liked the main character too and I'm curious about the love interest.

This was a super quick read and it was really good. I can't wait for the next book to come out.
4 stars overall and I'd read it again. I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Violins and Vampires by Cee Bee through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

I know it's short, but it's a little too low on plot for me. I'm not sure that I fully understand the story and characters.

it was really short (which i honestly don't mind), but the plot was barely there and what is even going on with that guy vass? lexa rocks though, so there's that.
