This is the most amazing Audible experience so far for me and I listen to an Audio book every day!!!!
If I could give it 100 stars I would!!!
The storyline is so well written, poetic and I will read it again if only to write down quotes and keep them.
Reading and even better listening to this book is one of the best experience ever.
I envy anyone starting this book with no knowledge of it as I know how they will feel whilst listening to it or reading it.
My hat to the author and the narrator!!!!

Darker was the perfect surname for this story. And in some ways it’s an understatement. Uniquely told Alice Feeney did an outstanding job with this. She hid the truth so well that I never saw it coming.
This story had me on the edge of my seat. It was definitely a messed up game of clue! 80 clocks? Poisonous plants. And a whole lot of selfish family members. Mystery and murder with a perfect mix of surprises.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and thought Stephanie Racine was great for the narrater.
Thanks Macmillan Audio via NetGalley.

Holy moly... I am in awe.
If you haven't read this book yet - then do it now!
Oh, the secrets a family keeps...
Oh, the revenge...
Oh, the plot twist...
This is without a doubt the best book I have read so far in 2022
And let me just add - the audiobook version narrated by Stephanie Racine - Oh my God, when she whispers - I got chills and goosebumps all over!

Daisy Darker is a very unique concept. From the very start it is unusual but then appears to be an interesting but not that unusual whodunnit….until the HUGE twist drops!
I really enjoyed the characters of this book, a wide range of eccentric and often selfish characters. The setting adds to the drama and atmosphere of the book.
Will Daisy discover who is killing her family one by one? You’ll only find out if you read this book!
I listened to the audio book and really enjoyed the narration, great voice dvd expression.

Wow! This book is phenomenal!
A murder mystery that managed to bring a couple of tears to my eyes.
It’s dark, sinister and brilliantly written! I’m in complete awe of Alice Feeney. A true genius of psychological thrillers.
If I had a physical copy, I would have highlighted and tabbed nearly every page. There is just so much to adore about this book. And the rhymes?! Amazing!
I was hooked from the authors note to the very last word!
Highly recommended!
Thank you so much, NetGalley, for the audio arc of this incredible book!

Audio version of this book 📚- wow I don’t really know where to begin with this one ! It is not what I normally read and It wasn’t what I was expecting at all , this book had it all , it was beautifully written with a really poignant message throughout. And what a twist at the end !! The narrator was excellent, extremely entertaining, the best I’ve listened to for a long time.

Easily her BEST BOOK YET! I absolutely loved this one. Fantastic narrating as always and the story had me guessing all the way to the end. Brilliant read and really loved the concept. Bravo! 5 stars from me.

I loved the suspense and the twists of this book from start to finish.
If you love mystery thrillers, you will love this.
Thank you to netgalley & Macmillan Publishers for providing this ARC for review.
All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I listened to His & Hers two years ago and loved that book. That was the first book by Alice Feeney I read so I was curious to see how I would feel about her new book Daisy Darker. And let me tell you, I was captivated, such a fabulous story that really pulled me right from the start. And, the ending, well just let me say that I briefly thought in that direction, discarded the thought, and then I had to go back to the beginning of the book and read part of the beginning again and let me tell you, wow. Loved the twist. But I will not say a word about it, the less one knows about the story the better.
Stephanie Racine is a fabulous narrator. She narrated His & Hers as well and I may even pick books to listen to just because she narrates them.

When I tell you that until about the 50% mark of this book I was hopeful that this was going to be at least a 4 stars, if not a 5, I am not exaggerating. The atmosphere was there and I kept thinking “It seems like this and this is happening, but it’s too obvious and a poor plot twist and it can’t be like that, so I don’t know what to expect”. Well, apparently we are now into obvious reveals and awful endings, because that’s exactly what happened.
I don’t really know how people can be shocked by this book and I am very curious to see some booktubers I love (hi Gabby and Kayla) review this one, because I need to know what they think. Especially Kayla, since we usually agree on things. I am also really curious to see what the general public thinks once this book comes out, because there’s no way it can keep its 4.16 average rating on Goodreads while being this obvious and predictable.
As I was saying, the atmosphere was there and I loved the secluded island setting. It’s one of my favourite settings for thrillers, even though I believe no one can do it like Agatha Christie did, so there’s always this comparison lingering in the air.
I also didn’t mind the narration, because I understood very early on why it was told that way, but I hoped there would be a shocking plot twist and to be proven wrong. Sometimes I think affirmed thriller authors don’t even try anymore. They have exploited all the shock value of their life in their first books and are now living off success, because they know they are going to sell well no matter what they end up publishing.
The characters were a bit flat and the dialogue felt off, but once again, I picked up early on why they were written that way. And, once again, I hoped to be proven wrong, because my theory was so basic there was no way I could be right. But alas, here we are.
What really made me mad and feel like I had wasted hours of my precious time while reading this, however, was the finale. I cannot get into details, of course, I am not going to spoil the only “unpredictable” (see “stupid”) thing of this book, but I want to ask the editor why they thought it was a sensible decision to let Alice Feeney write *that* ending. It makes zero sense and it’s just cringeworthy, it really bothered me how stupid a decision it was.
I am still curious to read the first books this author has published, but I am not sure I will be reading anything new by her, because I gave Rock Paper Scissors 3 stars and already wasn’t impressed. Now there’s this mess of a book. I’ll see how it goes with Sometimes I Lie, His & Hers, and I Know Who You Are and I’ll decide.
If the concept of her next book sounds cool I could give it a shot, but the concept for Daisy Darker did sound cool and see where it got me. I am just so mad, I’ll stop here, because I don’t want to turn this review in a slander, but just know I am mad.

After an intriguing start, I knew I was hooked. Alice feeney is such a great author when it comes to psychological thrillers and she gets you real good! She reels you in, keeps you and then releases you when she deems fit. Often wondering what the hell happened and shock at the turn of events within the plot and story!
I was immediately drawn into Daisy Darkers character (and what an awesome name!). Coupled with amazing writing, I could barely put it down! The audiobook was great.
Counting down to low tide, with flashback memories and a suspenseful plot, it really adds to the feeling of oncoming doom. Waiting for the big reveal at the end was torture and I couldn’t wait to see how it would conclude. There was certainly twists and turns that I didn’t expect. I loved the poem that was scattered throughout too - creepy!
The story slowly started to come together as you were trickle fed information and near the end, it went in a direction I wasn’t expecting. I’m not too sure what I think about the ending but it was a fun ride to the end with some great writing to keep you entranced!

I just love a locked-in thriller! This one blended so many things that I love.
So, Daisy Darker has a bit of a wackado family, and they don't really spend time together. Except for Nana's birthday each year. This year, Nana is hitting the big 8-0, and she just knows it's going to be her last birthday. Everyone in the family smells the inheritance possibilities, so they all come.
But now they are all trapped until the tide changes, and people start dying...
This story is, of course, a nod to Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, so there aren’t any surprises there. The real surprises, for me were around the hows, the whys, and the wheres. I loved the way the story revealed details about each member of the family, keeping me hanging on the details all the way up until the last moments.
This was one that I didn’t want to put down. The characters are intriguing. There’s a wide variety of personalities, and you just don’t know who to trust. Then there’s the twists. I loved the things I saw coming, and the many that I didn’t. Alice Feeney has created a unique twist on a classic!

This murder mystery is about nine people who all have skeletons in their closets – some figuratively, some literally - and desperately try not to become one themselves.
For her 80th birthday, the Darker family reunites in Seaglass, Nana’s crumbling old house on a tiny tidal island. Every family member harbors secrets they’d rather not think about, let alone share with anyone else. But when the clock strikes midnight and they start dropping like flies, with no way off the island or means to call for help, they are forced to relive everything they wanted to forget.
Since I was blown away by Alice Feeney’s „His & Hers“, I simply coudn’t not read this book. I have to be honest, though, this one was way harder for me to get into. It took me a month to finish – which is quite a long time for me – but in the end it was worth it.
„Daisy Darker“ reads like a classic murder mystery and thus isn’t as fast-paced as I would have liked it to be. The frequent flashbacks to Daisy’s childhood and youth further interrupt the flow of the story and made it hard for me to stay invested. On top of that, the characters are just awful human beings. They are annoying, entitled and manipulative, which makes it hard to feel sympathetic towards them.
I never thought I would say this, but everything I hated about this book, everything I struggled with, is ultimately why it ended up being so amazing. The author, once again, came up with an outstanding twist to the story that not only tied up every loose end perfectly, but also came as such a surprise that I am still not quite over it.
If you are a fan of crime novels and haven’t done so already, I strongly suggest you give one of Alice Feeney’s books a go. This particular book, I’d especially recommend to every fan of muder mysteries á la „And then there were none“ by Agatha Christie.

Dark, suspenseful and action packed thriller’s are right up my street. Loved this audiobook and would happily recommend

Daisy Darker is a young girl with a broken heart. She knows death because she has experienced it so many times. She has two older sisters, a self involved mother, mostly absent father and a grandmother who seems to be the only family member who truly cares for her. As her family gathers to celebrate her grandmother’s eightieth birthday, all their dark secrets and unspoken feelings will slowly unravel.
Alice Feeney opens the door to a slow burn of family dysfunction, what it means to be loved, the mistakes that direct our lives and the collective moments that lead to the worst decisions we can make.

Once again I was delighted to hear Stephanie Racine narrating this title. It is my third Alice Feeney book I have listened to as an audiobook - testament to how much I enjoy Stephanie and Richard Armitage's work on Feeny's previous titles.
Sadly though I have to say that this book did not deliver for me, somehow it just didn't have the desired impact as intended for its listener. It did not hit right, I was rather underwhelmed by it. I did enjoy the parts where Stepahine readout the nursery rhymes. They were powerful to listen too.
I don't know if it is the time of when I read the book that effected my feelings towards it with it being set in October on Halloween, I wonder if it's lost on me as we are currently enjoying such hot summer weather. It just fell short of delivering on being a brilliant page turning read for me.
Thank you to the publishers for my review copy in return for my honest review.

Firstly I'd like to thank NetGalley for kindly letting me have an ARC and the Audiobook of Daisy Darker to review. As always, this is an honest review with my thoughts on the book.
Daisy Darker isn't my first book I've read by Alice Feeney. I thoroughly enjoyed Sometimes I Lie and I hoped that this book would have that same sinister edge that she captured so well before. If I was to liken Daisy Darker to any thing, its felt like watching one of the old Agatha Christie films (I'm sorry I'm a heathen and have not read any of her work). Could you ever trust the narrator, the side characters, what you were being shown Or told? That's how Daisy Darker felt to me, there was always that edge to it.
I listened and read through Daisy Darker during my Summer morning walks and in the afternoons while home enjoying a coffee. I'm not normally the biggest audio book fan and have always prefered to read over listen, but the narrator was the perfect voice for Daisy and made me feel like she was talking to me as a friend. Revealing the darkest secrets and traits of her family (And her innermost thoughts too). Swapping from listening to then reading often meant I kept that voice in my head. I will say I would definitely listen to more works from Alice (Author) on audio after this.
Daisy was actually a likeable character, I loved her care free feel. The clothing she chose to adopt, her thoughts on her family (Especially her niece) and especially her Nanna. I also loved that Nana predicted she would die around her 80th year and her eccentricity. She had elements to her of my own Nanna and its made me love her more! With a family that holds so many secrets and darker thoughts it was truly interesting to read as the book progressed told hour by hour in the present and delving into the childhood of Daisy too. Being cut off from everyone on an island it made the book have that sinister feel which I was hoping for and kept me reading and listening with intrigue. I cannot give you any spoilers on this book, it is best to go in with an open mind. But will say it's the perfect thriller and one many I feel many will enjoy as a Summer read (Or listen).
Thoroughly enjoyable, I will be looking at other books from Alice (Author) in the future and recommend Daisy Darker to my fellow readers if you enjoy a good thriller with a beautiful island setting cut off from everything and a truly unique family. A solid 4 stars.

I absolutely loved, loved, loved listening to this book.
A story that kept you absolutely gripped and could not wait to get chance to listen to it next.
And what an amazing surprise - A-ma-zing
Thank you to Netgalley, Macmillan UK Audio and the author for an advanced audiobook in return for an honest review

The Darker family haven’t been in the same room for over a decade. Not since the night it all happened….but Nana is now turning 80 and has summoned her entire family to her house on a remote island of the Cornish coast. When the tide comes in, they trapped together to face up to the past and survive the night, if they can.
When I had listened to the last word of the audiobook, I immediately picked up my phone to message the friend who was buddy reading with me and typed out “This book is EVERYTHING “ because it is! It’s outstanding and certainly Alice Feeney’s best book yet. Alice Feeney is queen of “I didn’t see that coming” so I was expecting anything and everything but she still got me with her intricately weaved meticulous plot. This book is SO clever. The characters vivid and nuanced and it’s a deliciously claustrophobic read. I’ve never enjoyed myself more whilst feeling tense and creeped out. The description of the setting is wonderful too. I want Nana and Seaglass to be real so she can adopt me and I can live there.
The narrator is wonderful. Perfectly capturing the tense atmosphere, the chilling events of the novel and the personalities of the Darker family.
It’s an amazing book that I want to thrust into the hands of everyone I know so that we can discuss it.
Thank you to Alice Feeney, Macmillan and Netgalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The Darker family are inviting and complex. You are seated at their table with warmth and love. You and Daisy become one.
The best of friends. And it's for that reason why this book is so heartfelt and emotional.
It's beautifully written. One of the most beautiful I've ever had the pleasure of reading. The plot is ridiculous! I mean that in a magnificent way. It's intricate weaving of having your heart beating fast and your head lost and eyes wide. And that ending! Wow! Those finishing chapters turn that book on its arse. It is unexpected and totally outstanding! Well played Alice, well bloody played.
Daisy will always stay with you. Forever etched into your heart.
