As someone who struggles with anxiety and other mental illnesses, I've been trying to find some practises that help ease these overwhelming feelings when they root their ugly head, and make it hard for me to separate things out inside my own head. This book was really helpful in starting this journey for me. Shanila writes with such compassion, and just exudes warmth, making you feel supported and seen, which is something that can be really difficult to show through writing alone.

I always love learning, so having information on how different systems within our body works and their impact on how we feel and the emotions that come up for us, was really insightful and enjoyable. It's been a while since I've read about these systems and their impact on how we feel so this was really refreshing. It was also really eye-opening to understand the depths to which the breath can impact us, and how important being aware of it and finding ways to calm it can be for not just our mental but our physical health to.

It's a really immersive and one I learnt a lot from. Shanila talks you through how each form of breath work adds to your physical and mental well-being instead of just being a list of different practises you can engage in, so, along with the reflection questions at the end of each practise, you can decide for yourself, which ones you feel would benefit you most. I had such a fun time trying different ones, and highlighting the ones that I felt helped me to go back to at a later date.

Overall, this was just a wonderfully supportive, compassionate and inclusive book, with a wide range of different breath work practises, paired with thought provoking reflection questions and beautiful artwork and illustrations, there's something here for everyone.

I like it when a self-help book helps you right from the very beginning, without having to read chapter after chapter first. If you’re in need of a quick rescue, this is your book. Using your breath as a tool to find calm, peace, stillness, and more, this book has lots of tips, techniques, and ideas for how you can use your breath to help in everyday life. You can read through cover to cover, or dip in and out as suits you. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Rock Point, Rock Point and Netgalley for an advanced e-copy to read and review.

Full review to follow on Goodreads, but I highly enjoyed this book. I've never worked on meditation and this was a really nice beginners guide and I felt comfortable throughout the read and process.

I'm already a big breathe believer and the things it helps with. This was written for more beginners in a younger adult, older teens way. It's an excellent workbook for anyone who is wanting to explore breath work for anxiety and Depression and to be open to help.

This workbook is mainly speaking to those not currently involved or interested in other mindful activities, it’s friendly and very accessible, presented in easy-to-digest pieces in a beautifully layout.

I found this to be an absolutely fantastic exercise book and there’s a lot here to benefit from. This one is written in a YA approach, and I would suggest this to middle grade and up. Adults looking to dip their toes into breathwork will benefit as well.

Beathe by shanila Sattar is about doing the work to breath a simple task but most of us don't do it. If you are stressed or have anxiety you want to read this book. I have felt so weighed down in life since 2020 and this book is a must read. She knows what she is talking about and the magic of breath work and how it can calm you.

This book is wonderful. I love that the chapters break down breath work by the purpose of the specific breaths and each is color coded. I practiced some at work today and immediately felt better. Also, just the way that this book is written in soothing.

Thank you, NetGalley for the chance to read and review this ARC!

I fully believe in breathwork and what the author means when she wrote this. Her work is detailed and her exercises seem really good. I think, personally, I prefer listening to things like this and taking part in something and then referring to a guidebook like this one.

This means this is not a book I can finish at the moment. I recognize that it's good, which is why I'm leaving it 4 stars and checking out the authors website. I may just get my own paperback in the future if I need to!

This is such a well explained, detailed and comprehensive breathwork companion and guide. It is a wonderful first resource for beginners who know absolutely nothing about breathwork, what it can help with and how to do it effectively. Yet it is also a fantastic resource tool for those who do already have a breathwork practice. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and it has guidelines for how to do certain exercises safely with children as well!

I read a variety of books on mindfulness, yoga, and meditation. This is the first book I've encountered that is dedicated to breathwork, drawing from a variety of traditions and practices. It's lightweight, never delving very deeply into the traditions or philosophies from which specific techniques are drawn. If it did, it might get bogged down, since the techniques included are so varied. As it is, Breathe is a great resource to introduce those who are unfamiliar with breathwork to options that might work for them.

What a refreshing & artistic book!

33 Simple Breathwork Practices focusing on Mood, Energy and Inner Healing, Relaxing & Grounding and Sleep
highlighted with beautiful, serene artwork. A very informational book written in an almost manual style. The breath work exercises varied from easy to rather complex, giving the reader/practitioner something to work towards.

Grateful to have received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley & Quarto Publishing Group

Breathe is a much-needed book in our growingly anxious world. The author takes readers on a journey to understand the benefits of breath work as well as the purpose for each style. It was at times difficult to understand how to complete the exercises but mostly it was intuitive for beginners.

Shanila Sattar provides us with a wide variety of breathwork exercises for a variety of situations; mood, energy, inner healing, relaxation, grounding, and sleep.

I listen to a mindfulness app pretty often. I think that slowing down, breathing with awareness and the conversation topics for the day are all helpful. So, I was intrigued to extend my knowledge with this title that offers 33 breathing techniques.

Readers are in good hands with the author who definitely knows whereof she speaks. There are sections relating to breath and mood, energy, inner healing, relaxation and grounding, and sleep. Also included is the Breathwork Tool Kit as well as some additional resources. It is made clear to readers that this book can be read in any way and order that feels helpful although it is suggested that some consistency in terms of daily practice can make a difference. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Definitely worth a look for those who want to practice calmness.

Many thanks to Rock Point-Quarto and NetGalley for this title. All opinions are my own. I know that I will feel better soon.
