‘Journey to America’ is a NonFiction Illustrated book that highlights immigrants that have been influential within Science, Entertainment, Politics, and Business. It also highlights influential people who are children of immigrants.

This was a great insight into the multitude of immigrants that have helped shape and build the USA. I recognised some of the people in here but a lot of this was new information and I love expanding my knowledge and learning about important people. In between the biographies, there are short infographics about different aspects of migration and different movements related to migration. These were really fun and very educational.

At the end, the author provides a mini citisenship test using sample questions so the reader can get a little insight of what is asked. This was fun for me but I failed every question as I know nothing about US history. This book was an excellent insight into the value of immigration and highlighted many people that I will be researching further. I love this genre of book and I really wish I’d had access to this information when I was younger, it would have been very inspiring.

This is a fantastic collection of biographies showcasing what immigrants have brought to our country. I think this is an excellent book to have in the classroom both for students who can see themself in the stories and those who could benefit from realizing the great benefits diversity has to our country. The illustrations are vibrant and engaging and the stories are inspirational!

An inspiring read that details the stories of many people who have immigrated to the US and their motivational stories. This is a great read to inspire children as it includes people from all different backgrounds and career fields. This could be an especially important read for those children from similar backgrounds to help them feel seen and more valued knowing they can have these role models to look up to.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Journey to America is a non fiction book for children and grown ups about 20 immigrants who have helped transform a nation. Some of the people in the book will be more known to children and grown-ups than others but I learned loads from this book! The book has a blend of figures from different careers such as scientist, politicians etc and is an amazing book for children to find encouragement positive and important role models and help them nurture what they want to grow up to be.
The art is beautiful throughout the book and I highly recommend this for any classroom setting!

This book will show kids that there are many people who would like to live in America or whose parents emigrated to the US. These include those who have worked in science, entertainment, politics and business.

Just a few of those who are profiled here include I.M. Pei (architect), Albert Einstein (scientist), Rhianna (singer), Ilhan Omar (politician), Sergey Brin , (Google), Kamala Harris (Vice-President) and many others.

All of the entries in this title are beautifully illustrated. They are also very informative. Here is a reminder of all that immigrants bring to their new homes.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto-becker&meyer! for this title. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed reading about so many different people and their influence in the United States. Some I knew had come here from other countries, but others I didn't realize. I like that the biographies are 2 pages and cover a lot of different information including their background, their influence, and other things related to those people. This is a quick way to introduce nonfiction text to my students. Thank you #netgalley for giving me a copy of this book.

A brilliant anthology of many inspirational immigrants including some lesser-known icons that teaches the value of every single person’s individual contribution to society!

This is a wonderful book to contradict the anti immigration noise surrounding us. Perfect tool for research projects. The only reason I would not use in class room is due to being canadian. It is a great book with plenty of interesting facts and successful stories of proud immigrants

This picture book biography tells the story of 20 famous people who have immigrated to North America (or whose parents immigrated and they were born here) and recognizes the accomplishments these people have made on society today. Each person has about 2 full page spreads including a detailed portrait, about 2 pages of biographical information and their story, as well as some fun facts or background information related to that person and their story. It is organized into 5 sections: Science, Entertainment, Politics, Business and Children of Immigrants and features people such as: Albert Einstein, Rihanna, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Barack Obama. It is a fabulous book and definitely a great resource for young people wanting to choose role models or people to study for school projects. It introduces a lot of great people and shows their accomplishments but also doesn't go overboard with information. I think it would be the perfect starting point for students wanting to learn more about people who were not born in North America but still managed to make a huge impact on Canada and the U.S. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the age 6-13 range. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

Journey to America is an anthology of people who achieved great things and are immigrants or first generation American. It's broken down into categories like scientists, entertainment, politics, etc and each category is filled with diverse and (mostly) well known people. I thought it was very interesting and hopefully kids can see themselves in it or realize how many great achievers have different backgrounds.

Thanks to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to receive an advance copy in exchange for my honest review-

This was a neat book- I do appreciate the mix of past and present- so my kids were entertained with the ones they knew and the ones I was able to show them. Enough info for I’d say Ages 5-8/9. Beautiful illustrations. Would recommend to my teacher friends!
