A marriage split, an accident and amnesia are the main components of this story told through Caitlin - the ex and Lydia - the current one. As the reader you are never quite sure why each of them wants Jack back as there is some degree of domestic abuse which is apparent. The story also flits between London, Brighton and the north Yorkshire coast which are well described by the author and you feel that you are there with the characters. The outcome is certainly unexpected in more than one way!

This story is told from two perspectives. That of Caitlin, Jack's wife who he left year ago, and Lydia, the woman he'd been seeing after the breakup. Jack gets hit by a car and in the hospital calls Caitlin. Shocked to hear from him and of his accident, she rushes to him without a second thought. Once she gets there she realizes that his memory of the accident and the past year has been wiped clean. He has no recollection of their breakup. So, she takes him home hoping this means they'll get a fresh start because she still loves him. But Lydia is looking for him too. It's only a matter of time before those two barreling trains collide. And still, aside from all that, things about Jack are odd and it was evident there was something more sinister going on behind his accident and his amnesia.

This hooked me from the first chapter. I was intrigued and invested right away. Several cars of revelation and drama were careening toward each other and I was breathless reading to see which crashed first. Then things took an unexpected turn; the whole thing topped over on its head. Who was the snake in the grass and when would they strike?

Gripping, full of suspense, addictive. Full of mysteries to be solved and twists to shock. The ending was a tangled web, however, I had guessed most of it. Not bad at all.

I’m not sure why but I just couldn’t get into this book. I struggled to get it done. I kept taking a break then coming back hoping things would get better but personally for me it did not. I would like to thank NG and the publisher for allowing me an early view of this book before it’s published.

This was nothing like what I anticipated, in a good way. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. It is full of twists, with a totally unexpected ending. I loved some of the characters, whilst feeling unsettled about others. I thought the setting was well described, I felt I was in the cottage at Robin Hood Bay. I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves an easy read, thriller.

I enjoyed this book! It did drag on a bit at times, but it was quite thrilling. I wanted to know, what happened to Jack!

The characters were good, although I knew one was crazy but never would have guessed to that extent.

It was interesting reading from both perspectives of Lydia and Caitlyn.

Overall, I would recommend this book for a thrilling read.

After a row Caitlin’s husband walks out leaving her bereft. A year later she gets a phone call to say he has had an accident and is asking for her. Jack has amnesia and has no memory of the last year so Caitlin chooses to keep quiet and take Jack to her new home in Yorkshire to recover as she still loves him. While Jack was ‘missing’ he had started a new life and his new partner also wants him back but will Jack regain his memory and who will he choose to be with. A good plot with believable characters and enough twists which kept me reading past my bedtime!

A very compelling rollercoaster of a read! Jack has been involved in a hit and run and has amnesia. the story is told from the perspectives of his current girlfriend and his wife who he left. Very pacey with some interesting twists and turns. The characters are complex and well-drawn and show engaging complexity. A really great story, well worth a read!

I really enjoyed this book.
Cait's husband, Jack, left her a year before the book starts. Then she gets a phone call from a hospital saying he's been in an accident and needs her. He seems to have no memory of the past year and doesn't seem to realise they'd split up. Or does he?
I couldn't put this down and had no idea where it was going to go with each reveal. This unpredictability made it particularly compulsive reading.
Highly recommended.

Excellent book! A real page turner. A man wakes up from a car accident and can’t remember parts of his life. Is he really suffering from amnesia or just playing the part? You’ll have to read the book to find out more. I literally could not put this book down!

Couldn't put it down once I started reading! Great characters, storyline and will keep you guessing.

Catlin Garvey had longed for this moment. The day her husband, Jack, would walk back through the door, and tell her all he ever wanted was to be with her. Only this isn't quite the reunion she had in mind. Jack had been in a hit and run accident. He has no memory of why he left Caitlin, no clue about his new family who are worried he's missing, and no recollection of the phone call he made two weeks ago - I made a terrible mistake that I can't put right. All I can do is get out. Jack is different to the man that walked out a year ago. But can you really trust a man who simply vanished from your life.

This is one of those books that you can't day too much about as you don't want to spoil it for potential readers. I was quickly pulled into this story that's told from Caitlin and Lydia's perspectives. This is a quick and easy book to read. There's plenty of twists and the suspense builds throughout the story. This well written book held my attention throughout.

Thanks NetGalley for the eARC.

The premise behind this was so intriguing. I enjoyed the pace but found some of the story predictable. Nonetheless an enjoyable thriller!

My Husband’s Secret is a well written psychological thriller. Karen Clarke grips the reader with excellent character development and a plot that keeps readers guessing until the end. A perfect summer thriller!

It wasn’t mind blowing but enjoyed the easy read it starts with Caitlin’s husband being involved in a hit and run accident he rings Caitlin from the hospital which shocks her because they are not together anymore when she picks him up she realises that he has amnesia and has forgotten that he left her.

As the story enfolds there are so many secrets you don’t know who to believe the ending was very good.

What a great book! Fast paced page turner that I just could not put down. I do love a thriller and My Husband's Secret is definitely that! If you love a rollercoaster read you'll be in for a treat. A story of Jack, the husband who is involved in a hit and run and suffers from amnesia. Told through two women in his life. Does he really want to be back with his wife? Can he really not remember what happened or why their marriage ended? What lengths will both women go to? I don't want to give any spoilers. Just read it!

I hadn't read anything by this author before but I will definitely check out her other stuff now! Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read for an honest review.

My Husband's Secret is predominantly about the lives of three people. Told through the perspective of two of the main characters Caitlin and Lydia we unravel the story of Jack and how he has spent his last year before suffering with amnesia.
The author Karen Clarke tells a great story with some interesting little twists along the way and an ending that you may or may not have predicted. Either way it's well worth the read for a bit of light entertainment.

Wow, this book kept me engrossed from start to finish. I kept changing my mind about Jack, one minute trusting him and then being not so sure. A terrific book and what an ending, wow. Will read more books by this author after enjoying this one so much.

This is the first book I have read by Karen Clarke but it certainly won't be the last!

I don't like giving away any spoilers, so I'll just say that if you enjoy books that keep you engaged throughout, well written characters (even if they are not all likeable), and plenty of twists and turns, then you will enjoy this book.

Trigger warning for gender based violence.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.

Set by the sea, this book is beautifully described. It’s a wonderful speedy page-turner that will have you gripped from the first page. There’s plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and kept me glue till the last page. Highly recommend.

The sort of book you'd be pleased to find in the bookcase of your hotel to read by the pool. A good read. A bit predictable but then there's only so many variations on a theme and if you've read loads of thrillers you'll have probably read this plot too. There in lies the problem with thrillers really. To the author's credit she doesn't do the usual "rabbit out of a hat" scenario so beloved of many desperate to create "the twist" for readers. Readers are in a sense to blame for this, demanding every increasingly unthinkable plot turns to wet our "twist" appetite. Maybe if readers just asked for a good story? I do pity authors sometimes.
This was an enjoyable read. Kept me interested and I wanted to know how it all ended. My first from this author and I would read more

3.5/5 stars
