Honestly this author can write. I love Karen's books. They really do keep you guessing. Karen is an instant buy author for me. There hasn't been a single book that I've not enjoyed and this was no exception.

I found this a little harder to get into purely due to me getting my head round the characters and their lives. I loved that it was set down the road from where I live.

The characters as always are really well developed and you feel like you've know them forever. Karen's writing always makes you feel like you are in the scene and I love that.

Another 5⭐ read from this author.

Well that was intriguing! It was unputdownable.
I don’t want to give anything away and spoil the story for others, but this book could have been called ‘we’re all lying’.
Caitlin the wife and Lydia the girlfriend both want Jack in their lives and will lie to keep him, but they’re not the only ones not telling the truth.
I guessed part of the story, but I certainly didn’t work out who else was involved at all.
Excellent story.

Thank you NetGalley and HQ Digital for an early copy of My Husband's Secret. This was a good book, it kept me guessing. I did feel bad for the "evil" one, she was messed up. A real good plot, I did NOT figure out that ending at all. A fast read.

Caitlin has had a call from the Hospital to collect her husband Jack from there, after being involved in an accident.
Why is Caitlin so shocked and Surprised by this?
Lydia and Mattie are wondering where Jack is?
What is unfolding here?….

Synopsis;
I don’t like to give to much of the story away as spoilers, as in my opinion it spoils a good suspenseful thriller.
I did enjoy reading this book, and it kept my interest.
I liked the different characters, and the setting of the book.
It does touch on gender violence, so a little heads up in case that may upset or trouble you.
My first book that I have read by the author Karen Clarke. I would enjoy reading more of her books now.

Thank you NetGalley and HQ Stories for letting me read this e-book, in exchange for an honest review.

Having read some of Karen Clarke's books before i was delighted to receive this arc through netgalley.

I really enjoyed this book where we meet characters who are not always as they seem. Jack has been in an accident and is suffering from amnesia, as the story progresses we find out the truth of both his accident and the two women that really want Jack back in their lives.

I would highly recommend this book

Remember, my reviews are absolutely honest. Is this a good mystery with red herrings thrown about, yes! Are some chapters more intense than the others, yes! Jack has been in a car accident, a hit and run, he now has amnesia, and has asked for his wife Caitlin to pick him up from the hospital, not remembering he walked out on her a year ago! Jack has two women fighting over him, the deserted wife, Caitlin, and his girlfriend Lydia, who is determined to take him back home! I did not find this to be a nail biter, however, I did want to know how far the two women were willing to go to keep their man!
I highly recommend! Thank you. #Netgalley #MyHusbandsSecret

Jack, who has lost his memory following a hit and run accident and now has a 2 women fighting over him- his estranged wife and his new partner.
When his estranged wife is called as next of kin she spirits him away to her cottage in the north, far from his real life of the last year and he doesn't seem to realise anything is wrong but Lydia, his new partner, is desperate to reclaim him.
With twists borne of our own assumptions this is a fast paced read with some startling revelations that keep the pages turning!

A battle over a man who can’t remember, between two women who are both hiding the truth.

This novel is billed as a romantic thriller and it is, but it’s much better than that billing might suggest.

Two female protagonists clash over a man who’s lost his memory, and the story is seen through the eyes of each woman in turn, but knowing their thoughts leads the reader to both share and try and choose between their mistaken conclusions. The reader is actually given all the information needed to work out what is really going on; the author relies on our cultural conditioning to make the plot twists shocking rather than predictable and this works so well that I am sure the lessons won’t be wasted.

The story reaches a shocking climax on the North York Moors (accurately depicted as cold, wet and squidgy underfoot rather than romantic) which results in something resembling an Icelandic Happy Ending in which everyone decides to live with the bad things that have happened rather than involve the authorities. But the story does not end there, and goes on to explore the consequences of this and the actual ending really is a shock!

My four star recommendation is because the bridge between those two final shocks is not quite as good as it could be. But in general this is a much better novel than I expected it to be, given the way it was presented and it was only a couple of slightly clumsy pages away from five stars.

Jack has been hurt in a hit and run and has lost his memory! Caitlin, the wife he left behind over a year ago, receives a call to collect him from the hospital in Brighton., although she is now living in North Yorkshire, She’s still in love with him so only happy to oblige. Lydia and son are not happy as Jack has been living with her and so up north she goes to retrieve her man! There are complications at the boarding house where Lydia stays and the story has quite a clever conclusion! However, I wasn’t entirely convinced and I was left feeling a little flat.

Caitlin gets a phone call from the hospital to tell her her husband Jack has been involved in a hit and run and is asking for her. The problem is he has amnesia and doesn't remember that they haven't been together for over a year and he is in love with Lydia who has a son called Matt. Caitlin is obviously surprised by this phone call , but as she still loves him and wasn't the one who wanted to split in the first place she is hoping this can be a second chance. How will she explain the move and where all his things are? The what will happen when Lydia finds out where he is and comes calling? Just what made them split in the first place and can they make a go of it again? But who is hiding what and does Jack really have amnesia or is it selective? So many twists and turns that you won't see coming!!
Many thanks NetGalley for letting me read this book I will be recommending and definitely be looking for more by Karen Clarke

Loved this book. An intense thriller, leaving the reader trying to piece together the truth. A case of amnesia, or is that just convenient. When the hospital calls Caitlin to let her know that her husband Jack has been the victim of a hit and run, she is thrilled. After all, they haven't been together for a year but Jack doesn't seem to remember this.

This book is really well written, it is clever and original and really gripping. I liked all the different narratives that the story was told from as well. I really enjoyed this book and was completely sucked in from the very first moment. Wonderful.

I’ll admit I was worried reading the first few chapters but this ended up being a ton of fun! At first I thought it was just two thots fighting over the same bad dude, looking desperate, but it was not that at all.

Caitlin receives a call that her estranged husband Jack has been in a hit and run accident and is in the hospital asking for her. When she arrives, she finds out he has amnesia. He has no idea they’ve been separated for a year! She didn’t want the split so is this the perfect chance to start over? *hehe* She has her work cut out for her with the logistics, for example, why “they” moved and where his things are, but she’s taking it a day at a time.

She didn’t know her biggest hurdle was going to be Lydia, a walking roadblock of a woman he’d been seeing while they’d been separated the previous year. Lydia does her own digging and finds out where he is and wants to tell him the truth. Her truth. What is the truth? We can tell both women have betrayed Jack and that Jack may not be the kind and loving man we have come to think he is.

Jack appeared to be running from something but from what or whom? Who mowed him down like Mr. Magoo and left? Does he really have amnesia? His memory can be quite selective.

This had twists and turns I never saw coming! It was a quick read full of suspense and interesting characters and that’s what I look for in a book, honestly.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review!

Karen Clarke is the author of a novel called My Husband's Secret. It is a book that every fan of suspense thrillers should own.

Caitlin Garvey kept a secret from her husband, Jack, that caused him to walk out of their marriage one year ago. Jack hated being lied to, and Caitlin knew it. During this year, Jack met Lydia and her sixteen-year-old son, Matt. His father, William, passed away from heart failure while he was out running.

Despite Owen Whittaker's attempts to date Caitlin, she still loved her husband and hoped he would return one day. She then received a phone call from the hospital informing her that Jack had been in a hit-and-run accident. He suffers from amnesia because of a head injury, a few broken ribs, and an ankle. Despite Jack having amnesia, remembering his contact number for Caitlin is a mystery. Why did he want her to come and fetch him from the hospital? It was unknown to him what reactions this decision would cause.

I was intrigued and glued to my seat until I reached the end of My Husband's Secret. It was fascinating to watch the plot unfold in this book. Karen Clarke is a brilliant author, and I am looking forward to reading more of her work in the future. I found this novel well-edited and would recommend it to everyone without hesitation. It deserves a five-out-of-five-star rating from me. Congratulations.

Thank you, NetGalley and HQ Publishers, for providing me the opportunity to review this novel.

Caitlin collects her husband from hospital after a hit and run accident, to find he has no memory of the accident and is unaware that they were no longer living together. Meanwhile, Lydia is anxious for her partner to come home, worrying about the negative effect his absence is having on her teenage son...
A riveting, relationship based thriller narrated by the two women, each hiding some past experiences which have brought them to their current dilemma. A cast of strongly drawn supporting characters and twists and turns of the plot make for a thoroughly entertaining read.

This book got off to a good start for me but then after about 25% it seemed to drag slightly and I began to lose interest unfortunately.

For me personally I felt as though it was more of a family drama rather than a psychological thriller and I couldn't really get to liking the characters. I did persevere with the book but was slightly relieved when I had got to the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Digital for this ARC.
