I wasn't sure what to expect as I've never read any of the Cozy Case Files volumes that came before Volume 15. However, I had heard of a few of the authors and I was intrigued when it was available to read right away on NetGalley. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the 1st 5 book excerpts. So much so that I immediately added the authors to my list. I love a good cozy mystery that has food themes and Ellie Alexander and Meri Allen did not disappoint. I enjoyed Donna Andrews excerpt as the locale was Virginia, which is where I'm located. I was instantly pulled in as I love my state. I'll admit, I was a little apprehensive about Carolyn Haines, but I was blown away by how quickly her writing drew me in and I just had to find the book so I could finish reading it! Plus, a book that takes place in the South is so charming, even when there's evil involved. I appreciated the variety of stories in this volume, but that they also tied together in little ways through language or themes. I've always enjoyed reading new authors and I'm thrilled to have found a few so easily in one book. I must acknowledge that I did not read but a few pages from each of the last 3 authors books. This is through no fault of their own. I am just picky and do not enjoy books with certain themes or places.

I am the first to admit that Cozy Mysteries are my guilty pleasure. The wonderful thing about the Cozy Case Files sampler is that it allows me to get a start on authors I love within this genre, but it also has introduced me to a lot of new cozy mystery authors. After reading the sampler, you will want to go out and buy the books because you absolutely have to find out whodunnit.

Thank you #netgalley, #stmartinspress/minotaurbooks for allowing me to read the eARC of this sampler. All opinions expressed above are my own.

The cozy case files give a good sneak peak to the cozy mysteries that were released this year. There were a few authors whom I follow such as Ellie Alexander and Donna Andrews. The few chapters from the other authors books were intriguing.

Cozy Case Files 15 is a sneak-preview collection of 8 new cozy mystery novels. Released 24th May 2022 by Macmillan on their St. Martin's imprint, it's 267 pages and can be accessed on most ebook retailers (Amazon, Rakuten/Kobo etc) to download and read for free. This is the 15th cozy mystery sampler from St. Martin's. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

The collection includes a few sample chapters from each of 8 upcoming (or recently released) cozy mysteries by Ellie Alexander, Meri Allen, Donna Andrews, Cate Conte, Jess Dylan, Leonard Goldberg, Carolyn Haines, and Ashley Weaver. All of the previews are for series books which is always exciting, and there are several veteran authors with new books in very well established series. All of these will be excellent for binge reading over a long weekend.

All of them are appealing, and all of the included mysteries are reviewed (or scheduled) on my blog. The full mysteries themselves are all in the 4-5 star range, all are entertaining and well crafted. There are some good series releases closing out 2022 to keep cozy mystery lovers entertained, and I for one think the world deserves some nice cozies for the last few years of upheaval.

Definitely worth downloading the collection to test sample the upcoming books. Four stars for the collection as a whole.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

As with the rest of the Cozy Case File collections, Volume 15 contains the first few chapters of several different books that are either newly released or soon to be released. This particular volume shines a light on Jess Dylan's Flower House Mysteries, Ellie Alexander's Bakeshop Mysteries, Donna Andrews' Meg Langslow Mysteries, Meri Allen's Ice Cream Shop Mysteries, Carolyn Haines' Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries, Cate Conte's Cat Cafe Mysteries, Leonard Goldberg's Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mysteries, and Ashley Weaver's Electra McDonnell Mysteries. This book allows the reader the opportunity to get a taste for several different stories and authors to enable them to decide which they wish to purchase to read completely. With this type of a collection being available, mystery fans of one or more of these authors may very well find themselves turned on to other authors and series that they decide to read not just the book that is in this collection but also the entire backlist for that particular series.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I adore these (free!) compilations. They offer an ideal way to decide what books to add to one’s TBR pile. This time, the collection is one of cozy mysteries. There are authors here whose books I have already enjoyed including Carolyn Haines and Ashley Weaver; I always want to read their stories. That said, here is a good opportunity to look at books by authors new to me.

Readers can see the covers, learn what a title is about and then read a generous excerpt. I also enjoy that there is biographical information on each of the contributors.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is an interesting book. It is nine different books the first few chapters from each book. Nice insight into these books..
Fatal Flowers by Jess Dylan-This glimpse into this book has picked my interest. There is history of two murders at Sierras flower shop within the last year. Then there is the beautiful, sad wealthy young woman that has come to hire Sierra to provide the flowers for her wedding in two weeks. The wedding planner in charge of the wedding is a tyrannical rude man that just leaves me thinking someone will just have to murder him before the end of this book.
Round up the usual peacocks by Donna Andrews- This interesting book centers around a wedding and two kids podcast that delve into past cold cases. Speed ahead and someone is trying to kill one of the kids due to their podcast. But which case is the attempted murder tied to. Inquiring minds want to know. Looks like a good read.
Donut disturb by Ellie Alexander- This is a cute little story that I would enjoy reading in full. Several interesting characters that I feel would be fun to follow to the end of the story. Wedding and a fugitive on the run to possibly try to upset the big day. Fun restaurant coffee house bakery is the setting.
Mint chocolate Murder by Meridian Allen- This is an interesting read. Three chapters is not enough. Riley, an ex CIA agent, is running an ice cream shop for her friend Caroline. The local famous model, that lives in a reclusive castle, Maude Monaco, has hired the ice cream shop to supply the confectionery delights for the Moy Mull’s fall festival. Enter also a famous obnoxious photographer, Adam Blasco, no good is going to come from this scoundrel of a man. Looks like a good read to me.
Lady of Bones by Carolyn Haines- Sarah Booth is a 34 year old young detective. Her parents died from an auto accident when she was a child and she was raised by her loving Aunt. This book is fashioned around the New Orleans district. Sarah has a family friendly ghost that visits her on Halloween as Sarah and her friends are celebrating the birth of her coworkers baby. The ghost tells her birth brings a balance by a death. Everything is in riddles from the ghost with no explanation of its meaning. Shortly thereafter a visitor arrives at the door which turns out to be her mothers long lost best friend Frankie. Frankie is very distraught about the disappearance of her daughter and her daughters friend. Both girls are beautiful young ladies. There is a cult involved in the disappearance. Sarah agrees to take on the task to try and find the missing girls. Looks like an interesting read to me.

Gone but not Furgotten by Cate Conte- Maddie James owner of a cafe is also a local animal control volunteer. Cats are her specialty. She currently has approximately 20 cats at her cafe for customers to preview and possibly adopt. Maddie also is in a Tia chi class taught by her friend Cass. All goes wrong when Cass asks her to come visit one of his students that had an altercation with her neighbor day previously involving the students numerous cats. When they arrive at the woman’s home they find her dead at the bottom of her stairs from a fall. Maddie is left to figure out what to do with the 20-30 cats and figure out the real cause of the woman’s death.

The Blue Diamond by Leonard Goldberg- This is a who done it about a 3000 carrot blue diamond that is stolen. Sherlock Holmes daughter Joanna is heading the investigation.

The Key to Deceit by Ashley Weaver-Ellie McDonnell is an unusual young woman living in WWII era.
She and her family are reforming thieves. In order to stay out of prison she and her uncle were enlisted to help the police in matters of breaking into locks. Her talents are needed to remove a bracelet from a dead woman in the morgue. It will be interesting where this story will go.

Several of these books I find interesting. All would be good reads.

Samplers are always great because they give you a nice preview of the first bit of a few or so books that you can decide if they're something you would be interested in or not. It's also nice to read the first of these books to get a feel for not only if they're something you're interested in, but it can help you keep tabs on favorite authors and series as well as introduce you to new ones.
This was another great sampler that was quick and enjoyable to peruse and read through to check out potential new books in cozy mysteries. I'm also relatively new to cozy mysteries so it was great to be able to check out this sampler to decide which ones I was more interested in reading.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for letting me read and review this fun little sampler of cozy mysteries. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

don't like reading only parts of tales so stopped reading when I fell off the first cliff (end of first sample). I've read other "sampler" books that had a number of complete stories/novellas/books by multiple authors, which I felt was a desirable form of "sampler".

I always look forward to these Cozy Case Files and have found new authors I like and old favorite authors in each one I have read. In this one there are three cozies with a wedding theme, a female Holmes, an ice cream shop manager who used to work for the CIA and my favorite, The Key to Deceit by Ashley Weaver. I have actually already read this book and I really loved it.
