On the Run

I’m a huge fan of Lynette Eason and I when I found out about Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas it was a no-brainer that it would on my TBR list and that I would read it ASAP. Ms. Eason writes On the Run in Targeted. On the Run tells the story of Daria, an FBI agent whose expertise is computers, and Ryker, a doctor. From page one of the story, Daria’s life is constantly in danger due to her now dead Father’s illegal dealings. As Daria is on the run for her life, she is befriended by the doctor treating her, Ryker. After finding out they have mutual friends in law enforcement, Ryker helps out Daria to find out who is after her and why.

I love the high-paced action that Lynette Eason always weaves into her books from page one. It’s as if her writing gets better with each piece of writing she publishes. I love how on-the-edge of your seat On the Run is written and how it keeps you captivated until the very end. I love the personalities of Daria and Ryker and how their relationship evolves. Daria’s computer expertise and how she attempts to rescue herself from danger, to me, is reminiscent of Penelope from the TV show, Criminal Minds.

Deadly Objective

Lynn H. Blackburn’s Deadly Objective is another high-paced story in Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas. Deadly Objective is a story that takes place at the Vice President’s Residence. Physical Therapist (PT) Emily is charged with the difficult task of helping the Vice President’s teenaged son, Mason, get his arm back in working order after an injury. One day while doing a PT session, the Vice President’s Residence is attacked. Emily, Mason, and Mason’s Secret Service Agent, Liam are whisked away to a secret location until things are figured out and there is no longer a threat. When there is a lull since the attack, it is agreed that Liam and Emily will take Mason on a pre-planned camping trip, thinking all will be fine. All is fine until the threat hit’s home and the real reason for the attack is revealed.

Deadly Objective is the first story I have read from Lynn H. Blackburn, but it won’t be the last! I love the fast-pace action in the book and that it centered around the Vice Presidency. I love the characters of Emily, Mason, and Liam. I love Emily’s personality and how protective she becomes of Mason. I love how Mason’s character grows and learns through the story. I love Liam’s integrity and how protective he is of Mason and Emily. I also love how Emily and Liam’s relationship evolves in the story. Also, I was pleasantly surprised as to how the perpetrator was able to weave themselves into the Vice Presidential Circle.

Caught in the Crosshairs

I am a big fan of Natalie Walters’ and am happy Ms. Walters wrote a story for Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas. Ms. Walters’ Caught in the Crosshairs is the third story and final story in Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas. Caught in the Crosshairs tells the story of Claudia, a CIA agent, who is contacted by those associated with Saudi Royalty, declaring an emergency Stateside. When Claudia goes to check on the situation she stumbles (literally) into a gruesome crime scene involving the murder of a Saudi Royal. As Claudia let’s her CIA bosses know, colleague Ari is put in charge of the CIA part of the investigation. As Ari and (unofficially) Claudia are on the case, clues are given that look like Claudia’s family could also be in danger. While Ari and Claudia are trying to untangle and put together the clues to solve the case, they become closer.

I love that Ms. Walters wrote a story that has a culturally diverse cast of characters. I love the relationship that Ari and Claudia develop. I also love that Claudia’s character struggles with wanting it all and that Ari encourages her that she can. I love the creative ways that Claudia and Ari worked to solve the case. Caught in the Crosshairs is very reminiscent of the high drama shows that I love to watch.

Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas (as a whole):

I absolutely love Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas as a whole! The stories from Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters are very fast-paced and succinct. All three of the stories keep you on the edge of your seat from page one until the very end. I understand that Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas is an anthology of stories, so the stories are short. I came away from all the stories wanting more and wishing there was more details and descriptions about my favorite parts in the book. As a whole, I highly recommend Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas by Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters. You will be taken on a wild ride and stay on the edge of your seat from the beginning until the very end of Targeted: Three Suspense Novellas!

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My review is also on Goodreads and my blog, Leslie's Library Escape.

Each of the three stories in this book - by three of the top suspense writers in the Revell stable of authors - can be raced through in a few hours, but be prepared for an adrenaline-amping ride!

In "On the Run" Lynette Eason gives IT specialist and ace computer hacker Daria Nevsky from her Extreme Measures series her own story. Her father may have been a crime kingpin, but Daria works for the good guys. Finding out who wants her dead will take all of her skills, plus those of Dr. Ryker Donahue.

In Deadly Objective, Lynn Blackburn puts physical therapist Emily Dixon in the wrong place for her safety, but in the right place to help protect the vice president's teen son. Secret Service Agent Liam Harper is tasked with protecting the vice president's family, but when that protection needs to extend to Emily, can they keep their hearts out of the equation?

CIA officer Claudia Gallegos walks in immediately following the murder of a Saudi prince on US soil in Natalie Walters' Caught in the Crosshairs. Army PSYOPS officer Ari Blackman is sent to investigate. Can they work together to clear Claudia's name and find the real killer before they find themselves in the sights of a murderer?

I love books like this. Each story is taken from a series the authors have written so the characters have a bit of background that can be found in other books. Each story is short and races to its conclusion.

I have no problem recommending this one. I've read the first two of Eason's Extreme Measures series and have book 3 cued up on my Kindle. I've also read books by the other two authors and know they write great suspense.

Will love overcome every danger?

I really came to appreciate these romantic suspense novella collections a few years ago. When you add the fact that this one features more than one of my favorite authors in that genre, well, that just made Targeted even better.

Each of the stories in this collection is filled with the author's, Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters, trademark edge of your seat suspense and spark-filled romance. I enjoyed all three of the novellas in Targeted. It was so much fun to finally get to read the stories of some special side characters I remember from previous series' by these authors. It was kinda like checking in with old friends.

If you are up for a collection of novellas from some of the top names in Christian romantic suspense, if you like stories that are long enough to be interesting and short enough to finish in a single sitting, and if you need a vacation from boredom Targeted just might the book for you...

(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

What a fantastic novella collection! I love all three authors, though Natalie Walters is a newer-to-me author than the others. I loved connecting with the characters in all three stories; I have been following Lynette Eason and Lynn Blackburn for some time so I was able to immediately find my footing with the main characters. Surprisingly I was able to do the same with Natalie Walters' characters though I had not read the series that her novella alluded to.

Each story has adrenaline-filled action, fast-paced and fascinating plot, strong and capable heroines, protective and tender heroes, and a solid faith thread. I loved reconnecting with Daria in Lynette Eason's story; how her past weaves into her present situation was quite clever. Learning more about Emily in Lynn Blackburn's story was so much fun. The unraveling of the reasons behind the attack on the vice president's family was very well done. Claudia's international intrigue in Natalie Walters' story was intense and exciting. Now I must read the author's first series of books to better acquaint myself with Claudia's family and friends.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, this novella collection will surely be a hit. I received the book from the publisher via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Three separate novellas in one book by three incredibly popular romantic suspense authors, Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters. This book's November 1st release has been highly anticipated by me and my friends, and we've made plans to read it together in December, after which I will post my thoughts of it in a full review.

My Anticipated ⭐ Rating: 4/5 stars

This trilogy of fast-paced novellas offers an overdose of action and intrigue. The gripping tales are plot heavy and didn’t seem to have the depth of character as the authors’ full-length novels, so I had trouble connecting with the characters. However, the short thrillers are definitely exciting and filled with dangerous situations and unexpected surprises. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #Targeted #NetGalley

Targeted by Lynette Eason Lynn H. Blackburn and Natalie Walters s an anthology of three novellas tied to a series that each of the authors have. This is a wonderful way to get to now new authors. For me I am a big fan of Lynette Eason but the other two were new to me. I enjoyed each story so I now have three authors to put on my TBR list.

In On the Run by Lynette Eason starts out with action, remaining so through the entire story. IT Specialist Daria Nevskyis definitely on the run without really knowing who is after her. Exciting story.

In Deadly Objective, physical therapist Emily Dixon and Secret Service Agent Liam Harper suddenly find themselves together protecting the vice president’s son from deadly danger. Lynne Blackburn is a newer author for me. I enjoyed this novella.

Natalie Walters another new to me author has In Caught in the Crosshairs. This has a murder mystery that has the heroine, CIA officer Claudia Gallegos as a suspect. Of course, by the end the truth comes out.

Three romantic suspense novellas that are fast paced, jumping right into the plot. Being novellas there is not as much time to develop the characters but still well done. For a clean story that tell a great story these are great.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

On the Run by Lynette Eason: Daria Nevsky, an FBI agent, is the daughter of a dead mob boss. Even from the grave, he places her life in danger. But, why? However, Dr. Ryker Donahue is determined to stay by her side as she tries to find answers. Can he keep her safe?

Deadly Objective by Lynn H. Blackburn: Emily Dixon, a physical therapist, has a special patient. He is the teenage son of the Vice President. Liam Harper, a member of his Secret Service detail is definitely interested in Emily, but there is one problem. She refuses to get involved with Special Agents, but when the Vice President's son is in danger the dynamics between Emily and Liam change.

Caught in the Crosshairs by Natalie Walters: When Claudia Gallegos, a CIA agent, responds to a strange phone call she walks in on a murder scene and somehow finds herself being investigated by the agency. Her interrogator is the hunky agent Ari Blackman and Claudia is not happy about it. She is determined to solve the case herself, but when Claudia's life is threatened, Ari becomes more than professionally involved. Does this unlikely pair have a future?

All three novellas are well plotted and move rapidly. They are packed with vividly depicted action scenes, a varied mix of characters and romance. With believable protagonists exciting stories, these novellas are well worth reading. Highly recommended.

This was such a fun book to lose yourself in and lose myself I did. These were great novellas to read especially in the busyness of the season.

On the Run was FBI agent Daria's story and her romance with Dr. Ryker Donahue. Daria's history was quite troubled, and she saw to it that her criminal father was turned in to the proper authorities. However, someone is out to get her, and her father is haunting her from the grave. She just happened to land in the hospital where Ryker worked, and he couldn't let her go alone when bad guys were out to get her and do her more harm than they already have. I was intrigued with their relationship and wondered if Daria would let down her guard enough and let Ryker help her.

Deadly Objective was my favorite of this trio, I mean who could get over sweet talking Secret Service agent Liam Harper when the woman he cares about is thrown in the crosshairs of him protecting the VP's son. Emily Dixon is a physical therapist with a high-profile patient, but the last thing she wants to do is date an agent after all the horror her twin brother had to go through. But Liam has a way with breaking down her walls with his continued southern charm. Their romance was so fun to watch unfold.

Caught in the Crosshairs brings us two CIA agents with an unbelievable urge to show and protect who they really are amongst each other. Claudia is a kick butt heroine who has earned her nickname and Ari is a playboy agent who may or may not have earned his. As Ari sets out to protect Claudia from international danger, he wants to prove he is so much more than what she has heard about him. And Claudia, well she deep down wants a match that will accept her for who she is.

If you are looking for a quick and adrenaline filled escape, pick up this novella collection. You won't be sorry.

I was provided with a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I don’t usually read novellas, but Targeted gives us three thrillers in one package. I zipped through these ‘on the run’ stories at breakneck speed.

First up is On the Run by Lynette Eason. The MC is Daria Nevsky, an FBI agent who is chased by an unknown man who injures her in a fight. The handsome ER doc, Ryker, recognizes her and is willing to help. Together, they go on a rollicking ride with a romantic resolution.

Next up: Deadly Objective by Lynn H. Blackburn. Physical therapist Emily Dixon is working with the son of the American Vice President when a bomb rocks her world. She’s whisked away to safety with Secret Service Agent Liam Harper. The next thing she knows they are camping in the wilderness and under attack by unknown assailants. Another fun story.

Last up is Caught in the Crosshairs by Natalie Walters. Claudia Gallegos is a CIA hotshot who gets caught up in the murder of a Saudi prince and comes under suspicion from the FBI and agent Ari Blackman. After he saves her life, they team up to solve the crime while fighting a growing attraction.

All in all, it was a fun read. Some of the plot lines were a bit over the top, but made for a page turning story and will make you want to check out their full length novels, if you haven’t already!

This is a 3 book novella collection. Each individual story includes characters from other books by these authors.

On the Run – Lynette Eason

Daria is an FBI analyst who is injured when someone attacks her at her home, she ends up at Rykers hospital for treatment. While there someone tries to kidnap her. She goes on the run and Ryker insists on going with her to help her. There was a lot of action and gripping moments that had me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the reappearance of characters from previous books.

Deadly Objective – Lynn H. Blackburn

Emily is a physical therapist to the vice president’s 16 year old son, Mason. Liam is a secret service agent assigned to Mason. We quickly learn that Emily and Liam have become friends somewhat over various encounters due to their mutual work with Mason. When an attack happens at the VP’s house everyone is taken to a safe house. It is then decided that Mason would be best protected by going on the camping trip previously planned with Liam, Emily gets roped into going along. I did not know any of these characters prior reading this story but really enjoyed getting to know Liam and Emily. Both Liam and Emily are readers and they have a very entertaining conversation with Mason that left me laughing and agreeing with Emily’s perspective. I enjoyed following the budding romance as it felt realistic. This was my favourite of the collection.

Caught in the Crosshairs – Natalie Walters

CIA officer Claudia gets summoned to a house, upon arriving she walks into a crime scene and quickly becomes a suspect. CIA officer Ari is brought in to investigate and quickly determines that Claudia is the target. Neither trust each other, but can they work together to figure out what is happening and why. I had trouble following who all the individuals were and what the connection was. The romance developed way too quickly for my liking (within 48 hours of meeting.) I haven’t read anything by Ms. Walters before so I had not connection to any of these characters.

I loved the three novellas in this book. I love each author. I loved Daria and Ryker, Emily and Liam, and Ari and Claudia. I loved that each story had great romance and fantastic suspense. I loved that each story related to other stories that the authors had written. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

It's always an exciting day when three of my favourite authors come together to write a collection of stories! Just like their full-length novels, each novella in this collection is jam-packed with chilling suspense, heart-pounding romance, and a good dose of faith.

On the Run features IT Specialist Daria Nevesky and Dr Ryker Donahue. As an FBI agent, Daria is no stranger to danger, but this time someone wants her dead. She's on the run after someone breaks into her house when she meets ER doctor, Ryker. The two quickly form a bond, and Ryker is horrified at the thought of Daria facing danger alone. They'll have to work quickly to uncover who is behind the threats, and they just might uncover some feelings they didn't expect while they're at it.

In Deadly Objective, we meet physical therapist Emily Dixon and Secret Service Agent Liam Harper. Despite the sparks that fly whenever they're together, Emily has sworn to never date anyone in law enforcement. Having Gil for a brother has shown her the trauma that LEO family members endure when things get ugly, and she wants no part in any more pain. When Emily's high-profile patient is threatened, she and Liam will do everything they can to protect him. During the chaos, Emily begins to see that sometimes love is worth the risk. As a sidetone, I really enjoyed Mason's character, despite my initial dislike.

The final novella, Caught in the Crosshairs is the story of CIA Officer, Claudia Gallegos, and former Army PSYOPS officer, Ari Blackman. Thanks to agency rumours, Claudia and Ari have each heard much about each other, and they are less than thrilled to be working together. When Claudia responds to a frantic call from a former client, she has no idea she's about to walk into a crime scene or that she'll be implicated in the murder of a Saudi Arabian prince. Regardless of their feelings about each other, Ari and Claudia must work together to discover who is responsible for the murder, and to prevent a coup that will threaten national security.

I absolutely loved every novella in this collection. Having read the authors' previous books, I was thrilled to get to read the stories of some of the side characters from their full-length novels. I appreciated that, although the novellas were shorter than a regular novel, each plot was well-formed, the characters and storyline were realistic, and the suspense was top-notch. If you enjoy faith-filled romantic suspense, you won't want to miss Targeted! I always highly recommend going back to read the previous novels for a bit more backstory and insight (and because they're equally fantastic), but you can definitely still enjoy this collection without it.

*I received a complimentary copy of Targeted through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.

Three can’t-put-it-down suspense authors shine in this collection of novellas for inspirational suspense fiction fans.

On the Run

Daria Nevsky, an FBI IT specialist, finds herself the target of an organized crime group with a grudge against her late father. Once she shows up at Dr. Ryker Donahue’s ER room for treatment, Ryker can’t let her battle the hordes alone. As they race to solve the mystery of who has targeted Daria and why they discover unexpected feelings for each other.

Deadly Objective

Emily Dixson, a physical therapist, has vowed never to get involved with someone in law enforcement. After all, she knows the trauma family members can go through when a loved one gets hurt. But when her job takes her into the orbit of Secret Service Agent Liam Harper, she starts to question her boundaries.

When someone targets the vice president’s son, her patient, and Liam’s charge, Emily and Liam discover new depths in each other that make a relationship seem not only possible but something both of them will fight for.

Caught in the Crosshairs

CIA officer Claudia Gallegos and former army PSYOPS officer Ari Blackman have heard much about each other. Enough to shade their impressions of each other when they meet for the first time. Emily breaks protocol when she replies to a call for help from a former contact and stumbles onto a crime scene. Ari has the task of determining her involvement.

Despite their rough start, Claudia and Ari must team together to unravel the mystery of who killed the Saudi prince and its implications for national security. Along the way, they discover we are all more than what other people say.

Why I Loved This Book

I don’t usually read novellas, but I love Lynette Eason’s books, so I decided to check out Targeted. Reading novellas from two new-to-me authors provided the bonus. I’ve never heard of Lynn H. Blackburn and Natalie Walters before, but I enjoyed their novellas so much I’ll head to my local library to look for more of their work.

Targeted is a collection of three short stories by three separate authors, Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn and Natalie Walters. Each of the stories are apart of a series for these authors, and are standalone, but do mention characters and backstories that do make you want to go read those books. I usually enjoy reading these authors’ work, and this was no exception. Although the length of the stories make the romance and mystery a little rushed, it is still a good show of their work. If you want to spend a little time with good characters with a clean story, this is a book for you.
On the Run, by Lynette Eason, is about Special Agent Daria Nevsky who is a computer genius for the FBI. When she gets injured by fighting off an intruder inside her home, she meets Dr. Ryker Donahue, who stitches her up. After being attacked in the hospital, she decides she needs to leave to find out what is going on, who wants to hurt her, and what it has to do with her deceased father. Dr. Donahue refuses to let her leave alone, and together, they head out to undercover what is happening while trying to also find out what is going on between them.
Deadly Objective, by Lynn H. Blackburn, follows Emily Dixon, who is a physical therapist working with the Vice President’s son, Mason. Secret Service Agent Liam Harper is in charge of keeping Mason safe and on his best behavior, which is no easy task. An attack puts all three in a race to figure out what is going on before someone succeeds in their attempts.
Caught in the Crosshairs, by Natalie Walters, puts two CIA agents working together. Agent Claudia Gallegos is trying to figure out why a Saudi Prince called her for help right before getting killed, while PSYOPS agent Ari Blackman is trying to figure out if her relationship with the prince and if she had anything to do with his death. While the race to find the killer, trying to keep her family safe, they get closer. They find out that their reputation in the Agency may not be entirely true.

Three fast paced suspenseful novellas, quick reads that are more love stories than thrillers. Very entertaining, but somehow it's a pity that the reader knows after just a few pages that the heroine will finally fall in love although she struggles not to. This pattern is somehow overused.
The Christian point is well-embedded and not preachy.

I loved this novella collection! As a major fan of these authors, I loved being able to revisit old characters from previous series. In Lynette Eason's ON THE RUN we see Daria and Ryker from her Extreme Measures and Blue Justice series. In Lynn H. Blackburn's DEADLY OBJECTIVE, we see Emily from her Defend and Protect series. From Natalie Walter's CAUGHT IN THE CROSSHAIRS we get to see Claudia from her Harbored Secrets and The Snap Agency series. I loved action and romance.

Order of favorite novella (1 being favorite):
Deadly Objective (Liam was adorable)
On the Run (I loved revisiting Daria's past)
Caught in the Crosshairs (Pecca and Maceo make an appearance)

WOW! I've been hitting a wall lately with suspense reads, but I knew I enjoyed reading two of the three authors in this collection, and with Daria's story in Eason's (one I've been waiting for) and Natalie Walters in another, I decided to give this one a try, and WOW. I ended up reading Eason's story in one sitting -- about an hour and a half -- and loved it. A very powerful intro to the collection, and as soon as I read the opening lines of Blackburn's, I couldn't wait to keep reading. This is the first work I've read by Blackburn, but it won't be the last. (Natalie Walters has become an insta-buy author for me, so I already knew I'd love hers!) Each author had such a compelling storyline, impactful themes, an excellent balance between the romance and suspense, quick-witted characters, just enough humor, edge-of-your-seats action scenes, and overall a fantastic blend of stories for this novella collection. If you've read at least one of these authors, pick up a copy of TARGETED! You won't be disappointed. If you've never read any of these authors...what are you waiting for?!

**I read an advanced copy in order to share my review; all thoughts above are my own!

I don't usually gravitate to novellas but once we start approaching the holiday season and my reading time becomes a bit more limited they are my go to choice. Targeted contains three separate stories from three of my favorite romantic suspense authors.

Each story is fast-paced and easy to get through in one sitting. Even though my time was limited I found myself wanting to continue when I came to the end of each story.

One of my favorite things about this book is that each individual story is pulled from a storyline in a current series. The main character in the novella is a side character in the series so it's fun to find out a little bit more about what's going on in the background of these series that I have completely enjoyed.

Do I think that you need to have read each individual series before you read this collection of novellas? Nope, nope, nope! Just pick it up and enjoy it. There might be subtle references that you don't recognize, but it will not matter in the least. Of course you know that I always think that if you can, read all the books!

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

itle: Targeted
Author: Lynette Eason, Lynn H Blackburn, Natalie Walters

Pg: 361

Genre: Christian Suspense

Rating: 4.5 stars overall rating

Publisher: Revell

I loved this novella collection though I have to say that my favorite one was On the Run by Lynette. Even though you can read this novella as standalone I’d recommend reading the blue justice series by Lynette Eason or at least Vow of Justice. And Lynn Blackburn’s Defend and Protect series. And Natalie Walters Harbored Secrets series for background and to not be spoiled.

Title: On the Run

Author: Lynette Eason

Ch: 20

Rating: 5 stars

I’ve wanted Daria’s story since I first meet her in Vow of Justice book four in the Blue Justice series. I loved Daria and I also loved that she was a capable FBI in her own right. And Ryker while he wants to keep her safe and protect her, he also trusts her ability. He follows her lead. Quite frankly I think they make a great team. I also loved seeing Linc and Allie again as well as other characters from Lynette’s other series. Even though I would have loved a full-length novel I did love this novella. I also loved that this one was mostly suspense with only a hint of romance.

Title: Deadly Objective

Author: Lynn H Blackburn

Ch: 18 plus epilogue

Rating: 4 stars

While Deadly Objective isn’t my favorite of Lynn’s books it was an enjoyable read. I generally don’t like books suspense included that focus on either the president or vice presidents’ kids. However, with this one I loved Mason. He was easily my favorite character from this one. Liam has been the only secret service agent that can work with him as they all think he’s a brat. I think he’s just a sixteen-year-old kid who’s whole has changed. Emily is his physical therapist and she’s the one adult who gets him. This is the least suspenseful one of one Lynn’s books but still good. Though it was easy to figure out who was behind everything. But I only figured it out because of Mason.

Title: Caught in the Crosshairs

Author: Natalie Walters

Ch: 17 plus epilogue

Rating: 4 stars

I enjoyed Caught in the Crosshairs as I’ve been wanting for Claudia’s story since Silent Shadows and I enjoyed this slight spy Novella. Loved the suspense and the movie references. And I love that Walter’s always manages to work movie references into her books.
