It took me a while to write a review for the book. One of the reason that I really try to finish it but I couldn't. The description of the book was promising and I was excited in the beginning. However, I was waiting and waiting when it gets any better but no such luck. There was no sparks and slow burn at all what so ever.
3 ⭐ for trying

With Cowboy Ever After Jennie Mart delivers a light-hearted romance about two people finding love in unusual circumstances.
Kaylee Collins is a writer who is struggling to bring real life details to the Western Romances she writes. Her editor decides the perfect solution to give her hands on experience is to send her for a visit to her brother’s ranch. Kaylee musters up her courage, packs up her dog Gladys and heads out to tackle the adventure with a cheerful willingness.
Luke Montgomery is devoted to his ranch since losing his wife to cancer. He is not looking forward to baby-sitting a writer who in his mind is nothing but a silly city girl who spends her time making up lies for her stories. Kaylee is quickly taken by the serious Luke, who could be her very own leading man come to life. And Luke finds Kaylee’s eagerness to learn surprising and endearing.
The story is a lighthearted escape and was a pleasure to listen to. Virginia Rose brings heart and humor to the audiobook narration.
My favorite things about this story?
I adore an introverted writer going on an adventure story. It might be one of my favorite setups of all time. And I also love a ranch or farm life setting. Hard work, breathtaking views and small town lives.
This is a sweet and simple love story with a horse on the cover. Yes, please!

I want to thank NetGalley and Hallmark publishing for an advance copy of the audiobook for an honest review.

Kaylee Collins is a successful writer of cowboy romance novels, but she has never actually been to a working ranch. When her editor insists Kaylee spend some time on a ranch, Kaylee ends up at Luke Montgomery’s ranch; Luke looks just like the hero of Kaylee’s novel. Luke has lost his wife to cancer and has no use for Kaylee’s romance novels. They might just find a real romance with each other.

This was a sweet story but just a little too cheesy for me. Something about Kaylee occasionally calling Luke “Duke”, the hero of her novel, struck a nerve with me. It made me feel like she was interested in Luke being like Duke rather than Luke as his own person. We also didn’t get to know either character very deeply. For me, the book was just OK, not as good as other Hallmark books I have read.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Kaylee is a western romance author who has never been west. How can you write about a sexy cowboy, if you’ve never met one! Kaylees editor Faye jumps in and decides to send Kaylee to her brothers ranch. Luke is still grieving over the loss of his wife but the arrival of Kaylee might be just the thing to make him open up again.

I love hallmark. The cheesy beautiful predictability of it just warms my heart. This book is wonderful and actually reminds me of the hallmark movie with #lukeperry where he’s a western star that can’t ride a horse. I alway recommend a hall@ark book, they are like a nice warm hug.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A clean, small town, sweet romance set in a beautiful town. Kaylee and Luke, although opposites, just might be perfect for each other. There are laugh out loud moments and moments that have you wondering what will happen.
Kaylee is an author who would rather stay in her house with her dog than interact with people. This makes it difficult to bring authenticity to her writing. Struggling to write her book, her editor sends her to the ranch she grew up on to get some experience. Little does she know, her editor’s brother, Luke looks exactly like her character.
Luke is still grieving after losing his wife. He is irritated with his sister for sending an author to live with him. He is surprised with how she actually helps on the ranch. As they spend time together, their feelings change, but she is set to leave soon. Whether they can figure out a way to be together remains to be seen.
The narrator did a great job of conveying the feelings and emotions of the characters. Even though I prefer dual narration, I didn’t feel as though only have one narrator detracted from the story. A great story about moving out of your comfort zone and second chances at love.
I received an audio ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

This book was a sweet country romance and although I enjoyed it, I didn't love it. The characters were both likable, but I think the chemistry between them could have been better.

When I was younger, I knew absolutely nothing about cows, hay and ranch stuff. Then in my twenties, I started dating this cowboy. I can still remember the first time I went to feed cows with him. I was terrified of those giant creatures!! All this to say, I have a few things in common with Kaylee, the female MC in this book. Kaylee, an author and city girl, has been writing western romances but her readers are starting to notice something… that she knows nothing about riding horses, cattle drives or really anything pertaining to living on a ranch! The only way to fix this is for Kaylee to go stay a week at a ranch. Conveniently, her editor’s brother has a ranch. That’s were she meets Luke. Tall, handsome and everything you’d expect to see in a rugged cowboy, Luke is not too excited about having to show Kaylee around the ranch. He’s got real work to do.

This was a super cute book. I loved how Kaylee was up for all the things Luke threw at her. Luke was great! He was kind and so patient. There were several scenes that made me laugh but the “chicken scene” was definitely my favorite!!

I listened to the audio version and it was really enjoyable as well. The narrator did a great job with the different characters’ voices. Overall this is a super sweet and clean romance.

Oh, in case your were wondering… I married that cowboy!! 😍

Thank you to @NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC.

Classic hallmark book which could easily be a movie. Sweet romance set in Montana. Loved the hero he was sweet and caring and loved the heroine she was popular but not overconfident and snooty. Audiobook was so good and the narrator were 5 stars.
Overall I’ll give it 4 stars ❤️

I loved this book. It taught us sometimes you need to get out of your shell to see what you are missing. That its ok to be scared of something but trying new things. There is some romance from two people that did not think they could love again. I love how they had animals in the story as well. This is a must read!!!

I enjoyed this clean, small town romance story. It was a very romantic story but there were too many interrupted, missed kiss attempts. I’m okay with waiting until the end, but that was too much outside interference to the physical contact.

This one didn't quite work for me, for a couple of reasons. It's a heartfelt and entertaining story, but the relationship between the main characters lacked steam or believable chemistry. The premise of the story was not particularly original, and there weren't enough unique elements to keep me interested in this romance. I did appreciate Kaylee as the main character, and several scenes including the chicken scene had me cackling.

Overall, this sweet romance novel is held back by a lack of chemistry and originality.

This super cute city girl meets a hot rancher with some puppies and horses included. Kaylee is a romance writer but never been on a horse so gets sent to Montana to figure it all out- do like she sets right into it all and tries. It's a Hallmark movie in the waiting! There are some funny scenes as well so it will have you happy for the two of them and laughing. Really enjoyed this cowboy romance.

This single narration did a good job with the different POVs.

Cowboy Ever After was my first experience with prolific author, Jennie Marts, and I understand why she is so loved. The plot, setting, and meta-like nature of the book all combined to keep my attention and make me feel fully embedded in the Montana ranch where most of the story takes place. Writer/heroine Kaylee needs to get first-hand experience of cowboy life to keep her own novels realistic, so her editor exiles her from Chicago to spend a week with her brother on his ranch. There was nothing earth-shaking new in this story: unless this is your first romance, you know exactly how it's going to end. I even foresaw the concluding climactic drama and was confused when it seemed for a short time that things might go a different way, but the author came through in the end and did exactly what I expected she would do. All that to say: Jennie Marts delivers the story her readers are seeking. There are great secondary characters, minimal heat, and frequent references to church attendance and faith. The only plot point that did surprise me was the lack of an epilogue in which Kaylee's editor admits to having played match-maker.

This was such a lovely, clean romance! The characters, Luke and Kaylee, were fun characters. Kaylee was a bit "girly" and out of touch with what she was writing. As an author of western romance, she had a false sense of ranch lifestyle. But, I suppose that is where Luke comes in! This was a Hallmarkish read, with great characters, humor, setting, and storyline. I have read other books by Jennie Marts, and like the others, this gave me a feel-good feeling and warmed my heart.

The audio was done by Virginia Rose. She did a wonderful narration! She was so great to listen to.

I would certainly recommend this audio and story! 4.25 stars

Cowboy Ever After is the story Kaylee Collins, a writer who hasn't done quite enough research for her western romance novels, and Luke Montgomery, a rancher who has been out of the dating game for a while. This book provides one of the slowest of slow burns, but in an enjoyable way. Kaylee's character felt real and had just enough quirkiness to be relatable while Luke had multiple layers to his personality. There was a nice balance of humor and seriousness between Kaylee and Luke. If anything, I wish we could have seen more from their personal growth. I wish Luke would have talked about his wife who passed away and his grieving process with Kaylee. I wanted to go just a little more deep with the characters and the timeline felt rushed. This may be my personal taste, but I felt like the characters talked a little too directly for everyday people and there could have been spots where they talked about something a little more indirectly. Overall, this was a wonderful summer read with delightful characters and a fun plot. 3.5/5 stars.

I listened to the audio version of this Hallmark novel. I enjoyed the narration and felt like the narrator did a good job overall with the story.

Cowboy Ever After was a fish out of water tale that had a nice blend of romance and humor, but also looked into the hearts of these characters to address what their fears were and why those fears were holding them back.

I enjoyed that Kaylee and Luke were genuinely nice people. Kaylee was sometimes afraid to put herself out there and risk making a fool of herself, however, she always ended up giving whatever she tried her all. Luke was a hardworking man who did not really want someone living on his ranch for a week, yet he ended up treating Kaylee with kindness and consideration, even from the beginning.

Watching these two get to know each other and start to have feelings for each other was very sweet and satisfying. I do wish there had been an epilogue to show a bit of their life together in the future, say maybe six months to a year down the road.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
