Kaleigh is a Western romance writer who hasn't experienced her subject, so her editor, Faye Montgomery sends her to her ranch for a week to live the life. Her brother, widower Luke is tasked with showing Kaleigh around and not looking forward to it. Nervous and shy, Kaleigh begins to open up to Luke and he realizes he may have to lift his ban on romance with her around.

Cowboy Her After is a sweet, clean romance that just makes you smile. It's uplifting and full of heart, perfect for whenever you need a break from the heavy reality of life.

Cowboy Ever After, by Jennie Marts, is a delightful story of the evolution of timid romance author Kaylee Collins when she is forced by her editor and friend, Faye Montgomery, to spend a week on a working ranch to help make her cowboy romances more true to life. And Faye, who grew up on the Montana ranch, Dusty Acres, will call upon her brother, Luke, to host her author.

Kaylee, reluctant to agree and insisting on driving from Chicago to Montana so she could bring along her Corgi companion, Gladys, makes the 10 hour drive and arrives early in the day. Upon arrival, the first one she encounters is a mother goose and her goslings. Kaylee makes the mistake of trying to approach the flock with the protective mama, bringing Luke to her rescue. Upon seeing Luke for the first time she immediately calls him Duke, one of her main characters, because the physical resemblance is uncanny.

Luke, a reclusive widower, is not too keen on hosting his sister’s friend. He likes his solitude, with just his dog, Cooper, although he has plenty of friends in the small, close knit community. In fact, it is his goal to chase Kaylee away and resume his quiet life. However, Kaylee is following Faye’s advice to channel her inner Sassy, her feisty heroine. In doing so, Kaylee meets every challenge and explores so much she had never done before, even meeting her fear of horses head on.

As the days dwindle, and returning to Chicago looms on the horizon, Kaylee is thinking about how much she will miss the ranch, the town, and perhaps, even a certain rancher. This is a lovely story of a young woman coming into her own and a young man finding his way from behind the veil of grief. These characters are so lovely, the setting so well described, and the plot so well developed. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

This is a cute. A forced proximity, opposites attract RomCom. City girl has to get some inspiration to make her novels more realistic so she leaves the windy city behind on the recommendation of her editor and heads to Montana. There's tons of Angst and swooning. I liked the Narrator and the cover is beautiful as well. Very PG No steam 😫 lol

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the audio version of this book. I really enjoyed this fun romance novel. Kaylee is a writing that writes about cowboys and falling in love. Kaylees publisher wants her to get a full on experience of being on a farm.. It just so happens that her publisher grew up on a farm on Montana that her brother is still living on and working the farm. So Kaylee loads up a vehicle and travels with her corgi Gladys to the working farm. Kaylee is smitten with Luke the moment she sets eyes on him. Luke was put off about Kaylee coming and he tries his best to scare Kaylee off. He has her do chores most would shy away from and serve her meals that were less than gourmet. None of it detered Kaylee. They eventually fall in love in a short week.

Thanks to Hallmark, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
As I sit here writing this review it’s 104° outside so picture perfect weather In Montana would be amazing right now!
Kaylee is a western romance writer from Chicago. She’s never been on a ranch, let alone a horse. As her books have continued to move along her editor thinks she needs to experience ranch life in order to write about it. She sends Kaylee to Montana to her family’s ranch to get some hands on experience. Kaylee doesn’t like new things or big changes, she spends her time with her Corgi Gladys. She has to keep reminding her self not to be scared. When she arrives she meets Luke, he’s not thrilled that his sister has put this writer on him but he loves her so he’s going to do what she wants. He plans a bunch of horrible meals hoping to chase her off sooner than the week planned. But Kaylee really wants this ranch experience so she’s willing to shovel manure and anything else Luke puts on her.
It’s such a cute story! I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop and Kaylee gain more confidence in herself along the way!

This was a cute and clean story that was enjoyable. Kaylee is an author of western books, but she knows absolutely nothing about how a ranch really operates. Those that are close to ranching can tell her details are off in her normal book descriptions. Her editor grew up on a Montana ranch and tells Kaylee that she has to spend one week on a ranch with the editor's brother in order to make her book descriptions more accurate.

Luke, the widowed rancher and the editor's brother, isn't happy about having to babysit an author for a week - he has too many things to do and he just assumes the city slicker author will slow him down and turn up her nose at all he has to do. So he plans to make it miserable for her - he serves her beanie weenies, a fried bologna sandwich, etc. But she enjoys those things and tends to bring a smile to all she does - he can't figure it out.

As the week goes by, Luke realizes he has been lonely and living a life of isolation since he wife died five years ago. He is actually enjoying Kaylee's company, but will she be willing to give up her big city life for the small Montana ranch life instead?

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.

This is a sweet romance and if you are looking for any heat just pass this one by, however, if you are looking for more of a Hallmark-type movie book, this is made for you. Kaylee is struggling with her newest book and her editor sends her on a "vacation" to a ranch in Montana. The ranch is owned by her editor's brother and so she will be in good hands and takes along her corgi sidekick, Gladys, and even though she is a tried and true city girl she is keeps up the mantra "What would Sassy do" in her head to get through. Sassy is the heroine in her stories and she needs inspiration to get those words on the page. When she meets Luke she is sure she is meeting Duke, the hero in her story. Even though he is doing his sister a favor, he has no intention of playing nice and goes out of his way at first to make Kaylee uncomfortable, even serving hot dogs and beans for dinner. Soon, though, they find common ground and even though horseback riding isn't her thing, she is up for any challenge issued. Will she survive the week and more important, will their hearts survive? Great story and I had fun listening to this one.

This was such a sweet read. I know some people are quick to knock sweet rather than steamy romances and I certainly enjoy the latter, but this was just what I needed! This excellently narrated audio-galley of Cowboy Ever After follows Kaileigh (sp?), romance author (yay book industry rep!) who's desperately lacking real-life experience in the wild west. Her editor Faye sends her packing for a week on the family ranch and Kaileigh's hosts (Luke Montgomery and his golden Cooper) are, surprise surprise, just what she needs.

Kaileigh finds more than inspiration and real life experience to support her novel-writing, she finds real connections with real, authentic folks who welcome her from her first day in town.

Marts does a good job writing mostly realistic characters and giving them the depth that they deserve and need to make the plot convincing and enjoyable. Emma and Dean should have played a bigger role (maybe there's a sequel in the works?) but they served as excellent supporting characters and I'd also love to see Faye get her own story - there's time!

I like the character development that Marts takes the time to go through with Kaileigh and her alter-ego Sassy. It's a unique twist (at least for me) on this kind of character arc and it was really enjoyable - especially as someone who writes and reads a lot!

I'm sorry that Kaileigh and Luke get interrupted so many times but when they finally get their HEA it's well-worth the wait!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. The book was entertaining and a cute light hearted romance. It is a bit cheesy but if you like Hallmark type movies romance this is perfect for you. A fast read. The narrator did a great job and the cover is cute.

This was a very sweet Hallmark cowboy romance. I thought the pacing was a little slow, and it felt a little "insta-love", but overall it was a great signature Hallmark style romance story!

I do believe this is the first time I have ever commented on a book cover in a review. The designer of this cover is a creative genius. The cover is what drew me to this book, and I was not disappointed. Kaylee is a shy, romance author that spends most of her time inside her apartment writing. Never one to venture outside or try new things she is mortified when her editor books her a week at a working ranch. Coincidence - the cowboy looks exactly like the hero in her romance novel. Determined to make this work, Kaylee channels her inner "Sassy", the heroine in her latest novel. With each new thing she tries she asks herself "What would Sassy do?" and Sassy takes it from there. Such a fun romance with lots of endearing characters. I want to read more by this talented author. Virginia Rose is excellent as the narrator.

"Cowboy Ever After" is a first time read by Jennie Marts, new author to this reader. The story was bit slow in the beginning and hard to make a connection to the heroine, Kaylee until she comes face-to-face with Luke. Chemistry between the two was there but could have been developed a bit more although this was a clean western romance. Once the pace picked up, I really started to enjoy Kaylee and Luck as characters and their shortcomings...as both characters were not what they each expected one another to be. There were witty scenes that leave you smiling and laughing...especially the "chicken scene".

This was a cute and enjoyable listen that made it hard to put away once the plot picked up. Narration by Virginia Rose was performed very well and not forced with the change of voices between characters. A refreshing clean romance and looking forward to Dean and Marnie's love story.

If you want a cute sweet hallmark romance then this book is Perfect. Kaylee is a successful romance author but she needs to go experience a real Montana ranch to get some experience before her Publisher will pick up her next books. she is a quiet reclusive city girl and isn’t used to being brave or stepping out of her comfort zone.
Luke is the owner of his family ranch in Montana and has been grieving the death if his wife for the last 5 years.
He expects Kaylee to be a snobby city girl but she isn’t at all what he expects.
These 2 characters complement each other so well and both see growth in each other during her trip.
If you love hallmark style then this book fits right in and you will swoon over Kaylee and Luke.

When I saw this Hallmark sticker on the cover image on @netgalley I knew I needed to read it. What are Hallmark movies but a big, predictable, comforting hug - sign me up for that in book form!

Kaylee is an author, she writes southern, “life on the ranch” love stories - the funny thing? She’s never been on a ranch, she’s petrified of horses, and she is in an awful writing slump. Her editor suggests that she get down and dirty and arranges for her to spend the weekend with her brother Luke on his ranch. As soon as she arrived her eyes grew huge - THIS is her brother? *swoon* Feelings start flying but is Luke falling for Kaylee or the version of Kaylee that she’s created since she arrived - mostly the personality of the brave, adventurous “southern belle” heroine in her series, Sunny, and a little bit of authentic Kaylee?

This book read like a typical Hallmark movie, predictable, cozy, and a lighthearted clean romance. Luke definitely had a few lines that made me go ❤️😊, but overall this was everything you’d expect from the reliability of Hallmark.

3.5 stars - this was a cute cowboy romance!

I adored both MC's - Kaylee and Luke. Kaylee is an introvert, but is forced to come out of her shell when visiting Luke's ranch in Montanta. And Luke, ow owwwww. I mean who doesn't love a cowboy?!?!

However in my opinion, the characters didn't have much depth and at times the story felt a bit of the story predictable. But overall, it was a fun read.

I would check this book out if you like - small town, closed door, opposites attract, and beautiful settings.

Thank you NetGalley, Jennie Marts, and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC.

🐴 Synopsis
Kaylee Collins, a shy city-dweller, is writing a Western romance—and getting the details wrong. Her editor insists that Kaylee learn more about country life by spending a week at a working ranch. Kaylee reluctantly agrees as long as she can bring Gladys, her slightly overweight Corgi.

To rustle up her courage, Kaylee channels the spirit of the fearless heroine of her story. But she’s shocked when she meets Luke Montgomery—the spitting image of her handsome cowboy hero!

As far as Luke’s concerned, Kaylee’s books are pure fantasy. Love hurts, and he should know: he lost his wife a few years back. But he finds himself amused, and then enchanted, by this woman who bravely tries new things and whose heart seems to be as big as the Montana sky. Can they both dare to start a new chapter together?

💭 Thoughts:
This was a fun, quick read. I enjoy small town romance stories. Kaylee and Luke are both such likable characters. Luke is one of my fav book boyfriends now! I loved all of the references in farm life and the interactions with the animals. Kaylee’s corgi, Gladys was the cutest!

The ending was a bit over the top in my opinion, but I could see the author was trying to tie Kaylee and Luke’s love story to that of Kaylee’s book characters Duke and Sassy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this contemporary small town romance. It’s a clean romance, so it isn’t for those looking for a lot of steam! It’ll definitely have you laughing and smiling the whole time.
