This audio ARC was gifted to me by netgalley and the publisher.

I loved the idea of this book, we are following a jury as they decide about a rape case. She said that she was drunk and was taken advantage of, and they said that she was a willing participant. They must decide who is telling the truth. Who do they believe?

Like I stated earlier, I loved the premise of the book. It hooked me in right away, but I do not think that it was executed like it could have been. I wanted more out of this book. I wanted it to provoke more emotion and hard topics. It seems like it would, but it just fell slightly short for me.

this was a hard book at first for me to really get into. once i did it was a good story & grabbed my attention. i did feel like the back & forth was almost too abrupt in a sense that made you feel reading whiplash sometimes.

Wow. Just. Wow! I absolutely loved this book!

There were several points of view of the night in question, and the Narrators were brilliant.

I felt the twists were good, as was the character development, and loved the ending.

I posted on Goodreads, and I hope this helps people choose this book! I’m sorry, I’m very new at this!

Two people can describe a very different experience of the same situation without either of them lying.... but what happens when multiple people are involved, and your story is the only outlier? Beginning at the end-- with jury deliberations for a rape trial involving a celebrity and his friends-- 'She Said, Three Said' carefully explores a topic most writers would shy away from.

While out one night, Sabrina meets a man she doesn't recognize as a celebrity. There's an initial attraction, but he's out with friends and she's out alone. Over the course of the evening, all four have too much to drink and the initially desired one on one sexual experience gets way out hand. Now, in the aftermath, a jury must use only the very limited CCTV evidence and the statements of each of the people involved to determine whether or not a crime was committed.

As the jury looks back over the trial, we, the reader, move forward in time, from the moment Sabrina meets the group of men to the very end of the night. Telling the story through alternating perspectives, the author beautifully illustrates just how complex sexual encounters can be and how murky the truth can be for those involved, let alone for jurors.

While I think this book approached the topic carefully, I could see this being a tough read for rape survivors or people who have had similarly questionable experiences. I believe it took a hard look at how there isn't necessarily a cut and dry villain and bully in a lot of these cases, which is a pretty controversial thing to take on especially in this climate. While definitely NSFW, as a person with no personal experience with something like this, I thought it was approached sensitively.

Name of Book: She Said, Three Said
Author: David S. Lyons
Narrators: Amy Creighton, Stephen Dalton, Patrick Fitzsymons. Jack Boylan, and Sean Doyle
Publisher: Dreamscape Audio
Genre: Courtroom Drama
Pub Date: July 7, 2022
My Rating: 3.6 rounded up

I was drawn to this high-profile celebrity trial ~ as I enjoy ‘Good Courtroom’ drama. (I was a big Perry Mason fan for years!!)
I knew this was a rape trial and was concern that it might be a bit too graphic. Yep it was disturbing😪
But the story had me curious.

The story leads up to the trail with the POV of Sabrina and the each of three men~ Jason, Zach, and Li. She Said: Three men raped her by first getting her drunk and then took advantage of her
Three Said: She was a willing participant and consented to having sex with each of them.

Story then takes us into the courtroom and then into the jury’s deliberation room.

I was on the fence as to who was really at fault but I was leaning one way.
The ending was indeed a surprise!
Interesting cover with 'Me Too' demonstrators!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sit on the jury for a sexual assault case? Could you put aside your feelings and own experiences to make a decision? This book takes you on a journey from all perspectives- the woman, the men and the jurors. It made me stop and think what I would do as a juror. I didn’t really like Sabrina and wasn’t sure where she was coming from.

I loved the plot of getting to sit in, on a jury deliberation. Hearing all the opinions and their backgrounds was fascinating. I liked the dual view points of the jury and those that were involved that night!

4/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio Arc in exchange for a honest review!

This was a really interesting premise that would've been fabulous if executed properly.

The premise is a glimpse inside the jury deliberations of a rape trial. Sabrina claims Jason and his 3 friends raped her on a night out. I appreciated the nuance of the characters. Everyone was flawed, as humans are, but there were times I leaned to one side and then the other.

The follow through just wasn't great. It needed more editing. It got repetitive going through the same situation between the 3 men and Sabrina so many times and then hearing the jury opine on it too. It would sort of come out of nowhere. It wasn't structured very well.

Great idea, it just needs more work.

I listened to the audio version of “She Said, Three Said.” The books plot I felt was interesting, but it was lacking. I don’t think the characters were developed enough & the book became very repetitive. It felt as though you could skim through most of this book & not miss anything.

It’s her word against theirs. She says she was attacked and sexually assaulted by the three men. They say she consented to everything and now after a lengthy trial, a jury will have to decide who is telling the truth. Now that it’s in their hands, only one thing is clear, no one on the jury knows who to believe. Lyons guides readers through this shocking mystery by introducing the jury members and their backgrounds to help explain how they reach their shocking conclusion
