So it Goes was the 2nd book on the Twist of Fate Series but can be read as a stand-alone as I was able to follow along with having read the first book in the series.

Malia and Palmer have a love - hate relationship. They met as business associates but there is an underlying attraction between them too.

For me this book was a bit slow at first. It seemed to me that the affection was more one sided and that Malia spent a lot of time rebuffing Palmer’s advances.

Queue the need for a plus one at a wedding for each of them and fake dating commences. Both of their families have been at them for not settling down so they have their work cut out for them at these weddings.

This is where the story started to pick up for me. Although there were moments that made me feel engaged, I wasn’t falling for the characters as much as I had hoped to.

I have been a fan of Jennifer Probst’s work for years and this being her 50th release she sprinkled in some past characters.

Although this may not have been a 5 star read for me it doesn’t mean someone will not enjoy it more

This is the 2nd book in this incredible series, and this is Palmer and Malia’s story. Malia is confident, career focused, but lonely, after watching all the people around her meet their significant others. Palmer is sexy, arrogant, and a powerful CEO, and does not do relationships, but from the moment he met Malia he has had his eye on her. These two are complete opposites, who butt heads, and challenges each other, but the chemistry between them is undeniable, and when they both need dates for family weddings, they agree to fake date. This is a beautifully written story with family, friendships, romance, intrigue, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and heartfelt page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Malia is a woman who knows what she wants, and she wants it all. She has a successful career, but wants a husband, and children. She feels like fate is not working for her so she makes decisions that will help her get at least some of what she wants. Then Palmer, someone she has worked with for a while, comes and shakes it all up. He changes his grizzly attitude to something more attractive and starts to pursue her. Palmer is used to getting what he wants and is not willing to take no for an answer. He just must learn that he has to let Malia set the pace some of the time.

It was fun to watch Palmer figure out how to open Malia’s heart to what they could have together. He was head over heels for her, but she was still being cautious. She was not willing to give up her plans for something that was not a sure thing. I really liked these two together. They are both powerful and successful in their business but not so much in their love lives. They had different goals but ultimately want the same thing, love and respect.

So It Goes is a fun and easy romance book. The reader knows where the story will end and has ideas on how it will get there. There are a few surprises but nothing too shocking. If you are looking for a book that will tug at your heart and let you just enjoy without having to think too hard this is the book for you.

I really tried to like this book, but I was so bored with Malia, I didn't like her character so I found it hard to relate. Palmer was an amazing guy on paper, but his character seemed so far fetched and unrealistic that I struggled to keep reading. The plot just didn't come together for me and didn't hold my interest.

Palmer and Malia are both strong, career minded people. They both own their own companies and she is in charge of his ad campaigns. He has been pretending to be arrogant and hard to work for, but he has finally decided to let her see who he really is and ask her out on a date. Unfortunately, she has walls of steel erected and can’t stand him, even if she finds him attractive.
I enjoyed the fact that once he let his interest be known, he was all in, even if he told himself he didn’t want a commitment. He was supportive and understanding and had a heart of gold. Her defensive side was kind of irritating at times, but little by little you see cracks in the wall.
The banter between them was great and the chemistry was fantastic. I loved the conversation they had about their families and their beliefs. Other than how stubborn she was (at times excessively so) I really enjoyed how their relationship developed and how the conflict was resolved. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Probst writes next.
I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

4.5 ⭐

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: fake relationship, billionaire, boy obsessed, slow burn

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: character with ovarian cysts and fertility struggles

Malia is a strong woman and knows what she wants, but she has only one desire. To be a wife and a mother.

Palmer is arrogant, drives Malia crazy and is obsessed with her. He doesn't want to settle down, although his family believes and reminds him that is the time do it.

Malia and Plamer have to pretend that they are in a relationship, because they are both invited to a wedding. The more time they spend, the more Malia develops feeling for Palmer. I also liked the fact that Palmer understands that Malia has problems with her fertility and supports her in this process.

But, although Palmer is very obsessed with her and doesn't give up until he gets what he wants, at one point he becomes persistent. Nor is Malia above him. She though Palmer's affectionate behavior and everything he said was a lie, but all this anti-Palmer thing became very irritating. Just give him a chance already!!

I would have likes Malia to be more confident and to see that Palmer is not as bad as she actually thought, and for Palmer to give her more space and not be so pushy.

Thank you Valelentine PR, NetGalley and Jennifer Probst for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it as much as the first book. The second book is about Malia and she is an amazing character. While moving forward with her "life plan" she realizes that things are missing. That being said she is afraid of trying to capture what she wants most in life. Her nemesis Palmer also has some issues he is struggling to overcome. These two have a pull to each other from the start but struggle to accept their attraction. The way these two come together is a great read. The subplot in this book between Mike and Emma is also an extremely cute story. This book could be read as a stand alone however as always it is better to read the series in full and hopefully in order. This is a great read if you are looking for an entertaining romance book with lots of ups and downs, angst and attraction.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.

I really liked that in this story it was Palmer who was open with his feelings, not only Malia. It’s nice to read about a man with courage to show his heart! Palmer is swoonworthy 🥰

This is the second book in the series Twist of Fate and the first one, Meant to Be, was great.

You can read this as a stand alone but I encourage you to read the first book first since I enjoyed it 🥰

What a treat, I simply devoured this book!

It addresses some themes that warrant a content warning, while managing to remain lighthearted throughout. I read much of this book with a grin on my face thanks to the banter between the MCs. I give all my stars to Malia simply for her resolve, I would have caved a loooooong time before she did. Slow burn indeed!

It’s an enemies to lovers, he falls first delight that required great skill in not making Palmer’s persistence appear obsessive or irritating.

So It Goes releases on September 13 (for free in KU) and this book could easily become a comfort read for me.

*** Thank you to NetGalley and the author for allowing me to read a copy of this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion ***

Going into this I didn't even realise that it was the second in a series, but I can safely say that this can be read as a standalone and be enjoyed just as much as if you had read the first one! I thought I would like So It Goes as the fake-dating trope is such a staple of romance novels that it is almost a guarantee for success, which it certainly was here. The chemistry between Palmer and Malia was so strong, and I think it was definitely helped by the fact that they both come from these big families full of siblings. I really enjoyed these parts of the book, with their respective family dynamics showing just how well-suited they are to each other's lives. I did feel that Palmer was way too pushy in his pursuit in the beginning, and Malia too unwilling, but once they were together I felt myself enjoying reading it.

Unfortunately this fake date romance didn't work for me.
I liked the premise (fake dating is one of my favorites) but the romance fell flat for me.
The characters didn't really have any chemistry and I felt the heroine was being pressured to "fake date" the hero. The romance between them felt forced which took me out of the story. I did not like the hero at all. I felt that he was almost forcing the heroine to date him which makes him icky in my opinion.
I did like the inclusion of the heroine's fertility treatments and her thoughts/feelings about it. This plot line felt modern and unique. I also liked how it was written.
I also felt too much time was spent on side characters. This was time that could have been spent on developing the romance between the main characters.
Overall, I was disappointed with this book since I've heard good things about Jennifer Probst.

An enjoyable romance and a “tug of war”, between two strong personalities. Malia Evergreen is looking forward to shifting her work for CEO Palmer Matterson to her new advertising and marketing employee. She doesn’t want to lose his business for her company Quench, but she can no longer work for or with him. Palmer has no plans to allow her to walk away as he enjoys their encounters. He must change his strategy and show her that he is not the total jerk that she believes that he is. Her decision to work with a charity falls neatly into his plans…he will work with her! Her friends believe that she has found “the one” and now she needs Palmer to be her date for a wedding. A little bit too much back and forth between them for me, but entertaining none the less. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

The story of one could say two workaholics, Malia, a advertising exec and Palmer a wedding planner tycoon. They work together, but Palmer just rubs Malia the wrong way. Finally she is thrilled to drop the ball on Palmer and tells him she has a new position and will not be working with him. Palmer is totally thrown for a loop, he loves aggravating Malia, actually he really wants to get to know her better. Malia wants nothing to do with Palmer, but when they both need dates to family weddings and to appease pushy family members they come to a agreement to be each other fake date.
The story touches on a few topics, what it is like to be a child of different races, the ticking clock of women and pregnancy. But the overall story was a little lacking, Palmer constantly trying to get Malia to go on a date…..the man couldn’t get the message…..no is no. Was just to unbelievable for me, but that is just my opinion. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #SoitGoes

So It Goes by Jennifer Probst, her fiftieth novel, was a 'the man falls first' fake dating romance.
Malia is a confident and career-driven woman busy balancing work with preparing for fertility treatments. After a year of working in marketing for a wedding empire boss Palmer Matterson, she announces she is leaving the advertising sector and apparent asshole Palmer panics about making his move on Malia. He has been secretly pining after her for the last 12 months pretending to be a mean boss and chasing the back-and-forth banter. The instance she announces her departure, Palmer requests her company in his office to explain himself and the sudden shift in personality makes Malia angry, thinking he is playing a game just to sleep with her.
The will-they-won't-they back and forth and chemistry between the two is electric and you cannot stop reading until you know where their relationship will go!
Although the romance was fantastic, it had fantastically written topics such as racism, fertility, sexism and societal pressures on women to marry and settle down. Palmer was raised with three sisters and his mother so had plenty of insight into the difficulties women face every day. It was refreshing not to read an egotistical and misogynistic male in a romance book which is often the personality type written about.
I think Jennifer Probst found the perfect balance between conflict, romance and plot.
I will definitely be reading more by this author and hope for a book about Tessa and Ford!
Thanks so much!

With family pressure and the need to fit into society's norm, Malia and Palmer find themselves on the fast track to romance. With a few bumps along the way.

This contemporary romance had a different feel than other Probst reads. Palmer worked overtime to win Malia’s heart. Malia was dealing with her own set of issues that would make any woman's head spin, add falling in love to the mix, and as they say the rest of it is history...

So It Goes is Probst’s fiftieth book and I'm happy to say I've read them all. I enjoyed reading the way she celebrated her fiftieth with this story. Over a solid read that has me invested in her new series. I am hoping for more from the Twist of Fate Series.

Absolut perfection!
I simply couldn't put it down. And this was not a short story!

This is Malia's book, part of the Quench founding members. They run a site dedicated to women, bold, inclusive, always diving into their everyday problems. She is happy to finally tell the collaborator she loathes that she will pass her job to a colleague. She wants to focus on the Quench Foundation.

Turns out he was insufferable in a childish way, enjoying their banter too much. But their chemistry is off the chart and they both give it their best to niggle the other one. Palmer realizes quickly his game was wrong and so begins a long journey of him trying to convince Malia to give them a chance.

There is no sentence useless in this book. There is no scene too much. It is written to perfection. The build up is sassy and wonderful, their getting close is heartfelt and respectful and their love making is sizzling. This book is pure beauty and romance.

There are the friends that are family, the families that are not that bad, the little children, the funny employees, the heartwarming cause, Malia's fertility journey that was so interesting to read, this book had so much substance and so much beauty. It was an absolute pleasure to get immersed into this world and Kate's appearance with her gift simply melted my heart.

I received a copy of this in order to offer my personal view on it.

Malia Evergreen has wanted the whole package in life, great career, loving husband and kids. The problem is, her dating history is a bust. When her family is giving her flack about getting married, she says she is dating someone. Of course, her family is having a wedding and she needs to bring her “boyfriend.” She strikes a deal with her client Palmer Matterson, to go to each other’s family wedding. Palmer is a billionaire who runs a wedding empire. He has been crushing on his marketing rep, Malia, for the past year. When Malia proposes that they pretend to be significant others to get their families off of their backs, this provides Palmer with the perfect opportunity to persuade Malia to date him for real. What I loved about this book, Palmer. He is a bit of a unicorn, rich, hot, likes to bake, and understands women. What I had a bit of a problem with was Malia. There were several times I felt like shaking my iPad and yelling “Quit being a stubborn idiot!” Overall an enjoyable book if you can put up with a frustrating character. This is the second book in this series and can be read as a stand-alone. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Jennifer Probst is such a fantastic author. So it Goes is an emotional, whitty, and talented book. Thank you Netgalley for this romance!

I found Jennifer Probst in 2018 and have followed her since then. I enjoy her books so much. She writes well with great storylines and wonderful characters. This series has such a different feel to it. It amazes me. These two characters, Palmer and Malia, are both stubborn in their own ways. Palmer stole my heart early on, but Malia took awhile for me to love. I certainly got there! I love the friendship between the characters so much. It warms my heart. I look forward to the next book. I'm hoping Mike and Emma get their own book. For me, they stole the show!

Thank you NetGalley and Valentine PR for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.
