This was a great book! Business associates working together for a year and constantly having heated conversations during the pro meetings. Now that Malia is shifting to a different department at her business she will no longer have to deal with the snooty Palmer. Palmer has enjoyed aggravating Malia for a year but when he is told that this was his last meeting with her he can’t let things end here. He has slowly developed feelings for her but hid behind his snide remarks and now she doesn’t believe him when he is trying to show her who he really is. Palmer is in love with Malia but will she finally give them a chance to see if they can make it? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Malia and Palmer. Malia is in publishing a magazine and Palmer owns a wedding planning company that advertises in Malia’s magazine. They have an instant attraction. They each have their own issues up together they work them out and fall in love.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.

Malia is working with Palmer as an Ad Rep for her company Quench. Palmer is smitten but misjudges his approach. A bit of cat and mouse, misunderstandings and wanting different things make life difficult. I found Malia a little annoying... I'm not sure how often she mentions the path she is taking (no spoilers) but she uses it to push people away.

I just couldn't get on with this book which is disappointing because I've always heard very good things about the author.

I just couldn't get on with the premise or characters. It would have been fine if either his family were determined to marry him off and were setting him up on blind dates, or just her family, but both was just too much. It was repetitive because the same conversations and feelings were had just with different groups.

I also didn't understand why Palmer had pretended to be an arsehole to get Malia and then constantly whined because she thought he was an arsehole? I thought he was an idiot.

Didn't like this one at all, sorry.

When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect book to snuggle up with on any day.

I felt a bit mixed about this book. I loved that the leading woman was a POC and that the book featured several strong female leads from the black community, and how everyone lifted each other up, even when they didn’t fully understand the decisions being made. The bits I wasn’t keen on are mainly to do with the relationship between our leading man and woman. Our male lead was giving me major red flag vibes with his conduct which began as slightly abusive to our heroine, and then when he realised he wasn’t getting what he wanted, he then turned on the charm, whilst still strong arming our heroine into what he wanted. I’m sure the author meant it to come across as just a caring alpha male, and made sure to write that our heroine was constantly turned on by him, but it just came across as behaviour that would lead to an abusive relationship due to his controlling nature. I skipped over the sex scenes as I wasn’t interested in them, just the overall story, so can’t comment on them. I wish our hero wasn’t as controlling, and our heroine did carry on with decisions she’d started instead of relenting for the hero, as this would’ve been a better ending than her compromising on everything and him in nothing. Sadly I can’t recommend as a romance novel due to the controlling element in all the romance

Two people with little in common but business give pleasure a shot in a charming romance about fate and taking chances by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

The truth? Lonely advertising rep Malia Evergreen is still waiting for a soul mate, marriage, and a family. The lie? Telling every busybody she knows that she’s met someone. Now it’s a matter of finding him. Malia needs a date for a wedding. In a pinch she strikes a bargain with her former client, CEO Palmer Matterson—an arrogant, defiantly single, alpha billionaire whose best quality is insincerity. The perfect fake date.

Palmer has wanted Malia from the first moment he saw her. A challenging, sexy career woman who knows what she wants. It’s just not him. Not yet, anyway. This is Palmer’s chance to win her heart.

As fate throws them together, Malia unravels the layers of the man she thought she knew and, against the odds, finds herself falling in love. Palmer’s falling too. If only they can convince each other what they share…a belief in a happy ever after.

Isn't this the way it usually goes? The person that you really are interested in is the one that you are the hardest on. Palmer has just pushed Malia too far and she cannot stand him. It is interesting to see their relationship come around in this book though. They have a lot in common and he is there for her in ways that no one else has been.

I try to change up my reading list by adding a romance here and there. This definitely hit the spot! A little racy, but I feel like that goes with the territory. This was a nice, easy read to distract me for a few hours.

I really liked it. It was quite fast paced and has an amazing writing style, with relatable characters, the thought provoking yet simple language. But, what I really loved the most was the sweeping romance; the angst, the chemistry how Probst heavily focuses on individual character growth and development too amidst everything!

Malia and Palmer are arch enemies in their working relationship. Palmer proposes a different type of relationship and wants Malia to pretend to be a girlfriend for a cousins wedding. Faye intervenes and the two start having feelings for each other. Can their differences be overcome and lead to a real love story?

This book took me three days to finish. I am starting with that because it is telling. I normally finish a book in one sitting. If I MUST put it down, I still normally finish it within 24 hours. This book was just too easy for me to put down and then come back to. (I read two other books during the down time from this one.) It wasn't a bad book, it was just pretty slow moving. I really enjy Jennifer Probst books, but I must admit, this one fell a bit short for me. It was well written, with no memorable typos, but while I really like Palmer, Malia was a bit too stuck in her ways for me to totally engage with her. I'm not really sure I bought them as a couple. I will say, however, as someone with two sisters of my own, they were quite spot on with both character's sisters. Loved them! lol

I'm giving this book 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because it is much better than a 3 star read. Not a full 4 stars because I thought it was slow. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy!

It took me awhile to get into this story. But I loved the main characters and the secondary characters too. The romance felt a bit forced, but with the heavy subject matter, maybe that was it. Palmer was a tough nut to crack. Malia was fierce, but I loved her vulnerability.

There were so many things going for this book that should have worked for me, but I struggled through it. And I entirely believe that this is a ‘me’ problem and might be a book enjoyed by others. It took me a really long time to warm up to the characters. Even though Palmer came out and said that he was putting on an act to rile up Malia, it still made me not like or trust him for a good portion of the book. I really liked what we got of Malia in the first book, but I liked her a little less in this one. I admired her drive and passion and her tough as nails attitude, but there was something about her that didn’t work for me and I can’t even put into words what it was.

Their relationship felt very forced, and that’s where I started to struggle. I like a man who is persistent as much as the next person, but I think Palmer was a little too persistent and at times it felt like he was forcing Malia to be with him without much choice. And when they did start dating, it didn’t have the oomph that I expected. It continued to feel like they were both obligated to follow through and were doing this because they didn’t have a choice. And if you know me well enough, you know I’m a sucker for a good fake dating plot. But this one just didn’t work.

I did love all of the time we spent with the friends and I liked the inclusion of Malia’s struggle with her fertility. I even liked seeing Palmer with his family and his sisters. I loved the topic of charity and giving back and seeing the other sides of these characters. Like in the first book, I was not a fan of the whole Emma/Mike plotline, that took up a lot of room in this book that I think I would have been okay without.

On the whole, an okay read. There was something missing, I just can’t tell you what it was.

This book is basically about how confidence confronts arrogance and the journey to find a level playing field where both are equally needy and in need of the same thing above all things material -love. Malia is a confident, successful agent who collaborates with Palmer's company for the purpose of advertising and marketing.Palmer has long wanted Malia and has tried a few underhanded ways to be in her presence, but Malia has stubbornly remained focused on her goal sans distraction.Funny how love always throws a wrench into well laid plans. With both spending a lot of time together and imperceptibly getting to know each other's true character, their previous misconceptions take a back seat and something else rears its head and refuses to be ignored.Laugh along, commiserate and analyze the situations they get into as they discover what truly matters-people.The dialogue and pace flowed well and the book was descriptive enough to form images and ascribe personalities to the main characters.Miss Probst is a seasoned writer and it becomes obvious with this book.

This is the second book in the Twist of Fate series. Since I didn't read book one, I can honestly say it can be read as a stand-alone novel. This book features two people who are feeling pressured by their respective families to settle down with the "one." Although, in the case of Malia, she has given up on waiting for the "one" and is actively pursuing fertility treatments to take the pressure off of finding the one. Both need dates to family weddings, so they agree to be each other's fake dates. However, there's just one problem. Well actually many problems but the biggest might be that Palme actually does want to date Malia and she's just not that into him. Or is she?
This was a fairly enjoyable contemporary romance by Jennifer Probst and it happens to be her fiftieth book, so she sprinkled in some characters from past books through the story. Although I will admit that I didn't like this book as much as some of her other novels only because I didn't really like the characters as much as I would have liked. There were just too many instances of Malia saying no to Palmer's requests for dates, almost like she was being pushed into dating him.

I loved the last books this author did and this one didn’t disappoint. Definitely had all the elements I was looking for in a book. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone

Jennifer Probst is an auto-buy author for me. I like that she can create a series that tracks three different couples and gets the reader invested in the friend circle. I struggled with this book because I didn’t love Malia and Palmer. Malia is a closed off character, which made sense in the story; however, as a reader I also felt closed off from Malia. I liked her, but I didn’t feel connected to her. For Palmer, a lot of his actions were swoon-worthy, but he also came across as selfish and overbearing, so it was really hard to root for him. Overall, the book moved a little slow for me. I felt like there was too much internal monologue, but somehow I still didn’t feel connected to the two main characters. I still enjoyed the book, and definitely plan to read the next in the series to see what the characters are up to.
