I'm a sucker for this story line so I knew I would love this book! The timeline jumps around but doesn't make the story confusing. Good premise and I couldn't stop reading to find out what would happen next! My first from this author but won't be my last.

This was the perfect escapism from some of the thrillers I've been reading recently.

We often hear the phrase 'in an other life' and loosely throw it around. In Jose's case, due to a random accident and a glitch in the universe she gets to live another life as another Josie.

Josie 2.0 seems to have it all the handsome rich husband, the penthouse, the body, the job... Seems perfect but there are things she misses from her old life, which the other Josie is currently living.

In the way Sliding doors is very 'what if' as in what if we missed the train this story is slightly different and has a more Sci Fi aspect.

Without giving too much away, ultimately whatever universe you're in, you end up exactly where you are supposed to be.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.

Thank you Netgalley and Joffee Books for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows Josie, who, on her 36th birthday, gets into a bike accident that plunges her into another life. She wakes up to find herself in “Other Josie’s” life, in an alternate universe, next to a man she doesn’t know who claims to be her husband.

This was a really neat book, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was eager to find out how it ended. Josie was a super likeable character, and I loved that her relationship with her best friend Suzie was consistent and stable throughout. I enjoy reading books with parallel universes, I think they’re so fascinating. I loved that the reader gets to learn what’s going on alongside Josie, gaining bits of information throughout. This book really pulled at my heartstrings at times.

This would be a really great summer read. I would highly recommend this book.

I wanted to like this book so badly, but it was just okay. The plot of The Love of my Other Life and the style of writing feels like something straight out of a creative writing class. It's about a young woman named Josie Cavendish who gets into a bike accident and wakes up as another version of herself in an alternate universe. The same thing happens to the “other” version of herself from the other universe. So we have two Josies from two universes struggling to cope with the unfamiliar lives they find themselves in, including different occupations, love interests, experiences, etc. The synopsis is interesting, sure, but it feels rather predictable, especially with the parallel structure that narrates what happens to the two Josies, and begins to feel repetitive at times. It had the potential to become a really mind-blowing romance-thriller but didn't completely get there.

I guess with all the recent craze over the multiverse in movies and TV shows this is a fitting time for this book to come out. But unfortunately, The Love of My Other Life just wasn’t for me and that's okay.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

Definitely the most unusual romance I've read so far this year! Very "Sliding Doors" vibes here -- I liked that the two versions of Josie had strong similarities as well as significant differences and motivations, and the story takes complex twists and turns that keep the reader on their toes all the way to the final page. Will for sure be recommending this one to friends!

“The Love of My Other Life” is a debut romance/alternative universe book by CJ Connolly. In many ways this book reminded me of some other books - The Disappearance (Philip Wylie) and Maybe In Another Life (Taylor Jenkins Reid). We follow “Me” (Josie 1.0) and “Her” (Josie 2.0) as they get switched into each others lifelines. They both spend a year “switched” before returning to their previous lives. In Josie 1.0’s life, she’s single - in Josie 2.0’s life, she’s married.

I found the topic and execution - for the most part - well done. It was rather easy to keep the two Josie’s separate. I liked the fact that both versions of Josie kept a diary to fill the other one in on what had happened. There were some points I didn’t really like (such as when “Her” lambasted her husband, though she practically did the same thing). As odd as this sounds, I felt sorry for “Me” as she was honestly trying to figure out what was going on and adapt as best she could; “Her” seemed to constantly be annoyed - including with the fact that money was an issue (but she kept spending Josie 1.0’s money without thinking about it). But, overall, this was an enjoyable book with a great concept.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Joffe books!

It's Josie's 36th birthday party. She is single and hoping to finally be with Peter. As she is riding to her birthday party, she is in a bike accident. She wakes up and it's not her life? She's married to Rob, has a different job, and her brother who was previously alive is dead. She is trying to figure out how to get back to her old life while trying to slowly accept where she is now.

I like how this is told with both Josies in the wrong life. It makes you think about if you were somehow in this situation, what life would you choose? I really liked this one!

Josie had a bike crash on her 36th birthday and she woke up in a completely different life - she had a husband she didn't recognize, she was living a rich life as opposed to what she was used to and she had to adjust to the new life that she had.

I love the book! Really enjoyed reading it! The doctor's explanation as to why she had a different life made complete sense, so it was sort of shocking to find out the truth. Reading the story from the two perspectives was great, I got to know what the other person was thinking and experiencing too. I really love the ending!! Makes you think that if it's meant to be, it will be (cliche, but Connolly turned it into a somewhat amazing concept).

like this story. I enjoyed the switching of the bodies and seeing both sides of this character's life play out. I enjoyed how it for different parts and hats with him live and how it changes directions. It is a very unique story and it makes you think about your own choices in your life. What an Ending I absolutely enjoyed it.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of "The Love of my Other Life" by C.J. Connolly.

I must admit, I fell for pretty cover syndrome but WOW this book. At first, you think Josie has amnesia but then as the story unravels you find out its a multiverse???? What???

It was so interesting and I've never actually seen a book do this concept.

This was a totally fascinating book. Split lives is incredibly hard to pull off but Connolly does it with grace and humor and pathos. I was riveted and couldn't imagine how she was going to pull off the ending but it was really pitch perfect.

This was an original story that had several twists I didn't see coming! A complicated storyline is told beautifully and you really feel the main character's dilemma, from multiple viewpoints. An excellent read!

I really enjoyed the first half of this book but by the end I was simply exhausted by it! The two timelines didn’t flow well but I was invested in the characters, just wish the plot had been slightly different

Josie meets with an accident on her 36th birthday and wakes up in an alternate timeline in a posh hospital room, next to a man who claims to be her (NYC pent house rich) husband of two years.

The multiverse concept was really interesting and I love me some classic 'they fall in love in every alternate timeline/universe' trope and this book did that so well. I had no expectations going in because I'm new to this author's work so this book surprised me in a good way. I was invested and curious to know how things worked out for everybody! The ending was pretty satisfying too.

Will recommend, it's a good summer read!

The Love of My Other Life by C.J. Connolly

Josie has a bicycle accident on her birthday, she wakes up in the hospital. The handsome man by her side, holding her hand and telling her he loves her, is Rob, her husband of two years. Josie has no idea how she got here, in this new life.

This was a fun book, I thought the author did a great job of executing a complex story line. I really liked the characters. This will be a good summer read

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to speak about one of the best books I’ve read this year, The Love Of My Other Life.. I love the concept of the multiverse and this story of the two Josie’s/or one Josie from 2 different worlds. It’s like you get to experience a life where your current reality/situation is the answer to your what if’s. To me, the whole concept is brilliant and I consider it a fun romcom read with a dramatic flare. As a fan of the genre, I definitively enjoyed it and when the book ended, I felt complete. I will miss these characters. It’s so worth reading this book if you're a romcom fan! Can’t recommend it enough!

I enjoyed this a lot! Echoing other reviewers in their commenting that if you're a fan of Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid then you'll really enjoy this one. I enjoyed Josie's character a lot and seeing the roads not taken (a la Sliding Doors) was really interesting. However, the shift between Josie' narrations happens a good chunk into the book. By the time you're really invested in Josie's story, we hop to the other one and sort of start from the beginning again which felt so repetitive. I also have a few bug bears with two plot points that I feel are rather problematic when you start to pick them apart...
Really inventive with great characters - a strong author debut!

Rating: 2,5 stars. The love of my other life is C.J Connolly’s debut novel that’s releasing on June 30th. It’s a romance with a twist, the female MC accidentally ends up in a parallel universe. I found the blurb a little misleading so take it with a grain of salt. It’s way more complex than that.

At first glance I thought this was The Vow 2.0. It’s not. Josie didn’t just lose her memories from the past year, she’s convinced that she’s from another universe. The book starts of with Josie learning about the details of her life and getting to know her husband, Rob. And just as it’s start to make sense there’s another curveball.

We switch over to the other Josie and get to follow her journey. Basically the reader get to hear about the “same persons” life from two different timelines. It’s confusing and kind of repetitive, a lot of the same thing. They’re struggling mentally, feeling guilty and both of them wants their old life back.

I really like the idea but maybe it would have been better if it was written from only one Josie’s perspective. And then another book about the other one maybe. It could have been more in depth that way and I wish the final part was longer.

I don’t know if any of this makes any sense if you haven’t read it. Sorry about that. Honesty I’m a little confused to

4.5/5 stars

I loved this premise a lot, it reminded me of Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid, so if you loved that book, this is definitely a book you would enjoy! This was a book that I not only thoroughly enjoyed, but it made me think about the universe and the choices we make and where they lead, which is always an interesting concept to me. Also, I loved the way this book told the story and it had nice pacing. Even though it was not a considerable long book, it was absolutely perfect in length, it did not feel dragged out and I feel that it covered everything it needed to cover.

This book is about Josie who, on her 36th birthday, gets into an accident and ends up in a parallel universe, that seems absolutely perfect, apart from one thing. Should she stay in this new life or go back to her old life?

There was one thing though, that could have improved the book for me, but perhaps that is very personal. I would have liked it a little better if the way the author choose to tell the story was known a little earlier on, now it took a good 90 pages before I knew.

This book was super interesting from the very beginning. I really enjoyed Josie’s character and definitely tried to imagine how she must have felt in that situation! I went into this book blind and I’m glad that I did because it really surprised me in the best way! Definitely recommend this one.
