Jane and Edwin and all the others from Storyton Hall are looking for the person who murdered and posed the up and coming poet from the current contest being held. Was it another poet in the competition or someone from the company holding the contest? You have to wait until the end to find the answer there’s another murder before you’ll know the answer.

Jane Steward, manager of Stonyton Hall, an estate turned hotel that caters to bibliophiles, is hosting an event for the Current Mood Card Company. It is a contest for poets to win a contract for the new greeting card company, with a visiting poet and professor to inspire them. It is also only two weeks before Jane's best friend Eloise is getting married, so Jane is a little more stressed than usual. There are three major contenders for the prize contract and while out for a morning stroll Jane finds one of them dead in a canoe on their lake in a pose reminiscent of the Lady of Shallot painting by John Waterhouse and reminds her of the poem by Tennyson. Then Jane's Uncle Aloysius begins to show signs of memory loss and there is a theft from the secret library. Fortunately, Jane has allies among her staff and her book club, The Cover Girls, and especially her lover Edwin and her middle school age twin sons, Fitzgerald and Hemingway. This is the eighth book in the Book Retreat Mysteries and readers should start at the beginning as I don't want to give away too much about the secret library and Jane's stewardship. The characters have developed over the series, and it is a community it might be nice to live in. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Jane has decided that sponsoring a poetry/greeting card competition might be relaxing after the last few months of chaos and murder. Then she discovers a body, and their lives are turned upside down. Are poets really that vicious?

Murder on the Poets Walk is the 8th book in this delightful series. Jane Steward is the manager and Guardian of the secret library of a book themed resort located in Virginia. Known as Storyton Hall. Storybook Hall is full of poets eager to win a coveted greeting card contract with a new company. A corpse is discovered in a rowboat, posed as a poetic character. When one of the suspects is murdered, also posed as a poetic character. Jane and the Fins work with the sheriff to find the killer before the upcoming wedding of Jane's close friend Eloise. This was a wonderful cozy with likeable characters and lots of red herrings which kept me guessing until the very end. This is one of my favorite book series. Thank you to the publishers and to netgalley for the advance copy!

Murder on the Poet’s Walk is the latest book in this series by Ellery Adams.
Jane is a fun character who is always getting herself tangled up in a murder investigation.
Jane takes her job as guardian of the books at Storyton Hall very seriously, and I feel bad for anyone who challenges her.
The wedding of Jane’s best friend is only days away, so Jane has to solve the murder of a visiting poet, quickly and quietly. She enlists the help of her friends and soon they begin to unravel the knot of lies and deceit, narrowing down the suspect list one at a time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

This review is done at 45% because I'm afraid to go further or I might do spoilers. Set in a family and book oriented Bed and Breakfast, there is a full listing of the cast of characters at the beginning of the book. The story centers around a group of people auditioning to be poets for an up and coming greeting card company. The first murder is a representation of the Lady of Shallot, immediately followed by the experienced sleuths getting in some groundwork to work with the local law. There are a few interesting plot twists, and red herrings abound!
Now that the review is done I'm going back to finish reading!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
Bibliophile is such a polite word, but I still prefer book addict.

Another wonderful mystery to solve at Storyton Hall with Jane, the Fins, Edwin, her boys Hem & Fitz, the loyal staff and last but not least the sleuths in training- the Cover Girls Book Club! This mystery finds Jane searching for a murderer among a group of poet's and facing the fact that Storyton Hall's security may have been breached. Now,Jane has to find a murderer and a thief!

When I read a Storyton Hall mystery, I feel like I'm coming "home" to all the wonderful characters. Each character is well-written and you feel as if they'll jump off the page........they are that "real". Along with the mystery, a family crisis occurs that affects everyone.

Find a cozy nook and settle in to join the sleuths of Storyton Hall solve a mystery that will keep you guessing "whodunit" until the very end!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Bibliophiles, who seek peace and quiet at Virginia's book-themed resort Storyton Hall will be delighted by the rooms like the Ian Fleming room with its cocktails named after different literary works including the James Bond spy thrillers.

In this novel, the poets are gathering for a contest organized by a start up greeting card company. The founders of this young greeting card company are looking for a Poet to pen witty phrases for their Greeting cards.

The characters are a wonderful mix of diversity from a Black man to a Fair skinned man with Red Hair to a young woman from Malaysia.

Jane Steaard, the resort manager of Storyton Hall AND Guardian of the Secret Library of Storyton Hall is excited about the forthcoming wedding of her dear friend Eloise who is about to marry Lachlan the Falconer, Jane is a young mother of twin boys named Fitz and Hem (after Fitzgerald and Hemingway). Jane's beloved Uncle is also dealing with memory loss.

Again,, ,murder threatens the peace and quiet of the book themed resort. One of the Poets is murdered then another Poet who was a suspect is also murdered. Jane and her Fins work with the Sheriff to try to find the killer before the wedding.

The plotting is clever with references to Tennyson's Lady of Shallot and other poems. And recent poems by recent Poets in Real Life like Amanda Gorman are mentioned in the novel.

There are many red herrings. I do not want to give away spoilers here. I loved this novel. This series is one of my favorites and I continue to delight in the new mysteries by Ellery Adams.

Many thanks to Kensington Books Publishing Corp. and #NetGalley for the eARC galley in exchange for an honest review.
