After forcing myself up to 33% of the book, I had to drop this one. I am so sorry, I know a lot of people might not agree with me, but I really could not take anymore of Silas's behavior. I guess the alpha male who thinks just because we kissed once means he can shout at me or he has any claim on me is not my thing, in fact it was very trauma inducing for anyone who has ever been in a abusive situation . The book should come with a trigger warning.

Not gonna lie, I was initially liking this book, (liked something) and was thinking about recommending to others until Silas went batshit crazy with his flirtations and kept pushing. It made me very uncomfortable, I was once in a similar situation with a university senior, who wouldn't take no for an answer and kept pushing like this 😑 It was borderline harassment.

As for the narration, I will give it a 4 star, the narrator has done a great job. The story itself deserves a 2 star from me. So an average 3 star for this book.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me a chance to read this book.

House flipping YouTube star Maddie Nichols travels to small town Kinship, Idaho for her next remodeling project. When she meets sexy landscaper Silas Wright her summer gets steamy 🥵 While she’s not interested in putting down roots she can’t deny the attraction she has to Silas.

Holy Moly y’all this book wasn’t what I expected. I thought this would focus a lot on the house renovations but there was more than meets the eye. Maggie is a complex character who you can’t help but love. And don’t even get me started on Sexy Silas 🌶 if you’re looking for workplace/small town romance, found family, a bit of treasure hunting and some cute animal shenanigans you should check this one out!

There was a lot packed into this rom-com. It was a delightful read with a good amount of spice!

Maggie is a house-flipping, YouTube famous single woman with her ex-husband as her business partner. I absolutely adored the friendship between her and Dean. Silas is a handsome, small-town landscaper that has the hots for Maggie. They couldn’t be more opposite in what they want for their futures. Maggie has lots of baggage and doesn’t have a jump-in attitude like Silas does about love and relationships. Silas comes on a little strong, but I feel it was necessary given how closed off Maggie is. This story roped me in with Silas’s pup, Kevin—the dog who named himself.

I love watching HGTV, so I enjoyed the renovation of the old Victorian mansion.I love that the house had a history that was uncovered during the process. I enjoyed all of the side characters and their connections to the main characters. Each story line provided depth to the overall novel.

This was a great read about finding one’s place and creating our own family with those we surround ourselves with.

Emma Wilder was an excellent narrator for this audiobook.

I enjoyed the story but could have done without the explicit sex scenes. I fast-forwarded through those. I enjoyed the small town coming together aspect.

Narrator 5 stars

Story 3 stars stars
This is a pleasant and light hearted read.
The men are super sweet and kind.
The women are sarcastic and quirky
Together they made very cheesy characters but in a really refreshing way.

First time trying this author and would definitely try again especially for a holiday read by a pool.

Cute story about finding your place in this world. I love home renovation shows so this book had the perfect setting for me. Maggie is a social media star/home flipper and her latest project makes me think about why she’s running away from friendships and relationships. I enjoyed getting to know Maggie, Silas, and their friends and family. This is the perfect vacation read.

Narration is well done, no issues.

This book was everything I want in a contemporary rom com and a few things I didn’t know I needed.

Our hero is a huge hot landscaper with an awesome blended family of parents and siblings including a brother tackling the milestone of fully coming out in a small town (however I was glad to see no trauma attached to this). He was refreshingly intuitive without being overly perfect, not commitment phobic and accompanied by a hilarious adorable pit bull named Kevin.

Our heroine has had a tough journey and pulled herself up by the bootstraps figuratively and literally. Making her way in the world flipping houses and filming it all for YouTube, doing as much of the work herself as possible.

The winding path of the mysterious past of both our heroines journey that has led her to this house and also the house itself unfolds in a way that is captivating and poignant. We uncover her past trauma that has made her the way she is and the secret inner life of the founding family of this grand home. I love a found family theme. Also there’s a treasure hunt. Who knew I needed that in a rom com?

Trigger warnings - parent death in the past, estranged parent, estranged half siblings, attempted hetero relationship when one partner is not actually hetero, coming out in a small town (it goes fine though).

Great book, awesome narration, perfect sound quality. 5/5

This story was so easy to fall in love with. The banter and lovable characters pull you in right from the beginning and make it impossible to let go. There were so many elements in this story and in another it might have been to much, but it worked so well in this story. I really enjoyed this listen!

Oh, this book! I am so sad to see it end and can easily say it’s one of my absolute favorites in this genre in a long time. It was a perfect balance of romance, family dynamics, personal growth, and small town kinship and camaraderie.

The story of Maggie, a self made YouTube house flipping celebrity, and Sy, a small town landscape will stay with me for a long time. I absolutely loved the additional family characters and the dive into the town’s (fictional) history.

It was also great on audio and I really enjoyed the narration by Emma Wilder. This was such a fun read and I’ll be over here waiting to see what this author comes up with next!

Lucy Score does some things really well, and one of them is a good, funny small-town romance. MAGGIE MOVES ON is definitely one of those romances. Sure, maybe it's variations on a theme: the heroine is relatable but just shy of "not like other girls," there's an enormous, overprotective hero, someone has a big, loud family and a sibling in need of some assistance, there's likely some kind of quirky animal and a local delicacy, and often there's an underlying mystery. But they're good themes, clearly! She and her readers are returning to them for a reason, and it's because she writes them well, particularly a small town that doesn't feel like it's full of white conservatives.

So alright, Silas is a bit more overprotective than he needs to be, and Maggie is almost obtusely independent, and the book is perhaps trying to accomplish one or two too many plotlines. It's a fun ride, though, and has Lucy's trademark steam (both sex and hot springs).

I didn't love the narrator for this book. I had trouble distinguishing between Maggie's speaking voice and the overall narration, and it really felt like she had just one voice for men. I wouldn't recommend the audio, but I do recommend the book.

This was a super cute story that I really enjoyed! I loved the characters so much! Even the dog was fantastic! I loved the banter between everyone. The romance was great as well. I also really enjoy the house renovation! All of it was just great!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I have been a big fan of Lucy Score for a while now and this was one of her best! No one does small town communities and steamy love interests like Lucy Score. And this book had it all! I highly recommend it!

4.5 Stars. So so good. And oh so close to perfect stars, but there were a few too many people to keep track of without reminders. And I loved the touch of historical puzzle added in but the explanation got a little muddled. Still, damn, this was a fantastic book.

Okay, real details! Maggie is a fantastic character. I loved how competent, creative, and self-assured she is. She’s a woman who has achieved success and the author doesn’t muddle it with any cliches of men trying to drag her down. She gets to shine… though she has some wanderlust and emotional damage to work through, ‘cause that’s what gives great character development and catharsis!

Silas isn’t afraid of love! Thank eff for a leading man that isn’t running for the hills. Don’t worry, these aren’t spoilers, this is proven right from the start. He’s still an alpha male with a cocksure attitude and charm that borders on harassment but the author makes it work. It’s fun and funny and sexy… and then you add in his dog, Kevin, and it’s practically perfect.

There’s amazing chemistry and a lot of fun secondary characters and situations to flesh out the book and keep it from being just another rom-com. This one’s special. Plus, there’s some full on smex that will satisfy you heat seakers, and great depth of storylines to back it up with serious substance. Best of both worlds.

And if you’re an audiobook lover, I definitely recommend it. The narrator hits all the right notes and I would happily listen to it again and again.

This was a perfect (steamy!) romcom for fans of house renovation/makeover shows. As a fan myself, I really enjoyed it.

The premise was unique and the chemistry between Maggie and Silas was on point. I love how Silas is the first to fall. (And the steamy scenes in this??...oh my god) Kevin the doggy was also a super fun addition and I love his little meddlings haha His interactions with Silas were the funniest!

I did feel, however, like some plot lines could have been condensed as I didn't find them essential to the story and they made it inecessarily longer. The ending was a bit rushed as well, especially those last paragraphs.

Other than that, this was a solid & fun read with a hot love interest, lots of steam, and a cute sidekick!

House flipper Maggie meets Landscaper Silas... Add an old Victorian Mansion to the mix and you get a lovable romance waiting to happen, oh and don't forget Maggie's YouTube page to fuel the drama.

Delightfully written and a warm listen with a good pace and a plot to keep you inspired. The characters are so warm and loveable that you just get drawn in from the start. Emma Wilder is a really good narrator and captures you from the start. The book cover just screams Read Me!

Fun filled, this one will capture your heart. I really loved Silas's character and the pooch Kevin was an added bonus!

Do you believe in signs and fate? I do, and so does Silas. He knows as soon as he sees Maggie that she was brought to him for a reason and he's going to marry that girl one day. Even if Maggie is set against marriage and settling down.
Maggie and her partner Dean have a home improvement show on YouTube with almost a million followers. She buys old houses and fixes them up and tells their story. This one will be her capstone, the one she works hardest on, the one that means the most. That is, if she can tackle it. It's her biggest renovation to date but she is determined to get it done and get out of town onto the next one. What she doesn't count on is the hot landscape guy, Silas, foiling all her plans.
Silas has always had his roots in Idaho, and he has a strong family bond, but as soon as he sees Maggie, he knows he would throw caution to the wind and follow her anywhere. When their fling starts to feel like more, will she run or will she finally stay and face all the things she has been running from.
Maggie has a lot of emotional baggage and she has been dumping that on her partner Dean for years, using him as a crutch. I was so happy with Maggie's sense of growth in this book, she had so many eye opening moments that I felt like her character really blossomed. I loved Silas from the start because any man that is as smitten as he was from the get go, just reels me right in. Home renovations make me a little anxiety ridden but I thought it was so fun that Maggie had a totally different take on how to tackle them than I ever would.
The narrator for this book was spot on and conveyed the emotion of the situations and humor so well.
Thank you to Lucy Score, Hachette Audio and Netgalley for an early audio copy.

This is such a cute read but not a fav. This definitely gave me HGTV vibes. I loved how Maggie was a fixer upper and of course, Kevin (a meddling dog). What I didnt like about this book was the instant love/attraction. Silas was just to much for me. Silas seem to fall head over heels and assumed that Maggie was the one. Personally, I felt that Silas just came off too cocky in parts of this book. This book seem longer than it needed to be but the narration of it was good. This book has found family, a meddling dog, a grumpy old man and even a little mystery. Which made up for the parts that I personally didnt care for.

Another sweet, heartwarming and a little steamy Lucy Score romance with a tiny bit of a hidden treasure element. I loved the found family themes and lord knows I love a chubby pit bull featuring as a character, it was a bit Hallmarky in how people reacted to things so calm and nicely, there was a lot of messiness and honestly it was worthy or a few shouting matches but overall a great comfort read

I've just started listening to the audio and I'm already loving this book, it is hilarious, recommend listening/reading when you can laugh out loud. I can't wait to see what happens further in the book.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced listening copy! This is my first book from the author Lucy Score, and I thought it was a great blend of romance, cuteness, and comedy. Maggie hosts a famous YouTube show about house renovations when she comes to the small town of Kinship, Idaho to revamp a famous author’s mansion. Silas is the hired landscaper for the project, and he falls quickly for Maggie, who is constantly on the move from job to job, place to place. Can Silas and a cast of small town characters convince Maggie to stay? This book was charming and worked for me in many ways. I liked the small town vibes, side characters, back stories, mysteries about the house they were renovating, and especially, the dog Kevin. My only complaint about this book is that I wanted more of Kevin’s hijinks. There was a lot going on in this book, but Score made it work by moving the story along at a really nice pace, and balancing the drama and trauma from the past with the sweet romantic comedy. The narrator had great pacing and really did justice to all the character voices. I will definitely be looking for their name on audiobooks in the future! I recommend this book for fans of contemporary romance, renovations in the story, small town, and cute dogs.
