A Fight-worthy fantastic five-star read. I adore this author, and this is just another example of what a great writer the are. There was something about Wyatt, he really made me wonder and what made him tick. The more you read, the more you understand him, the more you realise just how much he needs to take a stand, no matter who that may hurt. Hazel was such a strong character, she powers through, and I feel like she lent that strength and power to Wyatt, as he made the stand. This was a great story and one I loved every step of the way. Come get lost in Cold Springs, as you won’t be disappointed, just roped into the fight.

If I had stopped halfway, this book would've gotten 3\5 stars. The book and every single character got better as I read to the point that I finished the last half in one sitting. Overall, impression is that its an easy read with a little steam, a lot of curse words, and some adequate character development. would recommend, but it's not my favorite.

The Wrong Bridesmaid. Just be warned, if four letter words offend, pass on this book! Wyatt Ford returns to his small town for the first time in several years to attend his brother’s wedding where he finds the family in major disarray. Something is going on with his uncle’s latest construction project, his estranged father is drinking and the first woman to catch his interest in years loathes his family for her own family reasons. It just happens that Hazel is the bride’s best friend. Lauren Landish has written a clever story about family disfunction that keeps the reader interested in learning the cause. Four letter words usually don’t offend, but the amount of them in the first few pages of the book really had me wondering if I even wanted to finish reading. Fortunately the amount was significantly reduced the farther I got into the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Highly recommend.

I adore Lauren’s romcom writing! This has everything I needed while following the story of a small town in a little bit of a hostile takeover.

Hazel and Wyatt learn to find love while trying to save the town, find their own personal ways through life and fixing the riff between their families.

This book has very love angst between the couple which is perfect considering all the moving pieces around them.

I liked the idea and I;m usually a fan of small town romances but I didn't gel well with the female lead. She felt kind of arrogant and unlikeable?

Years ago, Wyatt ran away from his hometown and his family’s expectations. Now he’s back for his brother’s wedding. But the townsfolk aren’t doing very well and he suspects his uncle’s shady business dealings might have a hand in it. Sharing an attraction with the woman who’s supposed to hate him and not really doing his best to fight it, will he be able to clear his head enough to put a stop to his uncle’s machinations ?

A sweet and low-angst small town romance with some of the best food names I’ve ever read about. Seriously I want to try every food item I’ve read about in this book, but especially the buttery nipple cupcake and the pussy burger. Hazel is our kick-ass heroine, hardworking, loyal and the best pool player in town. Wyatt is a mature, down-to-earth hero who’s so lovable and chill that from the moment I was in his head (which was the first chapter), I liked him and kept liking him. I was also very protective of him, the way I get sometimes with romance heroes but that’s ok, Hazel was good to him.

The Wrong Bridesmaid has everything I like : small town antics and quirky characters, prejudiced hero/ine, the cook-together scene, family drama, kinda sad hero (mmmhh)... And it was a fun and engaging read with a decent amount of spice. I would recommend this to any contemporary romance reader.

But there’s a fly in the ointment, a scene at the beginning of the book that really irked me. Wyatt is being measured for a suit and a group of women barge in and everyone has a comment about his ‘package’ and there’s touching and leering and more than one person told Wyatt to basically suck it up because they’re grown-ups bla bla bla (even though they’re the ones who keep making comments?). The heroine was amongst them at first but then left so I’ll give her points for that. The writing style only made it worse though :

“I shake off the shivers that run down my spine at Cara’s declaration, feeling dirty and grossed out by a woman old enough to be my mother making that kind of comment.”

So, there you go. You decide.

I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and I thank the author and the publishing team for it.

A romp through small town politics with the mayor and his brother pushing through a new development against the town wishes. Wyatt is the mayors son, and whilst he’s been away for years, when he comes back things heat up on the redevelopment as well as with sassy bartender Hazel. There is heat there, and even Hazel’s parrot notices it, but being on two sides of the town plans is hard,

A roller coaster story of all the things you hope won't go wrong at a wedding.

Perfect setting, an easy read, light rom-com

I loved this book so much!
What could go wrong at a wedding? Everything! From dressing the bridesmaids to the actual wedding itself.
These characters are hilarious and made my day with their antics and banter. The romance story is so good and swooning at times. I have a smile on my face at all times.
I haven’t read many of the author’s books but this one sets the bar high for new stories.

This is a classic enemies to lovers trope… with a little bit (lot of bit) of family drama mixed in. Wyatt Ford is the black sheep of the family, who left town and disappeared all together and only returning for his younger brother’s wedding. Hazel grew up despising the Ford name after hearing tales from her Aunt Etta who was left by her ex fiancé, who also happens to be Wyatt’s uncle. For all intents and purposes, they shouldn’t work. Hazel and Wyatt have this magnetic pull that they can only ignore for so long. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially Hazel’s rough and tumble, take no shit attitude. This book has love, hate, family drama, and just the right amount of spice.

Softly dnf’d for now. Will come back to it in the future and try this author again. The writing style seemed easy enough to follow, but being a mood reader made it harder to crack on and finish.

The plot was okay and the writing was pretty solid but it didn't have anything that stood out to me. Not gonna lie, it took me a while to get interested in the story because the first three chapters failed to catch my attention. Wyatt & Hazel meet at a wedding where the groom is Wyatt's brother and the bride was Hazel's best friend. I didn't like the insta love between Hazel & Wyatt and because of that I felt disconnected with both of them. I loved the flirting part though and Grandpa Joe was my favourite! Other than that, this was a pretty simple story with a wedding as a backdrop, some small town politics and with some flirting. Unfortunately, I don't think I was in the right mood while reading this, so I think I might want to give it 2.25 stars.

Thank you Netgalley & Montlake for providing me the ARC

“The Wrong Bridesmaid” by Lauren Landish was, unfortunately, the wrong book for me to read by this author. I didn’t like the instalove between the two characters. While I’m okay with “sexy time,” at times it read a bit crudely. Additionally, there is a lot of cussing in this book - and I mean a lot that didn’t actually add to the story. I didn’t mind the small-town politics, but the main “bad guy” seemed so one-dimensional that it really read false for me. As I said, this wasn’t the correct choice of books for me to read.

However, all books have good points - and I liked the bakery scenes, along with the historical nod toward the end of the book. And Grandpa Joe, with all his sass and commentary - we all need a Grandpa Joe in our lives. If you want to read romantic steam, with some flirting at a pool table and in a bakery - and about a controlling wedding coordinator with a (for once!) sweet bride - this book may be up your alley.

Ah! I really want to love this, but it just wasn't for me. I struggled to connect with either main character and found that they were both lacking depth. I also wasn't a fan of the small town politics subplot, I felt it took away from the romance and character development. Some moments were rather cringy and others had me speed reading through, this didn't do it for me unfortunately!

Wyatt and Hazel are on opposite sides. She is trying to fight the developments plans of his family's company. He just really wants a chance with her but she is totally against his family. Sparks fly...

A fun, flirty rom-com. I really enjoy their banter... Love both of the main characters. A fast fun book... Really enjoyed it.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
