First off, two things: firstly I have not read any of the other books in this series. Secondly: I did not finish this book. It is advertised as horror, paranormal, whatever. For me, this was a comedy. I'm not sure it is supposed to be funny though. However, it's kind of hilarious. The characters are funny because they're like billboard cutouts of certain things. This one is a cop, this one is a biker, this one is a teenager. They are EXACTLY as you would expect someone like that to be. The plot is sort of serious because people are dying, but it's still funny. Everyone's reactions to the deaths are funny, but not because they react funnily, because they take it so seriously. Maybe what makes this book so funny is not any intentional work but merely the way it is written. The characters don't seem to have particularly strong emotion and there is a lot of telling instead of showing.

I know nothing about this author, but I kind of hope they aren't from Appalachia because it's such a flat (funny) portrayal of the region and people who live there. Despite the fact that I found this book highly amusing, I also found it highly boring, so I couldn't get past chapter 10. There was nothing to engage me in either the characters or the plot. I've already forgotten what was happening. I was expecting some sort of Stephen King, cryptid stories that played on a human fear of things hiding in mountains, but I just got a Saturday Night Live skit. Sorry, I'm really not sure what the point of this book was supposed to be.

The bottled gods by M.J. Fitzmaurice.
shasha's team book 3.
Strangeness erupts in rural Tennessee when random people turn into avenging god-like killers, spouting bible verses about vengeance as they spill blood.
A slow starter but then it started to get really good. I liked Shasha. This is a good series. 4*.
