Rosie and Lucas were minor characters in Elena Armas' first book but they finally got their own book here! :) Rosie quits her job to become a romance writer but her apartment crumbles and she is forced to stay in her best friend LIna's apartment. Lucas just happens to be there. There is instant attraction.... But Lucas has to return to Spain after 6 weeks....

A terrific follow up to the first book! I love Lucas and Rosie. Perfectly lovable characters. Lucas is perfect and Rosie is adorable. Totally love it. It is also terrific to hear more about Lina and Aaron. :) A sweet romance that is just as swoothy as the first book.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

The American Roommate Experiment was a delightful sequel to The Spanish Love Deception. I feel so honored to have the opportunity to read and review it before its release!

Rosie is an intelligent and successful engineer who decides to take the leap and pursue writing after catching a big break under a nomme du plume. Lucas is a hunky surfer with a mysterious incident who has been traveling for the last several months when he crosses paths with Rosie. With strong ties to TSLD's Lina, they both find themselves needing to occupy Lina's flat while she's on her honeymoon. Over time and communication, they sort out a plan for both co-habiting and supporting Rosie's writing deadline hindered by writer's block. Insert the titled experiment.

Love-able Lina and Aaron play the perfect amount of supportive roles while really allowing Rosie and Lucas's story to have their moment.

~Dual POV which I *loved.*
~Male lead who is emotionally available and just an all around sweetheart with complex feelings he is navigating
~Relatable female lead: there were some parallels between her life and mine and I found it really comforting to see her story on the page and found it a welcome opportunity to feel seen
~ I love that they each navigate their own personal growth while also growing to lean on one another
~Would have liked to see more Spanish on the page during Lucas's POV.
~It took me a while to switch gears and get into this storyline, but I did really enjoy it
~Lucas's background was a bit evasive at first, but I believe that was by design with a payoff at the end
~Slow, slow burn
~Can certainly serve as a standalone, but it is much more rewarding if you read The Spanish Love Deception
~Will definitely be recommending to friends who loved TSLD and other heartwarming romances!

A big thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada, and Atria Books for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
