Not what I expected, but a great thriller nonetheless. The first half seems very long with little tension, but it picks up pace in the last half and also maybe need a little more time to unravel it all. Some neat twists at the end. Beautiful sense of place. Would make a good summer read.

I can’t say too much about this one but from the shocking prologue I was gripped and just devoured this book.

Emily and Dani (Danielle) are two women from different socio-economic backgrounds whose lives collide a way neither of them would have thought. Emily works as medical receptionist and her husband, Aidan, is a salesman of prestigious cars. They have a young son, Josh, and live in a modest but nice rental in a good area. Dani doesn’t work. Her husband Marcus owns the prestige car business and is Aidan’s boss. They are very wealthy.

Aidan starts to behave strangely. He is always on his laptop and has kind of zoned out of family life. It all comes to a head one day when he finally admits to Emily what has been going on. They need to move, disappear, change their names.

Marcus has also been acting strangely. He has been inviting a rowdy bunch of strangers to their home. Buttoned up Dani does not like this one little bit. Marcus says he is training up some new guys for the business but Dani is not convinced.

All these lives intersect in a shocking way one night. I’m not going to give away any more than that. But if you like a psychological thriller this may very well be the book for you. I couldn’t put it down. The pacing was excellent and there was a sense of growing dread throughout. The characters were well drawn, I could really relate to Emily, her tension was palpable. Dani was not very likeable at the start but she grew on me after a while and turned out to be a good sort after all. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.

Emily dreams of one day owning a house where her son Josh and a baby on the way can grow up but when her husband Aidan insists on leaving his lucrative job as a luxury car salesman Emily senses something more is afoot even while Emily harbours a secret of her own and what is Aidan hiding

I have read many books from this author but this one tops them all. It was very suspenseful! 2 womens stories and no idea where the story is going to go, especially with the odd single page chapter from a mysterious character! Exactly what I like in a book, it held my attention due to the fact that nothing was given away. I couldn't put the book down and when I did, I found myself thinking about it! Very captivating in my opinion and when it all clicked together is was a perfect story.

Shalini Boland is on my short list of go-to authors who I always read the second a new release comes out! A Perfect Stranger is a classic domestic thriller with everyone keeping secrets. Some I guessed and some were a shock. Shalini did a great job fleshing out the characters and keeping me turning the pages! A Perfect Stranger is the perfect summer read!

Another exciting psychological thriller by the very consistent author Shalini Boland. Her novels are always fast paced page turners that keep you reading to the very end. This was a very enjoyable read and full of suspense, thrills and twists.

Written from the POV’s of Emily and Dani as we follow their marriages to Aidan and Marcus respectively. Emily and Aiden are burdened by a secret that threatens to completely shatter their family. Marcus works in the car trade and is Aidan’s boss but his something is not quite right in his life at the moment as he has started to mix with some very suspicious characters. His wife Dani longs to get pregnant but Marcus’s lifestyle is beginning to worry her and is putting a strain on their relationship.

I always devour Shalini Boland novels quickly as I find them exciting, well written and full of thrills and twists. Often they push the boundaries of belief to the limits but I am willing to live with that as they make excellent reading.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I am a real fan of Shalini Boland and really look forward to reviewing her latest work , this one just fell a bit short for me , I did feel it wasn't up to her usual standard , it had all the elements you come to expect but I didn't enjoy it as much as usual .
We have the POV of 2 women Dani , who is the glamorous wife of well to do Marcus and Emily who is married to Aiden one of Marcus' employees , both marriages have secrets and soon Aiden confesses to Emily how much trouble he has got himself into , and they must leave for the safety of the family
It is fast paced and very entertaining , just not my favourite

A Perfect Stranger by Shalini Boland was quite a ride. The story had a great ending; a new revelation rocks you just when you thought it was over. I wasn't expecting Emily's secret. I did have some of it figured already during the middle of the book, and I kind of knew where the story was heading, but it didn't take away from the drama of the story, and the author's writing style kept me reading. A Perfect Stranger is a psychological thriller that will make you question how well you know those around you.

A good read, and I would recommend this book and this author.

Shalini Boland… the queen of making you think all plot twists have been revealed and then flipping your world upside down with the last page!! This book was suspenseful, heart throbbing, fast paced and amazing. Loved the characters, loved every second of it. As always for SB, 5 stars!!

I only got this today and I then put off every single thing I should have been doing because I just couldn't get through this fast enough. This is absolutely everything that all domestic noirs aspire to be. I love how well written and realistic the characters are and the pace of the narration never feels slow or too fast. The writing style keeps you engaged and bit by bit all the twists and turns slowly unrave into the masterpiece domestic noir. Its told from multiple character povs but in a way that keeps it fresh and keeps the plot constantly dragging you forwards. It meter gets confusing or blurry. I just absolutely loved every second I spent in this. A very cleverly written, intelligent thriller with so many layers and such well crafted, related able characters

All hail Queen Shalini!! Just when I think she can’t do better, BANG- here comes another absolutely thrilling masterpiece.

This is a book that has given me chills. My heart has pounded and I’ve been completely addicted and caught up in the story. The characters are a mix of likeable and questionable and I’ve been completely unable to predict where this was going to go.

The marriages we see in this book definitely have their flaws. The husbands lead us to jaw dropping moments which are shocking. I have literally been speechless. This plot pulled the carpet from under me completely. I absolutely need more.

As always, this is a book which is flawlessly written. Shalini makes us feel as though we know the characters and are watching the events play out.

I’ve read all of Shalini’s books and this is definitely on the favourites list! There is nothing negative I can say about this one. It has been a gem to read and one I will definitely be recommending.

A Perfect Stranger is written from two perspectives - Emily and Dani.

Annie comes home from a shopping trip with her son, George.to find a shocking discovery. Her husband David is dead.! Who could have committed such a gruesome crime?

Emily is living with her husband, Aidan, a luxury car dealer. They have one son and another child on the way.. Both Emily and Aidan are hiding a secret that could destroy their family.

Dani is the wife of Marcus, Aidan's boss, and desperately wants to get pregnant. But who are Marcus's new shady friends? How will they jeopardize Dan's dream?

The worlds of these two families will collide in shocking and unexpected ways!

This book was a quick and easy read. It was very engaging to read and the suspense built throughout.

It just seemed to end suddenly and I wished it was a little longer.

Three stars and I would read more books by this author, Shalini Boland!

A Perfect Stranger by Shalini Boland is one of many books I have read by this author, and it has no disappointed. At every page there are a range of unexpected twists that keep the reader hooked as they go along. The character of Emily is deeply complex but the reader is still free to come to their own conclusions about their feelings towards her. This book is a must read
