I really liked this preview. I thought the relationship between Rose and Lissa is really interesting and am intrigued by what could happen in the future regarding this strong friendship. It's always nice seeing a different take on the supernatural, specifically something as classic as vampires.

I never watched Vampire Academy growing up because I just did not feel like it. But this sneak peek has been a glorious introduction to a world I now want to enter.

This era of vampire literature was simply unmatched. Richelle Mead created such a captivating and entertaining story and world that kept me always wanting more. The first installment of Vampire Academy is just an enjoyable today as it was for me 15 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long but this will always be one of my favorite series. I recommend the Vampire Academy books to everyone looking for a good vampire book.

Three words: I loved it. The promise of something different and something beautiful.
Of course, it's a vampire themed novel but it is not a if you've read one ,you've read them all sort of scenario. The best bit are bad ass females in this story. From Rose to Lisa to even the headmistress of the school. It's girl power the whole way.
So , don't miss out on a truly excitement filled , toe curling romance adventure vampire mystery story. And many many more stories to come xoxoxo

This is just a sneak peek of book 1!

This book is such a quintessential YA fantasy boarding school novel! It is a great intro to this vampire world. So far, it feels like these vampires are unique to other, more common, systems. Some things are unique and original to this series. The characters feel fresh and original. Each one is fully developed and stands well on their own. I love this story world and am excited for everywhere it will go!

This was a great sneak peak for Vampire Academy. It is not the full book but gives a nice intro to this fantastic book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book of the saga, it takes us to the world of vampires together with the protagonist Rose Hathaway and her friend Lissa Dragomir, after they escaped from the San Vladimir Academy, they return to this Academy and find it different, Rose has to face to the consequences of escaping with Lissa and making up for lost time to train as a guardian, everything gets complicated when they put Dimitri Belikov as their tutor, a very handsome dhampir who attracts her, since dhampirs cannot fall in love, her only responsibility and duty is to learn to protect the Morois from all threats.
In my humble opinion, it is one of the sagas and books that I have liked the most, that is why I highly recommend it, I love Rose's craziness, Lissa's friendship and her, Dimitri's relationship with Rose, I really love Dimitri very much Although most of the time he is serious, he is attractive in his own way, he does not need to attract attention, you feel his presence, and that is what I love about him, Rose on the other hand, I admire his courage, his impulses that thanks to them he gets into trouble, in short I like his personality, and for Christian you have so much fun with him to no more power. Adventures, dangers, romance, fights and much more.

Vampire Academy is my favorite book series, so how could I NOT take this chance to talk about how much I love it?

While on the outside this may seem like yet another cliché vampire romance story, it’s not.

It’s a story of friendship. Of hardship. Of growing up. Of growth. Of mental health challenges.

Vampire Academy is one of the greatest series of our time, and I hope if you’re on the verge of reading it, take this as a sign to DO IT!

My latest review of the book is as follows;

CW/TW: Depression, self-harm (cutting), adult-minor relationship, discussion of prostitution, slut-shaming

I’m onto my 5th read of this book and I swear, every time I notice new things (and new foreshadowing).
The first time I read this book, I was 15. I didn’t notice a lot of stuff aside from the interesting plot that kept me hooked. Now, I see its issues. I realize portions of it are problematic. The main romance does make me kind of uncomfortable at this point in the series, even though they’re my #1 ship.

However... none of that stops Vampire Academy from being an incredible book. And a lot of the stuff that is problematic in this book? It’s addressed later on in the series. Rose changes a LOT throughout the series, most definitely for the better. Last Sacrifice Rose would never say or do some of the stuff Vampire Academy Rose says and does. And honestly? I think that’s beautiful.

So while there are definitely problems, they are definitely addressed later on in the series. Rose learns how what she learned growing up isn’t really true and adjusts her actions and the way she thinks accordingly.

Anyway! All of this is just to say that Vampire Academy is still a stellar book that has great depression representation. Even on my 5th read of it, it manages to keep me as enthralled as the first time around.

A fun ya vampire story. This book follows a vampire princess and her friend/protector as they navigate life and eek high school. There is love, friendship and political intrigue. But still manages to keep the story light and easy to read.
I am excited to continue this series and rumor is there is talk of a TV adaptation from peacock.
I recommend this series to anyone who loves vampires or is looking for a fun easy ya read.

The sneak peak was to short and followed the movie almost exactly. Do I think it was good? Yes! I loved the movie and love the book. Cannot wait until the entire book is out to read.

Thank you to Penguin and Netgalley for this amazing excerpt! I love Richelle Mead! I have very few auto-buy authors, and Mead happens to be one of the select few. The characters and the world building in her books are amazing. Vampire Academy has my heart and Bloodlines has my soul. If there is one fantasy book you read this year, read Vampire Academy! Did I mention this YA novel has a forbidden romance, age gap, slow burn, vampires, magic and a but kicking heroine? Go read this series now!

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for giving me this sample to read and review.

This wasn't a bad sample. It was quick to read, the world building had me intrigued and so did some of the characters. I think I could easily read the first book and enjoy it.

I was provided with a free sample of Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

First, I was so excited to start this series. I know Julie Plec, co-creator of The Vampire Diaries, has turned it into a soon to be released tv series on Peacock. I love all things vampires- my obsession began in the 90’s with Buffy; so this book is right up my alley.

I’ll begin with a brief, spoiler free synopsis. Vampire Academy is the story of Rose, a Dhampir, who serves as the bodyguard for her best friend Lissa. Lissa, is a Moroi, and vampire royalty. They were enrolled at St. Vladimir’s Academy, a boarding school where vampires are educated about their abilities, and half humans are trained to protect their vampire charges. But a threat from inside has forced Rose and Lissa to live on the run, before they are reluctantly taken back to the place they escaped.

From Chapter 1, Richelle Mead thrusts the reader right into the action of the story. The reader understands that this is a different world from ours, and can feel the stress and tension Rose and Lissa are under, trying to stay safe while on the run. We also can immediately deduce the close bond between Rose and Lissa. The early fight scene, shows how protective Rose is of her charge and best friend.

The world building is descriptive. We learn quickly the difference between Dhampir’s and Moroi, and the more deadly Strigoi. We also get a good description of what St. Vladimir’s is, why it exists, and how it runs. The groundwork is there to reveal more about these creatures, their history and abilities as the series goes on.

And of course, we get a hint of a possible forbidden romance between Rose and the slightly older guardian, Dimitri. Rose, immediately comments on his attractiveness, but they also have some tense exchanges and Dimitri seems to find Rose reckless, while also begrudgingly admiring her. The potential for a romance between the two is definitely there, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

All in all, this sample was an excellent start to the series, and I’m intrigued. I’ll be picking up the other books to continue with Rose and Lissa’s story.

I’m surprised I had not yet read this book, considering I was in the target age range when it was originally released. I enjoyed the preview of the first couple of chapters and will probably continue reading it in the future, although the language overall strikes me as a little young, even compared to some of the YA I have read recently.

Thank you to NetGalley for a ARC preview in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley for this sneak peak of first installment in the popular YA series Vampire Academy! Perfect for readers interested in fantasy, legends, as well as teen romance/friendship novels, Vampire Academy follows the life of Rose Hathaway, a half-vampire/half-human student at St. Vladimir's Academy who is training to become a protector of the Moroi (good vampires) and a killer of the Strigoi (bad vampires). Rose has a close bond (more than just friendship) with her companion and charge Lissa, a Moroi princess who is the last of her line. Together, Rose and Lissa have run away from the Academy and tried to survive, but now they are caught and brought back to the Academy, where unimaginable danger awaits them. Lovers of teen dark fantasy will be engrossed by this novel, and will hopefully want to continue reading the next books in the series (there are six in total) to find out what happens to Rose on her incredible journey.
