Complex and captivating, this is a riveting and emotional romantic suspense. Annie gets caught up in both a professional case and personal drama in this fast-paced page turner! As her relationship with Jon moves forward, it seems there’s always something complicating the situation. With good friends, family, and a lovable dog, this is at times a heart-stopping, but is also a touching story. Excellent! I’m loving this series and look forward to more.

Dark of Night is the second book in Colleen Coble's newest series. I loved the first book in the series and was excited to get the chance to read this one.

The past few months have been intense for Annie, but it's about to get even crazier. Not only was her life threatened, but her long-lost first love returned. And now? A new addition to the small town of Rock Harbor is claiming to be Annie's missing sister who was kidnapped more than twenty years before. Oh, and her late husband just might not be her daughter's father after all. To add to all the chaos, a hiker has gone missing, and Annie and her coworkers will have to work hard to find her, and untangle the web that weaves all the recent events together.

I really enjoyed this novel! Annie and Jon make a fantastic couple, and I enjoyed seeing them work out their difficulties and come closer together. Kylie was also a favourite character. She overcame challenges well and made the story even more enjoyable. I struggled with Taylor/Sarah but was happy to see her grow and change throughout the book.

Side note: I'm still thoroughly confused on why Annie's sister was Laura throughout the first book but suddenly becomes Sarah in Dark of Night. As I've only read digital ARCs of these books and haven't seen it addressed in any other reviews, I'm guessing it may have been switched before publication. Regardless, it definitely threw me for a loop when I started reading.

All in all, Dark of Night was a fantastic novel. I highly recommend it to any romantic suspense fans, but definitely read the first book, Edge of Dusk, first to get all the backstory and avoid confusion.

While I enjoyed the first book in the series better, this one is also a must read. The characters are great, completely relatable. The plot has a lot going on but easy to follow. Story has mystery, suspense and even a sprinkle of romance. Enjoyed the ending!

"Dark of Night" by Colleen Coble is the 2nd book in the Annie Pedersen series. I really enoyed catching back up with Annie and John. Even though this book had several mysteries going on, it was still easy to keep up with the action. The character development was great, which is typical of Colleen Coble. There was mystery, suspense and a little romance thrown in. I highly recommend this book. Colleen Coble is one of my favorite authors, and she didn't disappoint this time!

Dark of Night once again focuses on Law Enforcement Ranger Annie Pederson, her daughter Kylie and the rest of the cast of characters in Rock Harbor. While Annie is continuing to wait to find out if her kidnapped sister Sarah is alive, she is also on the hunt for a woman missing.

Can Annie find the missing woman, while navigating family angst and drama? Will the woman be alive when she's found? You'll have to read to find out!

I highly recommend reading book 1 - Edge of Dusk first - otherwise you might be lost!

Annie is faced with what is real in her life, a sister missing for years, now here, and blames her for it.
An old love returns, and will her daughter fit in.
Her daughter has been taken, a hiker leaving a shelter, hiding from abusive husband out in the woods.
The distraction of these is what she needs, and main focus on her daughter.
Many things going on in this story, connected with giving forgiveness, was well done.

Dark of Night picks up where the first book in the series ended--right in the middle of a dramatic reveal that Annie may have found her long-lost sister. While dealing with all her personal issues, the characters also try to solve a missing woman case. I read the first book in this series almost 7 months ago, so not too much time has elapsed since then, but I thought this book was a weaker installment than the first one and didn't really connect with the characters. How many times can one woman whine about having to break news to her daughter before she becomes unlikable? I liked the missing woman subplot and pretty much wished the main characters weren't around.

At the same time Annie to trying figure if her sister is truly back in her world, she has a police case where she is trying to locate a missing woman. You will not believe the trouble this woman is actually in!

As in a typical Colleen Cobble story, this tale is full of action and a lot of unknowns. You will not be able to put this book down!

Dark of Night is book two in Colleen Coble's Annie Pederson series. Book two begins moments after book one ends. Readers navigate through the pages of this suspense novel seeking to determine is the woman claiming to be Sarah truly Annie's lost sister? Will Kylie, Annie's 8 year old daughter discover the secrets her mother is holding so close? What happened to Michelle Fraser, journalist and escaped domestic abuse victim, who Annie is trying to recover?
I like Colleen Coble's writings. She always has multiple paths for us to follow before coming to the conclusion of her suspense. She peppers in a little bit of romance in the mix while reminding readers of past stories they've engaged.
I'm not sure I would want to be a hiker lost in the U.P. I know I'm influenced by actions shows I've watched and other SAR books I've read. Coble allows these characters to take their time in finding those who are missing. I often wonder whether those looking for a missing hiker would really be able to stop and enjoy an snack with their family or a business dinner out with their significant other without being plagued by the dangers the missing is facing while they wait for rescue. As a fiction novel this is an aspect of this author's writing that I find myself having to take a deep breath and settle back in to the story and just allow things to come.

This is the second book about forest ranger, Annie Pederson.

Life is hard for Annie. Her life has been threatened and now Jon, her first love is back in the,picture. Top that with Sarah turning up out of the blue claiming to be her long lost sister, Annie has to figure out whether or not to believe this woman who claims the sister who was abducted twenty-four years ago at age five. Annie’s eight-year-old daughter, Kylie, is plenty confused about what’s going on in her mother’s life. There are some aspects of her life Annie doesn’t want uncovered.

Annie now struggles with this would-be sister and finding room in her and daughter’s life for Jon. Professionally, she is on the case of yet another missing hiker in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her name is Michelle Fraser and it seems the woman has been abducted. Michelle’s estranged and abusive husband is at the top of the suspect list. Annie must dig deep to understand if these cases are truly as unrelated as they seem.

This is a good romantic novel of suspense and Coble’s writing makes me want to visit the upper peninsula of Michigan

I love Colleen Coble’s Rock Harbor series and was very happy to learn she was setting another series there. These last two books have been great. The plots were well thought out, characters were so good, and Coble has layered in many different suspense aspects to the story. I do hope she plans more here. Very good!

I have been a Colleen Coble fan for a while now. I have read both books in these series and am looking forward to the next one.
This book is set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (my home state). This book has it all--mystery, romance, family drama. A great read that I read quickly. It doesn't disappoint!

"Dark of Night" is a romantic suspense novel. It's the second book in a series and a direct continuation of the previous novel, so it's best to read them in order. There were a number of threads to the story: how to get Kylie to warm up to Jon, especially as they need to tell her something that'll be hard for her to accept. How to deal with the bitter woman who claims to be Annie's sister, especially as she blames Annie for not stopping the abduction when they were both young kids. Finally, a woman has gone missing in the woods and several injured women turn up in the woods along the way as they search for her.

Annie investigated who might have motive to harm the missing woman and where she might be now. Annie asked good questions, and Jon did a better job of helping her on occasion (rather than not passing on some potentially useful information like in the previous novel). As Jon and Annie spent time together, they learned to deal with conflict in a better way than in the past. Jon did his best to show love and understanding toward Kylie so she didn't feel so threaten by his love for her mother. They confirmed if the woman is Annie's sister and struggled with how to show her love when they don't really trust her.

The suspense came from the danger to them and others, and we got the missing woman's point of view as she's injured but struggling to get free. The Christian message was trusting God when you get bad news. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.

I won't be giving feedback at this time, as I did not realize that this was #2 of a series. I have not read the first story yet. But I can say that, based on the others I have read by Ms. Coble, I"m sure this one is just as good.

DARK OF NIGHT comes after Edge of Dusk and is the second novel in the Annie Pederson series by Colleen Coble. It is anexciting and enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the third book in the series.
When Taylor Moore announces that she is really Annie’s long lost sister, Sarah, Annie cannot believe that this trouble causing and downright nasty woman is telling the truth. Annie has felt guilty ever since her baby sister was snatched away from her twenty four years ago.
There are other secrets and there is great deal of suspense with women disappearing and Annie, together with Sheriff Kaleva, having their work cut out trying to solve the cases and find the:missing persons.
Annie and Jon are worried about their daughter Kylie finding out their secret before they get around to telling her themselves…..
I like the way law enforcement uses Bree and her tracker dog Samson to find those that are missing. I also like the Christian message on forgiveness and on trusting God who is always with us.
I recommend Dark of Night to anyone who enjoys a good romantic thriller.

This is the second in the Annie Pederson series and it's just as interesting as the first. I am loving this series and these characters!

This book picks up the threads from the first in the series, and introduces a new mystery to solve. So much going on, but it's cleverly crafted and easy to follow along. Has Annie's sister returned, there is a paternity question about her daughter, and a new case to take on. Familiar characters from the Rock Harbor area are mentioned, and the landscape descriptions of the UP are beautifully written.

The only thing about this ARC I didn't enjoy was the large Thomas Nelson watermark on each and every page - makes it very distracting trying to read.
