Something Old Something New by Amy Clipston
I read this in less than two days. I could not, would not put this book down. I immediately related to Christine Sawyer. The trials she faces, the decisions she needs to make … knowing when to follow your heart is difficult in the best circumstances, but for Christine, she leans into it. Reading about Christine and Brent is like watching your best friends finally figure out life, and you instantly root for them. Amy Clipston is a fantastic writer, but this is my favorite book of hers (to date).
I cannot wait to pre-order this and have it sit on my shelf (where it belongs).
You should read this!!

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Thomas Nelson-- Fiction and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Well drawn characters who are relatable, kind, sweet. The story itself has slow moments but overall reads well.

Based on the synopsis, I really wanted to love this book. But I just could not get into it at all and ended up DNF'ing it at about 20%. The formatting was weird and the writing felt very stilted, and I just couldn't get past that to continue reading it.

Flowering Grove, NC Christine has her own antique store, to restore them.and sell for another home, had been a dream..A lonely life, busy being an aunt, now she notice Brent was back in town, but will he be staying.
Brent and failure, losing his dreams a career in football, even having his own business, the girl he wanted, was all lost. A heartwarming story of life, family and life in a small town.
Two people who knew one another before, a love and life, with new beginning is in this great plot. Readers will love and enjoy reading about Brent and Christine.
Given ARC by Net Galley and Thomas Nelson for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Amy Clipston’s characters are sweet and relatable and almost right from the very beginning, I’m emerged in what is happening in their lives.

Christine and Britney are fraternal twins, although Christine refers to herself as the “nerdy” twin. In high school Britney was a cheerleader, had a group of popular friends, her boyfriend was the captain of the football team, and together they were the homecoming king and queen. Britney is happily married now with 4-year-old twin girls of her own.

Christine, single, with no boyfriend has had her own business for 4 years, the Treasure Hunting Antique Mall. It’s her dream job and in her hometown of Flowering Grove, North Carolina. While helping a customer lift up a heavy bookcase she just bought from the Antique Mall into a truck, suddenly a young man runs up and grabs it and puts it in the truck just as it looks like they are going to drop it. What a surprise to see its Brent Nicholson, the former star quarterback and captain of their high school football team and the former boyfriend of Christine’s sister Britney. Brent hadn’t been seen around town in years, however, he explained he was back to help his great-aunt with some home repairs.

Brent had hoped not to run into Britney while he was in town Their relationship didn’t end well and now already, he’s seen her sister. He continues to encounter Christine several more times in unexpected places. Brent and Christine strike up a friendship which angers Bethany. She believes the worst of Brent and advises her sister to stay away from him. Christine considers him a friend as well as an honest, honorable man here to help out his elderly great-aunt.

There are many family issues rising from Brent’s presence in town, both in his own family and that of Bethany and Christine’s family. As the friendship grows between Brent and Christine, the relationship with her sister is suffering. Hidden truths are revealed that impacted lives for years, forgiveness and reconciliations occur, and friendships are restored. This is a beautifully written, heartwarming, delightful story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. The opinions and comments are my own.
