Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for an eARC of Ship Wrecked in exchange for an honest review.
⭐⭐
I loved the first two novels in this trilogy, and hold Spoiler Alert near and dear to my heart. Marcus, April, and their love made me feel that even as a fat person, I was still deserving of love. I loved that the two previous books had me captivated and invested in characters I could see myself in.
This book did not create that same feeling.
The pacing was really off, and the use of a time skip took away from the part of the story that I was excited about. The tension on the island was something to potentially invest in as a reader. The skip instead shoved the characters along to fit the larger plot, but that plot wasn’t nearly as engaging. The stakes were low once the show was over, and the characters felt like they didn’t know each other when they’d really spent the better half of a decade on a remote island together. The final conflict of the story felt really forced. Especially considering Maria’s reaction to Peter’s choice, when she herself is an actress in the same position he is. And as fun as the jar of herring was the first time, the joke became really old, really fast.
What was more upsetting, however, was the use of Real People Fiction. This series has relied heavily on fanfiction, and that’s always been a buy-in for me. However, book three took it in a direction that I find unacceptable. I think it’s inappropriate, to the point of being harmful, to condone the creation of explicit fanfiction in which the two main characters of the fic are real people. This story goes so far as to glorify it when the two “real people” in question (even though they’re characters in a novel, they’re real in the context of the creation of the fanfiction) then use that explicit fic to spice up their sex life. I always turn the idea of RPF back on the writer: How would you feel if people you’d never met before wrote graphic depictions of you and your best friend having sex? I don’t think it’s something that people should be endorsing the way Ship Wrecked did. This is what took the book from “okay” to “I won’t recommend this to others.”
I loved Spoiler Alert, and I’m thankful for the body positivity that Olivia Dade tries to add to the book/Rom-com community. Ship Wrecked just wasn’t it.

Olivia Dade books are always a go-to for me- the Spoiler Alert series especially. I couldn't wait to read Ship Wrecked and I was not disappointed. :)
First of all- a plus size female AND male protagonist? SIGN ME UP. Maria and Peter had amazing chemistry, even during some of the slightly slower parts of the book and they kept me rooting for them. I loved everything about this fat positive take and the fact that the plot didn't revolve around their size but gave enough references to it that the representation was fully there and genuine. I also LOVED that Olivia Dade normalized female body hair (anywhere and everywhere) and that Maria fought against the stigma of her appearance without any self-hate in each situation where it popped up.
The spice was as always excellent, and the pieces of the story that brought in characters from the previous two books were some of my favorite parts. I felt like this book also had a little more depth to the main characters, and their stories both definitely had me tearing up at times.
I also loved the scenes featuring an intimacy coordinator! I thought that was a cool addition :)
All in all, a fantastic addition to the Spoiler Alert and Gods of the Gates world!
Possible TW/CW: fat phobia, misogyny, abandonment, death of a parent
**Thanks to NetGalley & Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC to review!**

This book had me HOOKED straight from the first page! I really loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author!

I love Olivia Dade’s love towards her characters. I loved Peter and Maria and the group chat. That being said, the pacing of this book was all over the place and it took me way too long to figure out where this one fit in the “Spoiler Alert” timeline.
The pacing and general plot made it almost impossible for me to get into the story and care about the story.

Right from the first sentence i was like 'oh its THAT kind of book!'- this is spicy and a quick read. thanks netgalley & the publisher for the arc!

LOVED this book. Right from page one I was hooked. I loved the pace of this book and the characters. Would recommend in a heart beat

I adored every moment of the Spoiler Alert series, and am ✨begging✨ for more. Of the three, this couple really enveloped me into their world. The body positivity/representation is spot-on, as in all of Dale’s works, but the complex and nuanced relationship between Peter and Maria felt more raw and deeper than the first two books’ respective couples. They really ebb and flow romantically and ultimately their slow burn is rooted in respect and personal growth that is realistic, and relatable. The book is sexy and funny, but gives so much more! 4.5 stars ⭐️
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this eARC.

I loved this book, Being plus sized I love feeling seen, but I love it not being the center focus even more.
This book will make you laugh and cry.
The only thing I didn’t love was somethings felt over explained in way that made me bored.
Definitely a must read for Olivia Dade!

An incredible end to the Spoiler Alert trilogy, though I would pay for more stories in this universe. Maria and Peter's off-the-charts chemistry and long-time yearning made the pay-off all the more satisfying and made me squeal with delight! The use of fanfiction interstitials were clever as always, and it was wonderful to see old favorites from the previous books in the series. This entire series has captured my heart and will definitely continue to be a comfort re-read for years to come. Someone adapt these books ASAP!

Olivia Dade is one of the few authors that has plus size main characters in her books, and not just “curvy” but actually plus size. As a plus size woman myself it really makes me feel seen and wanted.
Ship Wrecked follows Maria and Peter co-stars on the show Gods of the Gates, who are BOTH plus size 🥰 I love the representation but I love that the fact that they are plus size is not the main focus in the story. I really enjoyed getting to learn more about Maria and Peter and seeing their relationship develop. I laughed and I cried and I read this book in one sitting. I definitely recommend this read!

3.5/5 🌟, rounded up for a whole star rating.
I LOVED the inclusivity of having plus sized main characters, and the parts of the story where Maria stood her ground around changes others tried to force on her. The body positivity was delightful.
Maria and Peter were both great characters. I liked how witty and sharp they were with each other and loved the banter. It was one of my favorite things about the book.
My primary dislike was that at times throughout the story some things felt…overexplained? So those parts just dragged for me.
Overall, it was well written and I learned a TON of new words from this book!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved this book!! Olivia Dade is a wonderful author who writes books that are engaging and enjoyable to read. The plot and characters were well done and I would recommend this book and author to others without hesitation.

This book was hilarious and heartfelt and had a great deal of body positivity to it. I loved the two main characters and seeing them work through becoming a couple and understanding a each other.

This was a DNF for me. I read 22% of the book and wasn’t able to connect with the characters or the story line.
Thank you for the advanced readers copy and the opportunity to review this book!

It’s safe to say from the SPEED in which I read this book that I loved it. I enjoyed the banter, the tension, the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, the pining. It was so well written with characters that felt alive—full of history and pain and struggles. The development of the characters didn’t feel rushed or too thin, it flowed with the storyline.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Maria and Peter and LOVING that they’re both plus-sized characters and completely unapologetic about it. Ive never read a romance book where the MMC was not full of muscle and 20ft tall, so I thought this was refreshing and new. I definitely recommend this book, super fun and cute. Even a little sprinkle of steam!
**Thanks so much to Netgalley and Avon for an eARC of this book!**

Olivia Dade does it again! I devoured this book in one sitting, just like I did with the previous installment. Dade is the absolute queen at writing plus sized characters that are so unapologetically themselves. It's such a breath of fresh air to read in an overly saturated rom com genre. If you liked any of the other books in the Spoiler Alert saga, this one will not disappoint.
After a one night stand, Hollywood actor, Peter never expects to see Maria ever again. Only for her to turn up a few hours later along side him in a high stakes TV show audition. Despite their awkward parting, their chemistry lands them the roles of a lifetime. In effort to keep things civil and their careers intact, the best course of action is to ignore the growing feelings they have for each other.
Overall this was a great read! Maria and Peter's chemistry is present from the get go and I love the scenes they have together. The names/endearments Maria and Peter have for each other are adorable. I also appreciate that we get fully fleshed out character motivations. The character's actions throughout the book make complete sense when we learn about their past experiences. And I chuckled to myself at the Game of Thrones references we get. It calls out the last season in particular, if you know you know.
Unfortunately, there are a few things that stopped this from getting 5 stars. Firstly, if you read the other Spoiler Alert books you know about the interjections (text convos, emails, articles and AO3 synopses) that are put in between chapters. While I typically enjoy them, they felt under utilized here. And almost pointless. Also, at times, the pacing seemed odd. I got really confused when six years had passed all of a sudden. Lastly, Ship Wrecked seems to take the common route in developing conflict when one or two of its characters are career driven actors in Hollywood. The characters seem to realize they're two ships (hehe see what I did there) passing in the night, never meant to be. It's an over used trope and Dade has already used this in previous books. Kind of wish we went in a different direction.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend it despite its few hiccups. I give it a solid 4 stars.

Oh my gosh this book was such a thrill to read! Olivia Dade is at it again with writing her truly beloved fat characters. I really loved seeing in the third installment of the series the both of the main characters were fat. There simply is not enough fat representation in publishing, and that’s a huge part of my platform and very important to me so just love to see it. I specifically love to see fat characters written in a way that isn’t all about the trauma of being in a fat body. She wrote them both as very confident humans who just had to exist in a world that doesn’t like fat people very much usually and it was really well done! The story spans over six years so the timeline gets a little hard to follow every now and then but the backstory makes it worth it. Peter and Maria meet randomly at a sauna and get to know each other just to find out that they’ve been cast in the same show. So it’s a lovers to rivals to friends to lovers situation. Because you get such a lengthy timeline you also see their friendship build up, which leads to some of the most beautiful pining scenes I’ve ever read. Like their affection and attraction for each other is basically tangible. this book also wrapped up the series if I’m not mistaken so there was a particularly lengthy epilogue which was great to see the characters and find out what they were up to but it did drag a little bit.
Also I don’t know who gave Olivia Dade the inspiration to make this book spicier than all the others- BUT MY GIRL DELIVERED 🥵🥵🥵
10/10 will read anything this angel writes

This book is the delightful third installment in Olivia Dade’s Spoiler Alert series. Though each could be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed Peter and Maria’s story, I felt like they had the most chemistry out of each of the SA pairs.
Maria ghosts Peter after a one night stand, only to realize the next day that they’re co-starring in a 6 season series set on a literal remote island. This is an INSANE plot and tbh I wanted more of the inevitable drama that would exist were this a real plot.
This surprisingly is not an enemies to lovers, which missed some potential. Peter and Maria simply agree to be professional and “just friends.” But the second that the 6 years is up, they’re all over each other. There definitely could have been more pining or tension in between.
I loved the fat representation and the realisticness of the age-gap romance (I think it was 6 years difference? Maybe 8, I can’t remember). Overall, enjoyable rom-com!

I loved this book. I've said it before but i truly love seeing all the different types of bodies. I loved seeing the healthy positive image of plus size. This was such a sweet romance book and i loved it so much. Definitely reading more Olivia Dade

4 Stars I absolutely loved the first two books in the Spoiler Alert series and was thrilled to get this on NetGalley! I was even more thrilled that it was better than the first two! The story was deep, emotional, descriptive, and funny. Maria was hilarious and unapologetically herself. I still wish we had learned where she kept the pickled herring on her person to whip out at any time to threaten Peter anytime he called her Pippi. Both Maria and Peter had intense emotional obstacles to overcome due to their pasts, but it made their love story so much better. This book was everything I love about romance!
