I received an ARC, through Netgalley, ahead of release in exchange for an honest review.

Content Warnings: Loss of parent(s), crippling depression, anxiety, panic attacks, fatphobia, sexism, abandonment, cheating [off-page by one of the MCs exes], and years of foster care.

From the moment I saw Olivia tweet that we were getting another book, in the Spoiler Alert universe, I have been waiting for a chance to get my hands on it…so when I got the email Friday giving me access to the Netgalley ARC I hit download real quick!

I should have known this one was going to hit me harder than the other two books…just based on the beautiful dedication in the front.

What’s fun about Maria and Peter’s book is that we get to see them before, during, and after the show, GODS OF THE GATES. Both Spoiler Alert and All the Feels were set after the show had finished filming so it was fun to see a couple that worked so closely during the filming of the show.

Maria lost her parents at a young age and spent several years being bounced around the foster care system before finally having a family that was in it for keeps. Having the experience she did with foster care Maria is always apprehensive about relationships because in her experience, aside from the family that adopted her, everyone leaves. When Maria sees a handsome man at the sauna she’d determined to have a good night in his company but nothing more…so things get a little awkward the next day at her audition when he’s also there auditioning.

Peter grew up watching his mother battle depression and then losing her at a young age due to a stroke. Peter’s father always made him feel like he was not enough and never understood the passions that drove Peter to act rather than follow a “traditional” career path. All Peter wants to do is prove to his father that he made the right choice so he’s determined to “make it big” so his father finally recognizes all his years of hard work.

Maria and Peter are the first, romance novel, couple that I’ve deeply connected with, individually, on an emotional basis. Normally, when I read, I’ll connect with one and empathize with the other but I’ve never felt so deeply connected to both partners. Maria’s feelings of abandonment and Peter’s feelings of inadequacy are things I’ve struggled with since childhood and it made this a very emotional read for me.

I loved getting to see both Maria and Peter open up to each other and really work on understanding where the other was coming from. The way they both made it six years before finally giving in to their attraction again is just a testament to their individual strength…and stubbornness.

If you’re a fan of romcoms I highly suggest pre-ordering this fantastic book. I love how much care Olivia puts in to create each and every character. No matter the hardships they’ve been through they’re all determined, strong, and beautiful souls and I can’t wait to see what other characters Olivia crafts.

WOW. This book starts off with a literal bang when Peter and Maria hook up. Maria thinks it's just a one night stand, and Peter, who has some abandonment issues to work through, is upset when he finds that she's left without so much as a note the next morning. But a few hours later, the two meet one another again, this time to audition opposite one another for the roles of a lifetime on Gods of the Gates. Peter and Maria both get the gig and set out to spend six years filming together on a remote island.

The two butt heads at first, but soon form a strong friendship. After six years of pining in which they avoid sleeping together again, the show wraps, and Peter and Maria decide to give in to their feelings and commit to one another. But each has some things to work through individually before they can really make it work as a couple.

This book is amazing. Both the hero and the heroine have to do some growing and a little groveling. I also was stunned by the body positivity in this one. Dade always describes her heroines as fat, but Peter is too. And both Peter and Maria are also tall, strong, and hot, because none of these things are mutually exclusive. Additionally, Maria doesn't remove her body hair and stands up for herself when her job puts pressure on her to do so. By the end of the book, Peter is in his 40s and Maria is in her 30s, and though they want to marry, neither wants kids. I love the representation. Ultimately, this book was emotional, sexy as hell, and a fun read. I rate it 5 stars!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. This is the third book in a series from Dade, about various cast members from a Game of Thrones esque hit tv show. This one follows Maria and Peter, two stars of the show, who harbor feelings for each other while the show shoots for 6 years, refusing to give in to their feelings at the risk of ruining the dynamic of the show set. But when the series wraps, they’re confronted with six years of pend up emotion! It’s so so good. Not only are they both fat (and stay that way! No “glow up” makeover) giving amazing representation, but there are so many complex themes. Grief, personal boundaries, sacrifice, and family are all things explored. It’s an incredibly complex romance with two incredibly deep characters. I could not recommend if higher. I truly believe it’s Dade’s best work yet. When it’s published later this year, be sure to check it out!

I knew I was in for a good book when there was an orgasm on the first page. Peter and Maria are such well rounded characters and I loved learning about their backstory. At first I thought their fight was stupid but when they both came to their realizations afterwards I understood how important it was. The epilogue at the end with all the cast members was so cute!

I received an arc through netgalley.

Thank you to the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is everything to me. With two fat main characters, both confident I. Their body and willing to take up space, it’s a love story full of yearning, friendship, trust, and learning. Maria and Peter are real and flawed, but clearly made for each other, and it’s a joy to read their journey.

What I loved:
- Fat main characters who aren’t insecure
- intentional conversations about body representation
- slowburn over years / friends to lovers
- 🔥 chemistry
- the everchanging dynamics of family (including found family)
- how you handle a parent who loves you but doesn’t really know you
- scenes / characters from previous books!!
- set in Ireland for parts (a wonderful vibe!!)
- lots of humor and pet names and inside jokes
- all or nothing love that grows into accepting love
- positive therapy rep

Basically, I loved everything. I cannot overstate the power of Maria and Peter’s emotional journey as they bared their souls to each other and learned to accept the love each other could offer. This book will make you laugh unabashedly at their antics, make you cry at their tenderness and growth, and make you hope for a love like theirs.

Olivia Dade has done it once again, and this is my favorite in the Spoiler Alert series to date!

Firstly I loved this book so much and secondly I’m clapping Leni Kauffman for creating this enchanting artwork! This cover is FANTASTIC!

Welcome back to Spoiler Alert universe with another great book introducing us fabulous characters!

The brooding, man of a few words, Viking God meets with bold, confident, social, friendly Swedish goddess! Yes! Their chemistry between them puts the pages on fire!

Peter, socially inept, recently lost his mother and dysfunctional relationship with his father, needs a big break after working too hard for years as an aspiring actor.

Thankfully new TV series about Gods of Gates can give him the opportunity he’s looking for. But there’s a big problem: His Swedish goddess co-star Maria is the same woman he had a memorable one-night stand and very same woman tiptoeing from the hotel room early without saying goodbye or leaving any phone number behind. And now they are stuck in an island, working on a series side by side maybe for years if the audiences give the green light and enough interest to their performances.

Peter is still pissed off Maria for leaving him without saying a word and when Mary approaches for a quick chat, he retaliates her with a long speech that emphasizing how they cannot be partners because they are not equal. She only worked local Swedish theaters and she doesn’t have enough experience to be series star and if she fails, she’ll fail the entire installment.

After that jerk-ish pep talk, Maria swears to make him eat his own words in long term. The enemies to lovers vibes are everywhere.

Thankfully the hostility between co stars turns into friendship and their palpable chemistry is still there! They barely restrain themselves. But what if they start a relationship which threatens the show’s future. There are too many people working with them committed to show and any possible heartbreak, breakup or argument between them could directly affect their jobs.

Even though they make it work, Maria plans to go back to Sweden after the show. She’s a big family she adores. How can they be together as they want different things from live?

Brooding Viking God Peter and social butterfly Swedish goddess Maria are perfect couple! They became my favorite couple at the Spoiler Alert universe!

It was also pleasure to read group chats to learn what happened to the previous books’ amazing characters. Alex the Cupid made me laugh so much as usual.

Overall: my emotions are everywhere! I loved the characters and their meaningful, angsty, sentimental story! I highly definitely absolutely recommend it!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Oh my goodness, this book was amazing! If you have yet to read anything by Olivia Dade, you need to. She is the queen of writing an amazing, badass plus-size heroines and swoony romances.

Things I Loved: The tension, the pining, omg the banter. Peter, that simp of a man who just wants stability and love. My god, Maria…she was so fierce, quick-witted and so so real. I aim to have half the confidence she had in life. The Swedish snacks, Maria’s family and their banter. This is a comfort read of lovers to friends to lovers again, giving people a second chance. This relationship felt so honest and natural. I loved the timeline giving us actual years of foundation of friendship. Steamy scenes, udder freaking perfection. Both of these MCs where fat, but this was not the focus, these characters where not focused on their bodies and I so appreciated that kind of representation.

Things I Didn’t Care For: Anytime Gods was said…like this just annoyed me (I know, it’s the little things). I think with the conflict, I would have liked a bit more responsibility on Maria’s end, both had reasons to feel the way they did.

A new Spoiler Alert book by Olivia Dade and it was freaking phenomenal!

Ship Wrecked was highly entertaining and I enjoyed it. Having read a total of two Olivia Dade books, I can say with confidence that Olivia Dade is the best author of plus-size heroines I have EVER read.
This was everything that I love about contemporary romance. Literally, everything.

This book was fantastic and I am so so excited to read the next book!

Ship Wrecked took me on one heck of a ride that I didn’t want to get off of.
Dade always executes her books, you will be left feeling windsweep and satisfied.

“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”

Loved it. Ship Wrecked felt like a refreshing dessert of the Spoiler Alert series. While the first two books had drama and a rollercoaster of emotion, Ship Wrecked is sweet and comforting.

Olivia Dade does an excellent job of character development over the course of her books and that is definitely true here. I really liked the lovers to friends to lovers again relationship between Maria and Peter. It felt like a natural progression for them. The banter between Maria and Peter was absolutely perfect!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read Ship Wrecked early! I throughly enjoyed it and I’m sure others will as well.

I’ve read all the books in this series and I keep waiting for them to feel repetitive or boring. I should stop worrying because Olivia Dade delivers every time. I adored both main characters and loved getting to see other couples whose books are finished. God bless Olivia- queen of the nerd romance.

I would happily read a spinoff book about every character in this universe. Olivia Dade is the reigning queen of fat romance and I especially love that both characters are fat in Ship Wrecked! I loved Maria and Peter and their sex scenes were perfection.

Olivia Dade does it again!! An excellent addition to the series. Like the previous book, this has a great combination of romance and character growth and this one is even more impressive considering the passage of time. I really love the characters of Peter and Maria and how their personalities just leap off the page. I really hope that epilogue was hinting at a Carah book coming next. As long as you're writing these, I'll be reading them!

WOW!!! Olivia Dade has done it again.

"Ship Wrecked" is the latest installment in her "Spoiler Alert" series, and it might just be her most complex to date. Following a mind-blowing one-night stand (talk about opening with a bang), Maria sneaks out of Peter's hotel room...only to discover that he's to be her co-star in the "Gods of the Gates" series. And because their storyline takes place while they're stranded on a remote island, he's going to be her ONLY co-star for the next six years. Despite the rocky start, that sexual tension never goes away, but they have to restrain themselves for the sake of their tiny, intimate film crew, which becomes a family.

Of course, they're going to discover that keeping their relationship professional while on-set is their easiest obstacle. They have polar-opposite approaches to their careers: Peter is desperate to solidify his place in Hollywood, while Maria is happy to be acting wherever she finds rewarding roles. There's also baggage from past relationships and family trauma to work through, too, and Maria and Peter will both have to break down the walls they've built if they want to make a proper go of things.

I'm obsessed with the way Dade writes fat characters. Their body size isn't some flaw they have to overcome; the love interest doesn't find them sexually attractive even despite and/or because of their size. They just...are. Maria is a self-confident woman who couldn't care less what Hollywood beauty standards dictate for her, and I appreciate that Peter himself isn't the "leading-man-2%-body-fat" type. (Marcus and Alex, from "Spoiler Alert" and "All the Feels," are both under that umbrella, so I liked the change up!)

But most importantly, Dade's romances always feel...real. They're real people, with different personalities and different issues, who have to work to make love happen for them in a real way. You can always root for her couples, and Maria and Peter are no exception here. (And if you want spice? HONEY! There were scenes that made me blush!!!)

All in all, it's a wonderful addition to one of my favorite romance series ever.

I’ve been waiting for this book, the last of Dade’s Gods at the Gate series. It was great and I especially enjoyed how much time was elapsed to build this relationship. It’s always fun to see the characters from the other books too, I wish we’d gotten a bit more of that. Highly recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for this eARC.

OLIVIA DADE RULES.

I was so excited to get this one (and coincidentally reread the first two in this series for emotional comfort purposes earlier this week, so I WAS READY). My excitement was justified. Olivia Dade described this book on Twitter as "only one island," and I DID love the part of the book in which the main characters were filming on a remote Irish island (TAKE ME THERE). This book is just as sweet and fun and hot as the previous two entries. I particularly like the continued emphasis on the found family the cast has built over the run of this show. I want to hang out with them! Anyway, love these books! Hoping there will be at least one more!

4.75/5 ⭐️s

Fat main characters. That was 95% of my excitement for this book going into it, but by the time I finished, it seemed like such a small selling point compared to the rest of the story (because it’s just that good).

Maria and Peter feel immediate sparks when they meet, and it’s only a few hours before they’re acting on that attraction. After spending the night together though, Maria leaves without saying goodbye…only to see Peter again when he’s cast as her co-star on Gods of the Gates. The co-star she’ll be filming with…on an isolated island…for six seasons.

I’ve loved Maria and Peter since Spoiler Alert, and I was so excited for their book! I loved that Olivia gave them this back story of lovers turned friends before finally exploring their romance. Their mutual respect and adoration for each other was so evident, and the chemistry was INTENSE. It made the eventual payoff of them finally acting on their feelings all the better.

Olivia’s stories are always very character-driven, so I don’t know why I’m surprised these two characters were so well-developed outside of their romance. Peter and Maria both have skeletons in their closets, and those pasts really drive their choices in this story. What I loved most though is that, despite both being fat, that is never a stand out characteristic. They’re fat. It’s not what drives them as characters. It’s a trait as simple as her blonde hair or his taciturn demeanor. A+++ for that choice, Olivia.

And, in the middle of all of that, we’re still gifted with laugh-out-loud moments with the rest of the Gods of the Gates cast and Maria’s family!

This book is genuinely one of my perfect reads. I laughed, I swooned, I got a little squirmy during the spicy scenes, and I cried (that epilogue!!) I’m sad to say goodbye to this series as a whole, but Maria and Peter’s story was the perfect finale!

Spice: 2.75/5 🌶
