I thought this book was so cute! Though it didn’t hook me as early, the fast pacing was something I appreciated. I adore Brad. He’s a hot baker, he knows what he wants out of life, and he works in a cat cafe! Talk about dreamy. I loved him and I always looked forward to his chapters.
Lindsay, on the other hand, could’ve been featured less. I realize that’s not possible because she’s the female protagonist but she irritated me on more ways than one. She had a rocky childhood and her parents didn’t give her the best view of what romance and love and marriage should look like. I understand her apprehension when she thought Brad cheated on her. I applaud her protecting her peace by not dealing with him for five years, especially after how hurt she was, but I wish she would’ve given him a chance to explain. His character spoke true to me from the beginning, and Lindsay’s downfall is that she didn’t trust him.
Good for Brad for not chasing after her for too long. I’m a sucker for a good chase, but Brad clearly knows his worth.
The story setting was dreamy and I love that it’s centered around cats. Cats are my favorite pet so I thought that was a cute addition. It’s set in New York City which is always so lovely. The friendships in this were great and so real. The characteristics each character had were unique and diverse and I loved it.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

DNF @ 30%. I was bored and life is too short for boring books. Disappointed because I enjoyed the last book from what I remember. I usually love second chance romances as well but I just couldn’t connect with this.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a typical easy to read romance. I usually don't care for second chance and this was borderline for me. It could have been worse but could have been better.

This was a pretty standard rom-com for me. I loved the setting of the cat cafe, so much so that it's my new dream to open my own. I really liked Brad and Lindsey, I'm just not so sure how much I liked them together.
I loved the idea of Brad working at the cafe, and making homemade gourmet kitty treats. Hamilton and the other kitties definitely stole the show. They were so ADORABLE!

Lindsey has spent the last five years actively hating Brad, even going so far as to avoid any place he might be. Brad has spent that time missing Lindsey and wanting to explain what really happened the night they broke up, and maybe against all odds get back together. Once Lindsey lets down her guard a bit they have some sizzling chemistry, and act on it. Which cements Brad's feelings, but just confuses Lindsey. This causes them to rehash the past quite a bit, which did get a little bit old, but once they realized they were going to actually try and do this things got better and overall liked what was going on.

This is book #3 in this series. I adore the setting so much and would love for the Whitman Cat Cafe to be down the street from me.

Lindsay is introduced in the previous books, but we don’t know a ton about her. I was interested to learn more about her story. And when Lauren hires her one that got away ex boyfriend, we knew this was gonna be intense.

Brad was adamant from the beginning that losing Lindsay was a huge mistake and he wanted to get back together, but with everyone’s trust issues this was not going to be an easy feat.

I wanted some more background information about Lindsay and her trust issues and her parents divorce. It was mentioned in passing and was literally the root of everything that went wrong with her and Brad, but we didn’t get the deep dive I wanted.

I also didn’t understand how a cat cafe would have the budget for a pastry chef. Especially one of Brad’s reputation. But I think you aren’t supposed to question it…

I did like how the majority of the story was Brad trying to win Lindsay back and then it switched to Lindsay having to prove her intentions.

I wonder if we’ll get another book in this series…maybe Joey Maguire…

Chasing Your Tail by Katie McMurray was a lovely quick read. I fell in love with Brad from the start and just thought any guy willing to whip up treats for animals is a 10/10 in my eyes. This is a second chance at love book that will have you wanting them to get back together and to resolve their problems. The romance made me really frustrated. It was a little repetitive for my taste but, as Romance Comedy books go, this was alright. Would I read this again? Probably not. Would I recommend it to my followers? Absolutely. I didn’t realize this was book #3 so, maybe I need to dive into the first two.

Thanks again to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC!

Two chefs get a second chance at love in McMurray’s sweet but slight third Whitman Street Cat Café romance (after What the Cat Dragged In). Pastry chef Brad Marks wants the opportunity to create his own menu and run his own kitchen. A job at the Brooklyn café that gives the series its name will allow him just that—but the café’s manager is best friends with Lindsay Somers, the ex-girlfriend he can’t get out of his mind. Lindsay caught Brad cheating five years before the start of the book—though Brad swears it was a misunderstanding—and the pair haven’t spoken since. In the interim, Lindsay’s lost her passion for cooking and has refocused on food writing. She’s far from thrilled when her boss asks her to profile the “hunky new baker” at the Cat Café, but the assignment provides an opportunity for the pair to process their shared past—and maybe even plan for a future. McMurray has a talent for conveying the closeness between friends and lovers, but the plot itself is flimsy: the only conflict keeping the couple apart is Lindsay’s dithering over whether she can trust Brad again, which drags on for far too long. Still, this uncomplicated romance has plenty of charm.

This was an average read for me. Nothing too thrilling. Just okay book. I think the synopsis was way nore better than a actual book.

One of the best swoon-worthy second chance romances I’ve read this year. An unfortunate wrong place wrong time event cause their relationship to end. Although both have tried to moved on there are still feelings for each other. Intertwining the past memories to the present was well writing, but also gave us a glimpse to their relationship.
Lindsay and Lauren may not seem to be similar names but in the beginning I did have trouble distinguishing them when they were in the same scenes. A little confused. Didn’t realize this was book #3, so the names are already established.

This was a sweet as kitten purrs and cinnamon crunch muffins.

This is a pretty run of the mill second chance romance where our MC’s are clearly very into and very not over each other. The cat cafe and cooking competition angles give it something to make it unique (and I’m a cat person, so, good job). It’s also relatively low-conflict, so if you’re burnt out or turned off by romances that rely heavily on conflict, this will be fun for you.

Lindsay and Brad dated in culinary school but broke up by just being… young and probably needing therapy. The only thing about this that sort of gave me pause was how hard Brad pushed to get Lindsay back, but it never actually crossed any red flag lines, so it was more annoying than worrying.

But their relationship was darling and obviously crafted with so much care. I had a really good time reading this.

As a cat lover and coffee drinker the blurb/title/cover really captured my attention. I wanted to love this book but unfortunately it didn’t work out. It took me a while to get through the story. I was really frustrated with the characters. And the romance felt stagnant.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
2.5 stars rounded up
I read the previous books in this series - liked the first one enough to read the second, then really liked the second. This one was very disappointing. The reasons why Brad and Lindsay weren't together were SO repetitive. Yeah, we get why they're not together, Lindsay can't get her act together, and why does Brad even want her back? I would have DNF'd this but I enjoyed catching up with the other characters from the previous books.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review from NetGalley.

I really don’t want to give negative reviews anywhere, but I don’t have many positive things to say about this book unfortunately. I had planned to quit about 30% in but then decided to power through to leave a proper review.

The cover was cute and I thought the premise was good. Maybe I was expecting too much? I thought it would be a cute romcom.

Honestly, I wasn’t rooting for the characters to get back together at all. They really didn’t seem like much of a fit. There wasn’t much in terms of character development, I honestly don’t feel like I know much about them except their careers, and Lindsay’s trust issues. They didn’t even seem to really like each other, always arguing and speaking rudely to one another.

The book just felt really repetitive - Brad saying he was still in love with her and wanting to get back together, and Lindsay talking about her trust issues, over and over.

I did enjoy the parts with the food competition, with Lindsay judging & Brad participating. Maybe ‘cause I’m a Food Network fan? That was fun.

I very very rarely DNF, but if I weren’t reviewing an ARC, I would have.

I have read the other books in the series so far and enjoyed them and was intrigued by the premise for this one – I love the cover art, and the storyline was one that I found interesting and easy to read. With that being said, this was a hard one to pin my thoughts down on / write a review.

To start, I want to talk about what I enjoyed and was working for me in this read. As mentioned, this is the third book in a standalone series. I loved revisiting these characters (who now feel like old friends), seeing where they’re at now and seeing the next story play out. It was fun to revisit the Cat Café too – I love the adoptions that take place in each book 🐾💖, and I enjoy the friendships portrayed.

I’m a sucker for a foodie type romance read, so with the mains both being in the culinary world I was loving that bit. (Lindsey being a food writer / reviewer, and Brad being a pastry chef). I also love a chance to see a bit of the culinary reality tv world, so that bit was fun for me too. I liked how the second chance romance angle was coming about in the book as well and that the story overall seemed to flow pretty well and made for a fun, light, easy romcom read.

Now I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my one wish / nitpick with the read. In reading the story I thought it was valid that Brad and Lindsey as exes had baggage, and obviously would have some slightly repetitive discussions as they tried to move through things. However, Lindsey’s stubbornness without any real updates to thoughts / feelings / processing did get a bit monotonous at times. Honestly, Brad was way more patient than I would have been in that situation. All this to say, I wish there had been some more development in that area so it wouldn’t have felt so repetitive or some tweaks.

Overall however, I found this to be a fast and enjoyable read. I liked the characters and the story, it kept me interested and despite some slight frustrations along the way – I was very satisfied with the ending. I do hope we’ll get another story – perhaps Evan’s?? – and another opportunity to visit the Cat Café Crew and see where everyone is at.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casa for the opportunity to read an early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and freely offered.

I wanted to love this book. The cover is fabulous, the description held so much promise. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. It may have helped to have read the previous books, in order to know more of the characters' history. However, the entire storyline was very repetitive. Brad, obviously in love, keeps begging Lindsay to give him a second chance. She keeps saying, I don't know. Then the final two chapters, everything is resolved, and the characters have magically made peace with the past, despite 22 chapters of rehashing the same trust issues. Foodies may enjoy this book, based on all the conversations about every cuisine imaginable. What I did love were the cats, I did love the encouragement to rescue and adopt. I loved Lindsay's friends! I just wish Lindsay's past was a bit clearer, and there was more to the storyline of them actually rebuilding their relationship.

This took me so long to finish it and I was so close to DNF almost at the beginning.

I didn’t enjoy the writing, the two main characters are one of the worst characters I’ve read about, completely toxic to each other and just awfully written.

I wanted to DNF when I realised this was a second change romance between a guy that constantly flirted with people whilst in a relationship and a girl that clearly has unresolved emotional issues and it’s still not over him (even tho he kissed someone else when they were together). Just this should tell you all you need to know about the book

Only gave 2 stars for the food and cat content

I really enjoyed this book. I hope the author continues to write more books in the future. I can't wait to see what the author releases in the future.

I initially was engaged in this book however around the 30% mark, it started to feel repetitive. I got lost in all the details and words, zoned out and got detached from the characters. I enjoyed that the main characters weren’t perfect and had arguments but I felt like some conversations were constantly repeated and more information to give us more background or just additional aspects of the characters were missing. I liked the setting of the story, the cat cafe/rescue concept, and chef/food reviewer aspects but unfortunately I didn’t connect with the characters or story overall.

Super cute girl re-meets boy story. After 5 years of ex-dodging, Lindsay can't help but see him everywhere when her best friend hires him to work for her in the cat cafe. Brad is excited to be forced back into Lindsay's orbit after he was unable to explain the compromising position he was in that lead to their breakup. Lindsay has to go out on a limb personally and professionally to welcome him back, but is she willing to do it?
