A friends to lovers romance trope that also has a puppy?? Yes please! The banter between these characters was so good!

Jane Austen, Ted Lasso, & Great British Bake Off references abound in this delightful small town love story. It’s the story of Charlotte, who is fed up by yet another bad breakup. She decides to make a “puppy pact” where she swears off dating relationships, and instead focuses on raising her new puppy, Bingley. The only wrench in the plan is her neighbor, George, who she is growing closer to by the day…

If you are looking for a Hallmark-esque, cozy, low angst love story, this would fit the bill. I really liked Charlotte and George! It’s the perfect winter season book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

When Charlotte has yet another bad experience with a guy she’s dating she decides to swear off men and get a puppy instead and it turns out to be a great decision for a while. Until her and her coworker/neighbour George starting getting close. Should she stick to the puppy pact after all or take a chance on someone?

This was a super cute book!! I loved the idea of it and as a dog owner myself, I can say that puppies really do make everything better.

I liked Charlotte a lot but found her insistence on sticking to this silly pact she made even when she has feelings for George a little annoying. It’s okay to change your mind about something. George was very likeable and the fact that he was a reader and an Austen fan to boot? Love it. I didn’t feel a ton of chemistry between the two characters and thought the friendship was lovely to read but when they first got together it was just a little awkward for me. The story took a while to unfold, a little bit too long for my liking as I already knew they’d end up together and it was just a matter of it happening.

Sad there was no spice and it was only fade to black.

Overall a fun read! Enjoyed the writing style as well.

3.5 stars, bumped up to 4 for good reads!

Pride & Puppies is a cozy romance set in the charming Vermont town of Pine Hollow. Cute idea, adorable puppies. I just didn't connect with any of the characters. She was annoying, he was way too passive. She's given up men, he's loved her from afar.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. Pride & Puppies was exactly the book I needed for a long day of travel. I loved the banter between Charlotte & George, along with the Jane Austen references. Friends to more is one of my favorite romance tropes. And puppies! Who doesn’t love puppies?

Aw, I loved it! Such a sweet, light, charming story - i loved the puppies, and the characters were so nice.! Iwish i lived in Pine Hollow!

Friends-to-lovers, slow burn romance.

This is a spin-off of an earlier series that I haven’t read, but I don’t think it’s necessary to read them first for this stand-alone book. It’s a sweet, funny romance with great main and secondary characters. If looking for a quick romcom to read, this is a good one.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Pride & Puppies to come out November 22, 2022!

Puppies and Pride and Prejudice?! Count me in! Going into this book I thought it was going to be a retelling but it’s more so an ode to Jane Austen’s work in general which I loved! A cute, fun love story mixed with the perfect amount of Jane Austen references. I could definitely see this being made into a Hallmark movie because it leaves you with all the warm fuzzies!

The main characters, Charlotte and George, have great chemistry right from the start. I loved their relationship with each other but also with their siblings. Having two sisters myself I always find it endearing when romance books show the importance of sibling relationships and not just romantic relationships.

This is such a perfectly cozy romance book and I found it so delightful! If you’re a dog person, Jane Austen fan or just want a cute rom com, read this book when it’s out in November! Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this and to Lizzie Shane for writing such a lovely story!

I don't know man, you had Jane Austen and puppies, certainly enough to work with. But the characters have no tension and the MC is a little on the far side of neurotic for my taste.

This was one of the cutest books I’ve read in a long time, and it combined my two favorite things: romance and dogs!

Oh my gosh. Combining two of the best things in the world - Jane Austen and a sweet, baby soft puppy. I absolutely loved this so much. I found myself laughing, tearing up, excited to know what happened next and so much more.

What I really loved about Pride & Puppies was that I actually didn’t feel like I knew what was happening next. There wasn’t a stereotypical piece of the puzzle because i felt like things could go so many ways. I loved the external plots happening, in fact, I must now go and pick up more of the authors works.

The writing in this was beautiful, reminded me of Gilmore Girls in a way and just had me wanting to keep going and keep going. I loved Charlotte and George’s story and I may eventually need to get a doggo named Bingley.

I am simple: give me a rom-com with a dog on the cover, and I am going to pick it up. This was such a fast read and I think that the main element of the story that made me go through the book so fast was this book charm. All the events that were happening in the book were just amazing and the author did an awesome job in portraying the characters, main and secondary. All in all, this book is the perfect escape for fans of romantic-comedies that bring on funny moments at all times!

this book was so cute!! I love any book that involves dogs and this one did not disappoint! I loved the slow burn at first between Charlotte and George. It was so enjoyable watching their relationship slowly blossom. I can’t wait to check out other books by the author!

"He knows you're a sucker for Jane Austen and rom-coms and that the way to your heart is through ridiculously long hikes and buying presents for your dog."

George and Charles were so cute, but man did they take a really long time to figure things out. I liked all the Jane Austen references and quotes at the beginning of each chapter. Do guys really read Jane Austen? and aww he dressed up for the Austen tea party and has a book club with his sisters.

Firstly I want to thank Netgalley, Forever and Hachette Book Group for the free arc copy in exchange for my honest review and opinions.

I didn't realize this was the 4th book in a series, but that said it reads as a stand alone well. I was fortunate to be one of the lucky ones to get this arc when it was put on as a read now. I was drawn in by the title alone. Puppies and Pride and Prejudice?! What's not to like there.

Charlotte is a doctor and George is a physical therapist, both working at the same senior community in small town Vermont. George has liked Charlotte since he met her, Charlotte was stuck on finding her Mr. Darcy. Her late mother loved Jane Austen so Charlotte and her sisters do as well.

George is a transplant from Colorado, longing to find his place and a family of his own. Torn between staying for Charlotte and moving back to Colorado for his family.

I loved this book and the characters. George is instantly a loveable man. Everyone likes him and he is a kind, caring man. Charlotte is a ball full of energy that doesn't sit still for long. She is always doing things for others, and only wants what's best for those she cares for. After years of bad boyfriends she decides to take a break from men and get a puppy. She ends up spending more and more time with George and his dog, falling in love.

I'm interested in reading the other 3 books before this even if they don't fully connect with George and Charlotte. I would love to read more with Kendall and Magda and find out what happens with Beks and her husband. I found this book to be well written, well paced, and well thought out. I only would wish for a little more heat, but understand this is a closed doors romance series.

All in all, 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the premise of this and the Jane Austen elements were very nice but the "conflict" was a bit too gentle to hold my attention.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for an ARC of this book! I’ve willingly read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

PRIDE & PUPPIES (and the books that come before it) is a must read for all dog lovers.

Charlotte has spent her dating years focused on finding the perfect man: Mr. Darcy. But with every smug, brooding bachelor she’s tried to mold herself to fit with, Charlotte has time and time again been left disappointed. After breaking up with her most recent Darcy, she makes a pact with her two best friends: they’ll take a six-month break from men, and adopt puppies. Yet she soon finds herself enamored but the friendship of her coworker and the new guy in town (though he’s been there for eighteen months already), George, who has been struggling to feel like the leading man in his own love stories.

PRIDE & PUPPIES has a lot going for it. I loved the small-town aspect of the book, along with the multitude of characters many Lizzie Shane fans will recognize from her previous works. The romantic gestures were plentiful and the antics of Charlotte, George, and their dogs were adorable. And while I sometimes wanted to shake Charlotte and George for their lack of communication, PRIDE & PUPPIES was a sweet look into taking chances and ending up where (and with whom!) you were meant to be all along.

Very cute read. One of those romance novels where you totally know where it's going and how it's going to end up, but cute enough to keep you reading. The dogs help! I'm a sucker for any book with adorable dogs in it. Overall, an adorable light read.

this book is a cute, fluffy rom-com that focuses on Charlotte and George. i enjoyed the dynamic between them, but they irritated me as individuals.

Charlotte is a quirky, too-much-too-handle, somewhat self-deprecating FMC who is obsessed with Jane Austen. she gets out of a bad relationship, then swears off men and gets a puppy, all while playing matchmaker for her friend, neighbour, and coworker, George—a nice guy who is also somewhat self-depracating with the “nice guys finish last” mentality. he has loved Charlotte for over a year, and everyone knows it but her.

Charlotte and George are “just friends” for 60% of the book, and they both spend all their time trying to convince themselves and everyone else that it’s true. when they get together, they both question the relationship until the end of the book.

overall, i found the book to be cute yet predictable. it wasn’t bad by any means, but i didn’t really love it either. there is an HEA and no third act breakup, which i appreciated. if you’re looking for a super light and easy read with no spice and average characters, i would recommend this.
