ARC provided by NetGalley and publisher for an honest review. This book was not for me. The storyline was all over the place and more on the sadist abusive side. The writing quality was extremely poor. Not only the dialect between the characters but the grammar errors were extensive. I know members of a MC, and they would be slightly offended by how Kathryn Kelly portrayed them.

A seriously dark biker book, because this isn’t a romance, this is a rough read with many trigger warnings such as rape, sexual assault, violence etc, yes it’s sold as a dark romance , but I struggled to get past other things such as the demeaning language and treatment of women, not just lack of any romance (inc dark) this just wasn’t for me, spent most the book wanting her to get out of there

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I liked this book and finished it within a few hours. The characters were well thought out. The description was done very well. I had no problem running it through in my mind like a movie.
It was not one of those books were you could easily tell the ending either.

This MC romance was definitely not for me. Trigger warnings for on-page sexual abuse, rape, homelessness, and drug use. All MC romances (or at least most of them) are very much in the morally grey area. This one - was on the very dark side of grey. The MC president describes murdering people, running drugs and guns, and other very illegal and basically immoral activities. These are not reformed bikers wanting to go straight. There is also a significant age gap between the leads - and the heroine is only 18, just turned eighteen. I don't mind a good age gap romance - but in this situation the power differential between them was very starkly portrayed. I desperately wanted Meggie to just get out of there. In MC books where the girls are choosing to participate in the club as club girls that is one thing - but Meggie was trapped in a very bad situation and was not really choosing the life so much as it was either life on the streets, returning to a life of abuse, or the MC.

In the end this was a DNF at the 30% mark for me. Beyond the other things that mentioned - the speech of the characters, while maybe more accurate for how folks in the lifestyle would speak, was very difficult to read and understand. Also - the demeaning language used about women in particular was tough for me in this book.

I received this as an ARC via NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Wow. So good!! This story flows and the characters have great banter and connections. A great MC romance book that has twist and turns that I didn’t expect and made it a page turner. Highly recommend!!

Brutal book! This was a gritty biker romance minus the romance. Outlaw was aptly named, and seriously rough around the edges type of man. Megs was a nearly innocent young woman that was steadfast and bold for her age. Their story is as rough as the ride.

“You’re a psycho. You know that?”
“Ain’t nothin’ but a thing, Megan. My ass might be a psycho but I’m your psycho.”

What did I like? I liked that Megan got to Outlaw… and he tried not to let her but it was useless. Gritty story! I enjoyed it! Definitely not for the faint of heart or the romantics. Five stars!

Would I recommend or buy? Yes, I’d definitely read more by this author also. The book has a hard edge and bikers give no apology.

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left this opinion.
