I couldn't really get into it, it was okay. I think perhaps I struggled coming to the series such a long way into it - the story itself might be standalone but the character development isn't, and I often find this with detective series.

I found it really hard to get into this book. I thought based on the title and cover that it was going to be really good, but I was disappointed.

When I started this audiobook I didn’t realize it was a series. Did I miss out on some of the relationship backstories? Yes. Did it matter to the story? Absolutely not. This was totally able to be read as a standalone.

This author had me guessing from the very beginning until the very end. So well written. I cannot wait to read more in this series!

Wish I had read the previous books and will now be investing so quality time in starting at the beginning. A stalwart character at the head of the cast - good feeling inside to!

Novel number 11 starring the amazing Lottie Parker. But to be candor this was not my favourite of the series. Still a good read, and continues the character development of the main protagonist and other main characters so hopefully setting up for book 12 which I will definitely read.
Personally I think you need to read all these books in order to appreciate the skill Gibney has in her fictional works.
Regarding book 11….I didn’t really like the whole ‘Feathers keep birds warm… ‘ magpie/killer chat, I expected to understand this line of storytelling/ first person view from the killer as the novel went on, but I did not find any clarity at all. I found it unwarranted.
The story itself was good, and I could not work out the murderer at all, but it just fell short for me personally compared to the previous 10 books.
Regarding the narration I enjoyed and it was read well. I enjoyed it more then reading the Ebook.
Again this is my personal opinion, Patricia Gibney is one of my favourite authors and I still thoroughly look forward to book 12.

Something whistling through the door behind her caused her to turn. A shadow spread across the opening. She clasped a hand to her mouth, stilling the fear that was rising. The menacing shadow was followed by a face that sent a cold shiver down her spine…

When the call comes in about Lucy, a seventeen-year-old girl murdered after the secret party she held in her parents’ home, Detective Lottie Parker is first on the scene. As she picks her way through the smashed glasses and the blood spatter on the perfect cream carpet, she is horrified to see Lucy’s angelic face, silvery-blue eyes forever closed.

As Lottie breaks the news to Lucy’s heartbroken parents and the devastated partygoers, she discovers that hours before her death Lucy had revealed a terrible secret about her friend Hannah. And when Lottie finds Lucy’s bloodstained clothing hidden in Hannah’s bedroom, she has no option but to bring the shy, frightened girl into custody.

But Hannah claims to have no memory of the night Lucy died and Lottie begins to question her guilt. Then a fifteen-year-old boy who also attended the party is pulled from the canal. And as Lottie investigates, she discovers something shocking. Her own son Sean was at the party. Why did he lie to her? Is her beloved child a witness or a suspect… or is he now in the killer’s sights?
Audiobook was a joy to listen to. AMAZING!!

I am sorry but I just couldn't get into this audiobook. potentially because it is the first one I have listened to in the series or maybe just not for me.

I loved this book from the moment I started listening. the narrator, Michele Moran was absolutely amazing. Her Irish accent was a joy to listen too and she brings each character to life superbly..
The Guilty Girl is an utterly brilliant creation that flows really well.. The secrets held within each page are slowly revealed and the twists just keep coming. This is one of those books that you become invested in the characters quite quickly and I thought I had figured out who the killer was only to find out I had fallen for the red herring again. A compelling listen that is made all the better by the super narration. I highly recommend this author and this series. Just brilliantly captivating..

The Guilty Girl is the 11th book in the Detective Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. I had not read the previous books, but was easily able to jump into this as a standalone mystery. I have added the previous books to be "To Be Read" list because I enjoyed this one so much!!!

First off, let me say that I really enjoyed the narration by Michele Moran. She really brought this story to life!

I absolutely loved this book! Detective Lottie Parker has a lot on her plate and I think that makes her so relatable! (I love how the author really developed Lottie and gave her depth, so you could actually feel how she felt and understand her actions.) I think she has become one of my favorite book characters!

This book was incredible! The story was well developed and vibrant. There were so many twists and turns and secrets to try to unravel. The mystery was laid out and filled with layers. As each new piece of the puzzle was unveiled I found myself on the edge of my seat hungry for more!

I definitely recommend this book to crime fans! I'll be reading the previous books while I anxiously wait & hope for number 12!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was my first book of the series and I'll go back to the other ones now, as I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Narrator was also great.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to listen to this ARC.

The Guilty Girl Patricia Gibney
This is book 11 in the Lottie Parker series, and wow, what a book it is.
Murder, mystery and family drama with Lotties son being a guest at a party where a girl was murdered kept me turning the pages.
Any time I thought I worked it out, I was wrong.
I part read and part listened to this book, I enjoyed the narration of Michelle Moran, although I think I got more into the book while reading it.
Patricia writes so well, that you can build a whole picture of what is happening as you read, you just get lost into the story (in a good way) Patricia is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
Bring on book 12!!

Narrator 5 stars
Great soothing voice!!

Story 4 stars
I really enjoyed this authors writing style. I found myself hanging on every word needing just one more chapter.

So as this is book 11 I've promptly gone to Audible and brought the first 3 books in the series.

This was my first book in the series, I do need to look out for the rest. It was very well written and the characters quickly become interesting - even though it was the 11th book and this was my first.

I suppose it is because my children are at that age that it resounds with me.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and the narration

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

This is not the first Audio book I have listened to in the Lottie Parker series and it wont be the last
This was my second book and the first I listened to was a lot earlier in the series but it didn't matter as the can be read/ listened to as stand alone books as its the crime that is the story , That said I do like Lottie and her family and the whole Irish detective investigation
If you like a good detective series you won't go far wrong with these

Despite not having read the first 10 books in this series, it has not detracted from my enjoyment of Book 11 - although I can see that I have missed out on what appears to be a sweet romance between Lottie and Boyd; so I may have to go back and read previous books in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the case unfold, although I wasn't as keen on the reveal being a gushing confession by the culprit - that felt a little lazy in all honesty. For the most part, this book is well written and contains a complex plot with lots of moving parts and suspects; this keeps the story interesting from beginning until the end. At the start of the book there are a lot of characters and threads, which feel a little overwhelming - they are pretty had to keep track of in an audio format, so you may be better with the written format for this one. There is a first person PoV from the killer which in theory is nice, but I'm not sure it clarified the 'why' much - his deranged ramblings were probably a bit detrimental to the credibility of the story. That aside, I did enjoy the book. Many thanks to NetGallery and Bookouture Audio for allowing me to get a copy of the book.

I absolutely loved this book although the extremely dark subjects it is written with such remarkably raw unapologetic truth and the characters while still true to past novels show growth and development that doesn't at all ring false which is nice for continuing with them on thier cases and I found DI Lottie Parker more likable and while still tough and brash is the perfect balance to make her someone i will forever keep an eye out for and read ever book Patricia Gibney writes and as always the narration is perfection

*SPOILERS AHEAD!*

I have really enjoyed Patricia Gibney’s other books, but this one I really didn’t like. Mostly due to the content. Over the past couple years I have drastically decreased the number of crime thriller/police procedural books that I read, mostly because I just can’t handle reading about police after everything that happened with George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. There are a few authors that I still read, and Gibney is one of them.

What I didn’t like about this one is that everyone who is murdered are children. A 17yo, a 15yo, and a 10yo. I have kids those ages (or close), and I really didn’t like reading about them being tortured and killed. Gibney uses third person omniscient POV, which I had a hard time with, being inside the heads of these poor kids before they’re murdered by a mentally ill pedophile. Oh yeah, so on top of kids being murdered, there was also a pedophile ring that was making and distributing kiddy porn. And also being pedophiles and grooming kids.

This just had so many things that are no-goes for me. I think it might have been slightly better if it hadn’t had the omniscient POV, but it was just all so terrible.

I’m giving it 2 stars because the writing is good, as I’ve come to expect from Gibney, but the content was just a big NOPE for me.
