Aiden Beaumont is seen (by the small beach town of Shell Groves) as the Evil Emperor. By buying land and expanding his company within this small town, this handsome CEO had some residents despising him and other’s enjoying the business his company brought to their little shops. Mia, being the Shell Grove’s sweetheart, only radiated positivity and wanted her town to see what great opportunities Aiden’s company can bring to them, even though she wanted to see if her grumpy boss had more facial expressions to offer besides scowling. But after a while, even his frowning, lit her up like fireworks, making Mia fall for him even though she had plenty of reasons not to.

Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine

There were so many things I enjoyed about this book! The banter between Aiden & Mia. The realistic way their relationship played out.

The relationship Mia and Maggie have, was so freakin amazing & wholesome 🥺! I mean that scene that mentions them watching Bridgerton together?! That’s exactly how I spend my evening, talking about Anthony & Kate with my bestie!

all the friendships mentioned in the book, really painted the story of a small town with an amazing group of close knit friends. I loved that and I loved wanting to guess who the next book couples are going to be in this series.

There were some scenes in where I was like “really, Aiden?! Mia should definitely slap you for that!”

& some where I was like 🥵 “my, my Mr. Beaumont” (in a southern accent while clutching my pearls, of course)

I’m not really into the Insta-love trope but the way it was written didn’t make it seem like it was insta love for me. Yes they both outright thought the other was attractive but didn’t right away express those feelings to each other and that’s what I liked about it.

Literally only reason why it’s not a 5 ⭐️ for me is because there was no epilogue. Don’t get me wrong, the ending was great. I’m just a sucker for an epilogue that’s YEARS into their future together. But maybe we’ll get glimpses of them over the next books in this series.

I already can’t wait!

“I want Solomon Burke in the kitchen with you, honey.” He rasped softly

I read this on the way back from the beach and it fit the vibes perfectly! Aiden and Mia give off perfect grumpy x sunshine energy. The only reason it’s not a 5 star read is because it’s in 3rd person. I can never focus on a book when it’s in that perspective.

First off let me start by saying thank you to Melanie Munton, and the publishers for this book!

Reasons Why is a sweet grumpy/sunshine workplace romance between a boss and employee. This novel starts off with Mia, a twenty six year old woman who is trying to figure out what to do with her life as she bounces from job to job without finding one that makes her truly happy. That is until she begins working at Sapphire, the new resort in hometown, where she meets the grumpy but delicious Aiden. Her boss and from the moment they meet sparks fly! There was so much to love about this novel, it’s the perfect summer time romance. While the connection between Mia and Aiden is instant, it does not feel forced. Their chemistry is real and flys right off the page. I also loved Mia and Aidens lovable band of friend, family, and hometown characters. This whole story was an awesome start to my summer reading! And I can’t wait to see more from this author.

My only critique would be that in the format I got for my kindle, the way it downloaded was a bit choppy. Almost all the letters at the beginning of the chapters were cut off, and some of the spacing between paragraphs as well as spacing in the sentences was off and would mess up the flow of the story while I was reading. I completely understand though that these formatting errors could simply be caused by the way it downloaded through kindle, and did not take away from the story as a whole.

this is the PERFECT book to kick off your summer reading!! i loved aiden and mia's grumpy guy, sunshine girl dynamic so much and the insta-love trope MADE this book such a page-turner. every part of me wishes i got to read this book while sitting on the beaches of Shell Grove, SC and honestly the fact that i can't live there IRL pains me. i can't wait for the rest of this series!!

This book is so weird and funny! The weird part comes from the characters in the tiny town of shell grove and maybe Aidan and his weird mannerisms. I loved Aidan being obsessed with Mia and trying to ignore or deny it! It made the story so much funnier and more interesting.

Mia was my favorite character. She was sassy and opinated and totally willing to stand up for herself and others without putting them down. The sparks flying between them were enough to start a forest fire. I spent most of the first half of the book but waiting to figure out when they were going to finally get together, and that first kiss did not disappoint!

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I had not read anything by this author before, so when I had the opportunity to start a new series I took it. This lovely story is set in the seaside town of Shell Grove, where the community is divided. Those who want to see their beautiful coastal town remain boutique, and the ones who benefit from Emerald Shoals Properties coming and developing a fancy new resort in the town, bringing in tourism and providing jobs.

Mia Sparks is part of the latter, although she can see the other side's point of view - in fact, Mia is so compassionate and sympathetic, that she often does other people's work as well as her own. This does not escape the notice of the CEO, Aiden Beaumont, who tries to fight his immediate attraction to Mia (because .. staff member) to no avail.

Plenty of sparks fly, the couple have a lot of chemistry, and this book sets a good tone for those that will follow. I'm looking forward to reading more.

This is a great grumpy/ sunshine story that I read in one sitting. A nice light steamy read that’ll keep you swooning for the hero.

A sweet but steamy, easy read! Mia and Aiden had great chemistry and I loved their relationship. I also love the dual pov, which I always feel makes the book more relatable. This was such a charming book that I really enjoyed reading! I look forward to reading more from Melanie Munton. This should definitely be on your summer reading list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Melanie Munton for this arc!

Ok so maybe it's because I'm coming off reading two 5* reads back-to-back, but this book was a bit underwhelming for me.
I loved the humor, and the band of friends. Unfortunately I found myself skimming parts of it. Still, a nice read, but not something that I will remember.

Thank you to the publisher and author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I honestly do not have enough good things to say about this book!

From Mia and Aiden's chemistry to the town of Shell Grove, everything in Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO was simply delightful.

I loved Aiden's inner dialogue and the man is a MASTER at dirty thoughts/talk. He's a total swoon-worthy book boyfriend.

This book is a great mix of enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine with more than a few laugh out loud moments.

Thank you to Melanie Minton & NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title before publishing!

This story had some potential: great setting, sun premise, the beachy vibes I was searching for, just the right amount of spice. However, I definitely had a lot of problems that I don’t want to ignore.

The first things that rubbed me the wrong way were the way people of color are discussed here. Multiple times, we have a woman with darker olive skin described as “exotic” in an attempt to speak nicely of her, but what is accomplished is fetishizing her. This is something that’s discussed so often nowadays in anti-racist education, and it was frustrating to see it here multiple times. There is also only one Black woman mentioned, and she is called “Beyoncé” as a joke, and then… seems to have never been mentioned again. I shouldn’t have to say what’s wrong with this.

I tried to go on and enjoy other aspects of this story. Mia is a really delightful character and her relationship with Maggie is fun to read. Aiden, while broody and attractive at times, was ultimately really frustrating to me in all of his internal ramblings about who he decided Mia was as a person, even before he knows much about her at all. This became worse at the end with the blatant miscommunication trope that just felt SO forced and nonsensical, not to mention very rushed.

This was an easy book to read fast, and the banter is witty, and steamy scenes are pretty decently done. I just think that ultimately I had too many problems with this to enjoy it overall.

What a cute story! I love the enemies to lovers trope as well as office romance and this one did a great job at both. Strong writing and great characters made this a fun read!

This is a must add to your summer reading list.

This book is a mix of grumpy/sunshine, office romance, with a few crazy fun situations thrown into the mix. Oh yes, and the steamy parts have some steam let me tell you. Its a small town setting but with the real feel of a family of friends/ community. I loved Aiden's character and felt that having a dual POV for this story made both characters more relatable and jump off the page. Now with Mia I was in stitches, I worked in the resort business for over 15 yrs and the scene at the start of the book I have had to do more than a couple times in my life. I was rolling with laughter and memories at so many of the situations in this story. I will be telling everyone to add this to their summer vacation reading list.

Fingers crossed, I need a Maggie and Finn story because they also jumped off the page every time they were together.

After finishing this cute little gem of a book, I am dreaming of small town beach life. Reasons Why Not to Date Public Enemy CEO is the first in the Shell Grove series, and a perfect summer read!

Aidan and Mia complimented each other so well, and I’m always a sucker for a grumpy/sunshine romance. Aiden, the CEO of the company that Mia works for, has always been focused on his career and didn’t view himself as someone deserving of love. Mia has finally found a job where she can make other people happy, and she shines right through Aiden’s grumpy facade.

I loved the characters and the small town setting. There were so many characters introduced at the beginning, but after a few chapters of figuring out who everyone was, they became the perfect friend/family group you want to read more about. I can’t wait for other characters to get their own story told!

If you’re looking for a light, steamy, beach read, look no further!
