I had to DNF around the 15% mark. It was a huge “it’s not you it’s me” type of deal. I couldn’t get behind the style of writing and the fourth wall breaks. I mean if executed well it could’ve been great but unfortunately it was lacking. Also there was a lot of telling instead of showing and it didn’t work in its favor.

This book has a lot going on. It is full speed ahead and doesn't slow down one bit. I did have a hard time in some areas, holding my attention as the scene was sooo descriptive I would skip over it.

The story is told from both of the main characters POV. Some people don't care for that style writing, but I enjoy that. In this book however, the different POV's seemed to blend together in a confusing manner, where I could decipher between them.

This book has a lot of action in it and was very enjoyable. There is love, smut and danger. I went in reading this thinking it was a cozy read, only to find out it was full of hot dirtiness. Now I love smut just as much as the next person, but these parts are where the descriptions become longwinded and overkill.

Overall I loved the story and would read the next one in the series. It was well thought out and the plot was detailed and laid out well. The characters are interesting and quirky. I give it a 4 star rating due to some of the small issues I have outlined in my review, but would recommend it to others.

this book actually deeply angered me. it started off with “hi *waves*” and i almost immediately closed the book, very unserious behavior. this book talks you as the audience and i wasn’t aware i was 12 again. i think it was very cheesy and shouldn’t be in an adult romance book. everything about this book is just corny and doesn’t feel adult at all. this book felt like i was reading a ya book that wanted so badly to be an adult. as if the author is 17 and wrote what she thought adults interacts like. also just incase i don’t say this enough…the writing style is atrocious to say the least. the double agent plotline was literally useless being ass we never got to see who he was working for and in general i didn’t care for the romance, it was very bland.

I loved the premise of this and truly enjoy a witchy romance especially in the fall, however the writing left something to be desired for me. The overuse of curse words felt lazy (coming from me, the ultimate potty mouth, is saying something).

There were also a lot of inconsistencies in the character descriptions because they changed as the book went on so it needs some further edits.

I hope in future books that there will be more attention given to world building because the atmosphere could be SO cool.

While the setup for the book held great appeal for me, I found myself less than enthused about the book the more I read. Tilda comes across as chaotic and rambly, and the first chapter almost put me off the book entirely with her repetitive grumblings about being without magic. Gil's chapters seem sedate in comparison, though he's regularly bristling with grumpiness or anger or lust. While there were some interesting side characters, most of the character development felt superficial and even stereotypical.

There was a whole lot going on in the book, including a heist that was planned altogether too quickly, and it felt rushed all the way through. Fun ideas, meh execution. Intriguing set-up for the next book, not sure I want to subject myself to this again. 2 stars.

I really really enjoyed this book! It added some lighthearted fun for my spooky tbr. Now I don't mean this negatively, but it gave me wattpad feels IN THE BEST WAY. I forgot how much I miss first person POV where the MC interacts with the reader. It just made me giggle me more. Sometimes I like a romcom with a little plot and easy world building for my brain. And now I can't wait for book two to see Erik and Lele. Something tells me it's going to be a fun one. Tilda felt extremely relatable to me as someone who is the introverted klutzy firecracker. It definitely keeps my boyfriend on his toes the same way Gil is constantly having to save her. This was a chaotic witchy romcom and I loved it!

At the moment I'm giving it 3 stars and that's only because I believe the book needs to go through another round of edits. I think this book has potential to be 4-5 depending on readers. I will reread the book again once it's published to see if changes were made and hopefully bump it up to a 4!

I looooooved this book. It had everything I was looking for - magic, spice, adorable characters, and lots of humor and sass. Tilda was the perfectly imperfect character that I loved reading about (and I actually really love when the character will talk in aside to the readers). She is quite strong and smart but sees herself as a clumsy mess, so I loved seeing her come more into herself and her confidence. Gil seemed like an ass, but as we got to know him I loved seeing his true self shine through. Their chemistry was immediate and the steam was STEAMY and amazing. The storyline flowed well and I never really wanted to put it down between the magic, the drama and the romance. Plus there are some great side characters and a HEIST. I cannot gush enough, I loved this book and cannot wait for more!

I've been a big fan of Avery Flynn's writing for awhile & this is a fun new direction into the magical world of witchery while keeping her classic RomCom storyline. Lots of details in this story & although the dialog is funny, it kinda gets lost in the background details that Avery uses to set a scene.
Another great book from Avery & I for one am very excited to keep reading the next story in the Witchingdom series!

This one was okay for me, I didn’t love it but it was a cute witchy romance! The characters felt immature and I didn’t really care for the writing style. The world and plot are very cool though, I would still recommend giving it a try, you may love it!

Witcha gonna do is a very fun, quirky and unique story full of cozy atmosphere and lots of personality. It follows Matilda an unlucky, magic-less witch from a very renowned witchy family as she keeps getting set up on blind dates with her worst enemy Gil Connolly. THREE SEPARATE TIMES. What are the odds?? Things only get worse when she accidentally messes up her sister's spell and curses her entire family...and who is the only person able to help clean up the mess? You guessed it, Gil Connolly! I am so sad that it is only getting three stars from me, but I just think this book found me at the wrong time. For whatever reason, I just couldn't get into the story as much as I would've liked and felt kind of lost throughout. It just couldn't keep my attention and for that reason it is only an average for me. I was approved for an arc of this book, and it comes out this December, so it is definitely a book I will be picking up. I think this novel definitely deserves a second chance, hopefully when I'm in the right headspace to actually enjoy it. Tilda and Gil are both such wonderful and complex characters with so much personality they actually feel like they are jumping off the page. I can't wait to meet them again when the time is right.

I really wanted to enjoy because that premise? Chef kiss! BUT holy hell did this drag out unnecessarily long- there was a lot of telling and not showing and it made the book feel much longer than it actually was. Not to mention that annoying fourth-wall break. I don’t typically mind them, but I think here, it didn’t make sense within the story and it routinely took me out of it.

I was more than halfway through before we got a sex scene, which is FINE but there was so much buildup to it that I really thought we’d go all the way yet they ended up being interrupted and it was like “really!!?” There was also that scene on the wall…like ma’am please look up how physics works because it did not exist in that scene.

In all, I really wanted to enjoy it but I was just so bored and could not wait for it to be over.

It feels like this book could use more editing to really be exciting. The story idea is great and the first few chapters pulled me in, but then the story fell flat. It seemed to lose its purpose or direction and just fanned out all over the place, and it somehow moved both too fast and too slow. At times the reader was just bombarded with information all at once, but then other situations felt like they were completely missing context or explanation. I absolutely adore a witchy/paranormal romance and Witcha Gonna Do, was such a lovely read. A must have for fans of 90's romcoms, rivals who are secretly pining, and magic. Unlikely match between a know-it-all with hot professor vibes and the youngest witch in the most powerful magic family, who to her knowledge has no magic of her own. Sparks fly and secrets are revealed, and our MC must find the truth of what she is and what she feels. I crushed this book in one sitting, and I think you may too.

This was such a cute, witchy romance! I love the coziness of contemporary fantasy romances, especially ones dealing with witches, and Avery Flynn delivered. The chemistry between Gil and Tilda was also off the charts! The heat in this novel was scorching, and balanced well with the charm and magic of the novel. I do wish we got a little more of an inside look at Gil and Tilda's relationship, though, before the novel started because their relationship did feel a little insta-lusty, At times, the explanations of the world and magic system confused me, but overall it was a very enjoyable read. I'm excited to read Avery Flynn's other works next.

I have mixed thoughts on this one. I was promised a witchy romance and on that front it definitely delivered. However I didn’t like Gil’s POV. It took all the mystery away. I didn’t get really get the opportunity to to develop theories or anything regarding what was happening because as soon as I got to a Gil POV it would flat out state what the answer was.

There’s probably a lot of readers who wouldn’t mind the Gil POVs at all, but it did lessen the enjoyment for me. If your fine with there being no mystery to the book, then I think you would probably enjoy this. It’s a cute, witchy romance.

Didn't love this one as much as I thought I was going to. It didn't hold my interest easily and I felt like I had to work hard to finish it!

I really wanted to like to magical romance, but sadly it fell flat for me.

The world building felt stilted- some things worked, and others fell flat. I didn't connect with the main characters or their families, and the chemistry felt forced.

I love this author, but I pass on this book.

This was the strangest book, and I mean that in a good way. It involved world building and weird creatures, but again in a good way. I enjoy this author, and I really liked the book. That being said, the story itself left a lot to be desired.

Witcha Gonna Do? was a very cute story. It was also super funny. The characters were so different and I loved them together. The pacing was super quick and I was able to read this in an afternoon.
