A pro women's soccer player, Erika falls for a wealthy tech CEO after proposing a marriage of convenience in order for her to take advantage of his health care coverage in exchange for helping make his dying grandmother happy.

I really enjoyed this dual POV sports romance featuring a bisexual athlete hiding her recent rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. The chronic pain and illness rep was excellent and the slow burn friends to lovers relationship between the two MCs was utterly swoony.

Great on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Chloe Liese, Madison Wright or Molly McCarthy. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I always love a good sports romance and I loved Scoring a Spouse. I haven't read anything from Liz Lincoln before and I enjoyed her writing style. I love the interactions between all the characters. Definitely reading again

Unfortunately, When I finally went to read this I couldn’t find my download for it and it’s obviously way past archive date. Thanks for the opportunity to review!

God, this book was slow. As much as I wanted to finish it, it took me over a month to get to 65% and by this point I’m exhausted. So, unfortunately I have to DNF this book.

I wish this book went through more editing because the plot could have been really interesting if it had been more developed. In the form that I got, this book had too many plots that were abandoned or skimmed over. Also, for the love of all the gods in the universe, please cut out the fourth-wall break during sex scenes. Why was that even there?!

Anyway, I am quite sad as I was hoping I would love this book but, as you probably realised, I didn’t. Thank you NetGalley for this arc.

3.75 stars!

As someone who has recently gotten into soccer, this book really excited me! I loved all of the soccer talk, and especially appreciated both the bisexual and disability representation from our main character, Erika. I thought that Erika and Nate had great chemistry, but it kinda lost me towards the middle as I didn't feel like anything was happening.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I have to say I enjoyed this one. Though it made me cry. As I've been in the heroines shoes so to speak. Now it wasn't as a professional soccer player. But it was as a high school soccer player who's dreams of playing college soccer that was dashed with the the diagnoses of Rheumatoid Arthritis at 16. So Erika's thoughts and feelings were easy to relate too and understand. Other readers most likely won't get as emotional over this book as I did unless they can relate the same way. But it was still a good read. I glad I kept tissues handy.

I really enjoyed this marriage of convenience sports romance. I loved the bi rep, the chronic illness rep, and the sense of found family between Erika and her soccer teammates as well as Nate and his coworkers.

Both main characters were wonderful and they had amazing chemistry with each other right from the start. I really enjoyed watching their relationship build to something real. The steamy moments in this book were just right in my opinion.

I look forward to reading more books within this series and I sincerely hope that Erika and Nate make appearances in those books because I want more of the two of them!

I would highly recommend this one to fans of sports romance and any fans of fake dating of any kind.

Marriage of Convenience is up there with my fave tropes and I absolutely adore it. This was a sweet read and would definitely recommend.

This was a very enjoyable read. Although the characters decided to get married very early on (they only knew each other for one night!!!), the reasons for the marriage of convenience were believable. The building of the romance was natural and cute to see, the only thing I didn't like was Erika telling Nate she loved him through text. Their little moments before they realized they were in love were really sweet.

Nate's relationship with his grandma was beautiful, I was really sad when she finally passed. It was also sweet to see that Erika formed a bond with her as well.

Overall, it's a sweet book, with good relationship development and a cute ending. It was great to read it now as the Men's World Cup starts, to get in the mood. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to enjoy this one as the premise sounds amazing however I ended up dnf-ing it.

I just could not get into this story and I really struggled with these characters.

I definitely feel like I'm the odd one out when it comes to this book!

I'm so sorry!

4.5/5 Stars!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC for this book!

Scoring a Spouse is a marriage-of-convenience, slow-burn, sports romance!!
Erica is Parker-Ward is at the peak of her career, being one of the best forwards for both her NWSL team and the US National Team. She was living her dream when her diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis threatened to take it all away. To maintain her position on her teams, she decided to keep everything a secret however, that slowly starts to backfire when her medical costs start to accumulate and she could no longer afford her private medical care.

Nate Simmons is a very successful tech exec who believes he owes everything to his grandmother, Oma, who had raised him. So when her dying wish is to see him happy, in-love, and married, he is ready to anything.

When Erica and Nate meet at a bar, their attraction is undeniable and they end up confiding in each other about their issues, and at the end of the night its Erica, that decides to get married to solve both of their issues. Erica gets his health insurance and Nate makes his Oma happy. Its strictly business. But we all know they cannot just ignore their attraction for each other!

This was such an adorable story that had some of my favorite tropes: Marriage-of-convivence, found-family/friends, sports romance! Its was so freaking adorable. This sports romance in particular has a special place in my heart because I really related to the FMC when it came to playing a sport (specifically soccer) with an autoimmune disease. Erica was so determined and hardworking and I loved reading about her. BUTT! Nate was my favorite character. He was literally perfect in every way. He was such a good man you could literally feel his goodness when reading about him. He was so understanding, compassionate, loving, smart, mature. There are literally not enough words I could use to describe him!!! He literally did and would do anything for Erica! Without being asked!!!!! what a man. Don't get me started on his relationship with his Oma!!

Their chemistry was passionate yet adorable. The simplest of moments between both characters were so adorable, and honestly my favorite parts of the book. The only thing that frustrated me a little bit was the fact that Nate gave so much and I felt like Erica could have cared a little bit more.

This was such a fun modern marriage of convenience. Nate is a fan of Erika, a professional soccer player and just happens to meet her at a bar. They go out for some dessert and end up getting married so she can get his health insurance and he can get married before his grandma passes away. I loved seeing chronic illness rep although I can’t vouch for its authenticity. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and would definitely recommend this book.

This book was so cute. I loved the intense chemistry between Nate and Erika, but the slow-burn of their actual relationship. It had a good balance of soccer vs non-soccer scenes, some really sweet moments with their family (both blood and found family), and really excellent steamy scenes. I also love Donut the dog and wish they were included on the cover. I also really loved MIlwaukee as the setting- it is a highly underrated Midwestern City and it was nice to see it be appreciated throughout the story.
This was my first book by Liz Lincoln and I will definitely be on the lookout for the next story in this series!

An amazing romance novel where women's soccer plays front and center (and expertly written!!!!) and does the "marriage of convivence" trope in the modern day wonderfully!

This was a cute sports romance that I was interested in for the disability representation, and it didn't disappoint. I think this will be a wonderful romance for people who want to see different perspectives represented and enjoy a charming relationship.

A huge thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing me a copy of the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! I picked it up particularly because I'm going through a similar situation as Erika. Not a professional soccer player, lol, but having to realize that I have arthritis and that it's affecting my career, not knowing how to disclose, how best to treat my symptoms yet, or how much to adapt my career and daily life —and also once again being faced with how expensive medical costs are. (Yes I would totally sign up for a marriage of convenience right about now!)

This book brought me comfort, and joy, and alll the Romance magic I want from a love story.

♥ Erika has two supportive loving adorable cool moms!
♥ We get all the sports romance goodness: away games, massages from him after tiring training sessions, flying to be at your big championship games.
♥ I loved the rep - everything from descriptions of pain to internal worries and realizing your new limitations. And it never felt overwhelmingly bleak.
♥ It's got all the rich husband shiny things, the 'everything's at your feet now, just ask' gold we love in a marriage of convenience trope. And the domesticity of living together and coming home to you every night.

Content warnings: A big part of the plot is about a grandparent dying, and we go through that all in this book. So, grandparent (who was basically a parent) death, and allll the emotions that come with that. Also just beware that arthritis symptoms obvs play a big role in this plot. So does her managing those symptoms, and when her injections are found, he immediately assumes it's steroids, painkillers, possibly heroin and has all the worried thoughts that come with that.

Nice book it was okay read but I did like the romance. Still something to check out though and I liked what I read at least.

This book was slow. I read like 50 pages and it still felt like the plot was being built. Along with that, it seemed that the FMC had literally no plan moving forwards and was really just so tired that it ended up rubbing off on me and I just felt tired. I didn't get far enough to have much of an interesting interaction with the MMC so I can't comment on that. It just didn't pull me in.
