THE REVIEW
After Nash MacKeefe and his friends cause a ruckus in the tavern, Cam and Gavin have completed their punishments and now it is Nash’s turn. He is to visit a neighboring clan, clan MacKenzie, to repair roofs after they sustained a raid from an enemy clan. Nash is also to marry the Chieftain’s niece to secure an alliance.

Clan MacKenzie was just devastated by the attack from the Sutherland Clan. Her aunt and cousins, the Chieftans wife and daughters, were killed in the raid, crops destroyed, homes burned and livestock taken. Kellina is the niece of the Chieftan and an excellent swordsman; she helped against the attack.

It’s always been understood that Nash’s parents were killed by the MacKenzies and that Kellina’s parents were killed by MacKeefe’s so when they were forced to marry, they (especially Kellina) brought a lot of anger and desire for revenge to the marriage. The book is about them trying to get past the anger and get to know each other. Some secrets are revealed that bring to light the real reason both their parents died and it actually unites them! This book the in the series was probably the best one in my opinion. It wasn’t as cheesy as the others in the series and a little more action.

Highland Romance with Humor

His punishment is to help a lass thatch roofs. That’s surely a cruel punishment for a warrior, but could it be the best thing for his soul? Nash and Kellina do not start out on the right foot. They must marry to forge an alliance, but both are reluctant. How can she want to kill and kiss him all at once, and will she be able to come to terms with her feelings? Something happened years ago to make her want to kill those from his clan. What did happen, and will Nash and Kellina be able to resolve their differences so that they can find happiness? This highland story has humor, adventure, secrets, and romance. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to those who like Scottish historical love stories.

Highland Sky is book three in the Highland Outcasts Series. This story brings back all previously introduced characters; However it is Nash’s turn to complete his “task” in order to be allowed back into Clan MacKeefe. Old Callum sends Nash & his twin brother North to help a neighboring clan recover after being attacked by the Sutherland’s. The clan Nash and North are heading to is the MacKenzie’s - a clan that holds a serious grudge against the MacKeefe’s - not to mention a previous conflict between the clans that resulted in the death of several people from both clans. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Nash believes all he has to do is help the MacKenzie clan recover, he should have guessed Old Callum had a trick or two up his sleeve. An alliance between the MacKeefe’s and the MacKenzie’s has been contracted and will be sealed with Nash marrying the niece of the MacKenzie Laird, Kellina. 😉

The question is can these two ever find happiness when there is so much anger and hate between their clans?

Although I enjoyed the premise of the story and usually love enemies to lovers I felt like this book lacked in the romance aspect. Additionally, Kellina really got on my nerves and I didn’t like the way she flip-flopped from one conviction to another, like night and day. This may have been better if the “relationship” aspect of the story wasn’t skimmed over.

Overall a good story - 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 3 Flames 🔥🔥🔥

An amazing romantic story. Will these two end up together. There’s troubles ahead and who knows if they’ll end up with each other. Enjoyable characters.

Rating: 2 - 2.5 stars

Unfortunately, I found the whiplash interactions between this main couple exhausting. Along with them individually, as well. Even when they started to get along around 65 percent into it. That is saying something, because I am a very patient person, IMHO.

Kellina was killing me here with her constant rants and not thinking before she spoke backtalk (even with the Laird of her clan in front of other people). She seemed to always be outraged about something, then overly dazed and confused the next, especially when it came to the marriage bed. Lawdy! I got tired of that topic and term! If it was mentioned one more time by this entire book's cast of characters, I think I was the one about to lose it. I wouldn't know after 70% percent though, because that is when I threw my hands up high in the sky and gave up. The bizarre, OTT, so made up it felt overly contrived deathbed reveal of what really happened to both this main couple's parents was truly the last straw. It was a "Give me a break, moment".. and I'm not taking about a KitKat bar one.

Even Nash, despite his attempt to do the right thing, had me nashing my teeth and bowing my head in disbelief regarding his inability to express himself, without looking for someone else (aka his brother) for the right words or guidance.

At only 254 pages, I was tempted to force myself to finish the last 30 percent. But really there wasn't a point. I'm sure things worked out in the end. Good for them.

Title: Highland Sky, Series: Highland Outcasts (Book 3), Author: Elizabeth Rose, Pages: 254, stand-alone but part of series, virgin heroine, boastful good guy hero, weird reveal regarding the past, some very graphic smex content, marriage of alliance.

Book 1 - Highland Soul
Book 2 - Highland Flame
Book 3 - Highland Sky
Book 4 - Highland Silver

What a outstanding story! Riveting and Suspenseful! I thoroughly enjoy when a book grips you right from the start and takes you on a heart-stopping, sigh worthy journey as in Highland Sky. Kellina and Nash's story unfolds from beginning to end with threads of intrigue, secrets, deceit, a dark secret that could destroy several peoples lives. The story brings back the characters who found a place in your heart but, haven't visited with for a while. Elizabeth Rose has written a story that's filled with characters that weave a story that will hold you attention as their individual personalities become more than just part of the tale they come off the pages and pull you in, with passion, humerous banter and the plot brims with tension building twists and turns. With setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid that brings this story to life.

I liked the story very much. Nash and Kellinia are a cute couple that definitely should stay together. I think that they do well without the involvement of family, but it’s Nash’s family I found was hard to convince. I enjoyed the excitement from the entertainment in the action scenes. I loved that Kellinia’s character was written as a smart independent heroine that definitely knows how to swing a sword. The story is easy to read which was a plus for me.

This is the third installment of what is a very captivating series, Highland Outcasts. Each book of the series focuses on a highland hero who has misbehaved in some way and is issued a punishment and they serve their time in the form of some type of community service. This time it's Nash MacKeefe's turn as he accidentally sets the Horn and Hoof Tavern on fire while being a bit too boastful. If he ever wants to be accepted by his clan again, he must pay his assigned penance of assisting the MacKenzie clan repair damage cause by an enemy clan's raid. While there, he meets Kellina who is devastated and angry at the damage caused by the other clan. Nash is captivated by her, but Kellina wants nothing to do with him. But she soon realizes she needs to be more friendly with him if her clan is to get the help they need. As they spend more time together, a lovely romance blossoms between them. With a strong and confident heroine and swoon-worthy hero, this latest addition will definitely keep you engaged till the end. A delightful addition to the series!

This is the third book in the Highland Outcast Series. Nash MacKeefe accidentally sets fire to Old Callum MacKeefe's tavern ceiling. Now it is Nash's turn to accept his punishment to be allowed back in the clan. Nash, along ith his twin brothr, North, head to the Mackenzie stronghold to help repair and rehatch the roofs of the cottages destroyed during a Sunderland attack.
I enjoyed Nash and Kelina's story. There was humor, misunderstandings, secrets, romance, and past hurts for both Nash and Kelina to overcome.
I am looking forward to reading North's story next.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. Highland Sky is about the clans McKenzies and Mackeefe who through Nash, who becomes an outcast of the Mackeefe clan, who are his family until Old Callum Mackeefe, the oldest member of the Mackeefe clan and maker of the famous Mountain Magic, decides to punish Nash by sending him to the Mackenzie clan to marry Cierien Mackenzie's niece Kellina. Both Nash and Kellina are opposed to the idea but Laird Storm Mackeefe wants to form an alliance with the Mackenzies. Both Nash and Kellina believe the other clan responsible for their parents deaths so things don't start out on a good footing in their marriage. But when the Mackenzie's are attacked by another clan, Kellina uncovers a family secret that could tear the whole clan apart and jeopardize the new alliance with the new Mackeefes.
I very much liked this book because there was alot of suspense in it and I really liked the battle scenes. I was familiar with Ms.Rose since I have been reviewing her books for a long time so I knew what to expect and Highland Sky did not disappoint. It was exciting, had memorable and strong characters, and alot of action. I would rate it more than 5 stars if I could.

Highland Sky, book 3. I love it and can't wait til the 4th. Punishment has made great premise for this series. A must read seeies.
While Nash and his friends over celebrated they brake several of the Old Callum’s Tavern rules, including starting a fire and even throwing up on Callum’s boots.
Nash gets his punishment and a wife he did not want.
Kellina hates Nash and his entire clan, she's a bit immature.
Is old Man Callum a match maker?

I've only read one other title by this author, one I did not enjoy. Hoping it was a one-off, I decided to give this author another try. Still not a fan. I'm all for a flawed hero, but these heroes are cavemen in kilts. Neither character is likeable--they hate each other. Then boom, they're in love, and both characters have suddenly evolved. Okay, sure. I did like who they became and enjoyed some moments of humor; however, I don't think that I'll be picking up another book by this author.

Nash

You don’t break Callum MacKeefe rules owner of the local tavern now both Gavin and Cam have paid for their punishments. The lucky rascals found love doing their time! Now it was Nash’s turn as he accidentally set the Horn and Hoof Tavern on fire for being a bit too boastful. As one of old Callum’s rules is never damage anything in his lovely tavern. Well Nash did exactly the opposite and now must pay the price if he ever want to come back into the clan again!

Well now it was Nash MacKeefe turn to pay the price. He is to help repair damage to Clan MacKenzie that had been burned by the Sutherland clan, their enemy in a horrific raid. Now for Nash he feels this work is beneath him as he is a proud warrior to him this is peasants work. Yet he has no choice if he wants to be accepted by the MacKeefe clan ever again.

He suddenly meets a woman that looks like she would like to murder him in his sleep. The problem is he would like to kiss her and do other pleasurable things.

Kellina is broken hearted when her clan’s crop and homes are burned by an the Sutherlands in a raid! She helps her uncle as thatching is in her blood since she was taught how to do this at a very young age. When she first meets this highlander all his vanity and conceit makes her want to vomit her breakfast. She soon learns what he’s really about and he is exactly what her clan needs she realizes! It will help bring back the spirit and morale which is exactly what her clan needs. It was better to be friends then enemies she soon finds out and maybe more.

Another hilarious and lovely story in this third book in the Highland Outcasts story. It has all the elements that Scottish historical readers will get swept away in with a swoon worthy hero. A book I highly recommend from start to finish with a breathtaking setting, fast moving plot, unforgettable characters and brilliant dialogue! You couldn’t ask for more.

Spoiler alert:
Scottish Highlander man causes trouble and has to work off his sins with a Scottish form of "community service", an alliance wedding with another clan. Of course the hero has to work hard. Of course the hero has a posse that goes with him everywhere because they all promised to help each other. Of course the hero and heroine have never met and dislike each other on sight. Of course the heroine has a non traditional job and dresses in a non traditional manner to reinforce that she is unusual.
I am sorry, I just found this story to be like an alegrabraic equation where there are numbers and letters and instead of solving for "x" or "y", the reader had to solve for "love".
One good thing is that the hero is only 24 years old, so he is not some grizzled 32 year old bachelor that screws any female in sight. I really hate those Scottish romances. That age gap kind of almost saves this story. But the rest of the story just seems to be the same as the others. And this has to be a series because the members of the posse and every married couple came from a previous book in the series.
I want to read the Scottish romance where the average young lady is setting up a stall at a fair and see a youngish man who catches her eye, but she is attracted to the shorter man, who isn't super tall and large, but just average. Why does that never happen? Why cant a pretty lady fall for an attractive man? Why do all the heroes and heroines have to be the prettiest, tallest, brawniest, or bonniest?
This heroine is a thatcher and has to teach the hero how to help her because her clan was attacked and the thach roofed cottages were all burnt. The hero has to help her because him and his posse partied too much and burnt part of the local tavern. So the laird's grandfather, who one the tavern, contracts the alliance wedding and he gets another member of the posse married off. His goal is for them all to be married so they are too busy to party to the point where they set fires (by accident).
I give it 2 stars and recommend reading if you are already invested in this series.

It is absolutely brilliant. The emotions, the banter, the love, the chemistry - it all just works! I am in love!.

Ms Rose does a great job of grabbing your interest immediately. I really got angry at how the H/H had to marry. Made me realize I really don’t want to live in those times! But it a story filled with growth for both of them and the reason their parents died was a shock I didn’t see coming! At times I felt like the dialogue was a little stilted, like it was written by someone else, especially towards the end, but it is , all in all Avery good read!

I am loving this series. In this one Nash gets his punishment and a wife he did not want. Kellina gives him a really hard time. It seems they will never get along. They need to put away past family matters so they can finally fall in love.

Highland Sky by Elizabeth Rose is the third book of the Highland Outcasts. Nash MacKeefe accidentally set fire to the thatched ceiling of Old Callum MacKeefe’s Horn and Hoof Tavern. As punishment, he is sent to another clan to help thatch roofs after they were burned in an enemy raid. Kellina cannot stand the MacKeefes. When Nash shows up to help her thatch, she doesn’t want his help. When she discovers her chieftain uncle has arranged for her to marry Nash to form an alliance, she is furious.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Nash and Kellina were often stubborn, but I enjoyed them as a couple. I also loved the side characters, so I am excited to read the other books in the series.

At times I thought this was the best book in the series (so far) and at others that it was just okay. I loved Kellina from the beginning - she was tough and stood up for herself. I've liked Nash in the previous books but this was the first time I really got to learn anything about him. He and Kellina had a lot of fun interactions and their chemistry was set pretty early on. What I did not like about this book was that I found myself feeling bad for Kellina through a lot of it. She was never allowed to feel her feelings and was constantly being told she was selfish, even by people who barely knew her. For example, she's forced to marry someone she doesn't know, from a clan she has been brought up to think was responsible for the deaths of her parents, and when she gets angry about this and doesn't want to have to go through with the wedding night she's told if she doesn't she'll bring war and get everyone killed and it will be her fault. And to add to that when the rest of her clan returns home and finds out about all of this they basically call her a traitorous whore. She tries to talk to her sister at parts but all she wants to know is what it is like to have sex with a gorgeous man. One part I did like was when Nash tells Kellina that her clan killed his parents and then says he didn't tell her about that earlier because she never asked and she just tells him he could have brought it up himself - it basically showed that she was not going to be made to feel guilty for him not telling her something that important. I did not like the explanation for what really happened to their parents - it just didn't really make much sense and seemed too outrageous. And why did her uncle feel the need to tell her that last little bit (I won't say what exactly because I don't want to ruin anything). It was just really cruel. Overall, this was a very enjoyable book and a great addition to the series. I am anxiously waiting to find out what happens with North.
