Thank you NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada and the author Nelson De Mille.
I have enjoyed reading the John Corey series from the get go. Number 8 does not disappoint .
John Corey is a wise cracking person to the core, he loves danger and more often than not he’s the one that puts himself in the situation,
This novel is funny, fast paced and exactly what I needed
Highly recommend

The Maze by Nelson DeMille
Pub date: October 11, 2022

This is book number 8, in the John Corey series. This character is very sarcastic and has an interesting sense of humor. This is one of the major reasons why I enjoy this series.
This book did not have the same complex and fast-paced mystery as previous ones. I found the references to sex and women too much and not really necessary for the story. It seemed to be mainly used for filler.
This novel finds John Corey between jobs and on the verge of divorce. He reunited with his old flame Beth Penrose. I felt the ending was rushed and there were a lot of relationships and other items not fully explained.
Even though this is not my favorite John Corey book I will still anxiously await the next installment as the series is too good to drop.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

I've been a Nelson Demille fan since the early 1990s and was excited to read another John Corey, but the character is stale. He's still a sarcastic smart ass (in the best possible way), but I really didn't need a reference to his penis on what felt like every page. The cast of characters was too white and too able bodied especially for 2022. I know many of my customers will enjoy this book, but I'm not sure if I'll read him again.
