Now this was a fun read! A short story collection of super-heroes/villains set in various universes by a diverse set of authors. One of my favorites in this collection is "Summer of Lob" by Richard Roberts where we get how Bull ended up in L.A. Another is "Escape from Ironhyde" by Michael Suttkus that has a jailbreak gone a wee bit awry! I I need to check out more tales set in David Niall Wilson's Hoods and Donovan DeChance universes after reading "Hopscotch." But if you are looking for a fun time of seeing super-heroes get theirs, pick up Tales of Capes and Cowls and you will not be disappointed!

This book started out strong! Let me start out by saying, I was interested in this book because I love superheroes and superhero tales, I did not realize that my favorite superhero story author was the Editor.

That being said, what a pleasant surprise it was to find that he was not only the editor, but the first contributor to the collection! C.T. did not disappoint, all 9 stories climbed into the nerdy part of my brain and took me on a ride I wanted to go on. Being able to revisit Gary and the world of Merciless right out of the gate was a huge bonus!

In this book we are introduced to a gang of teenagers with unclear powers who operate like a well oiled machine to rescue children from a labyrinth. A superhero with a tech genius sister trapped in a computer after her physical body was destroyed. A villain who changes the world with their words, literally. So many great stories and concepts in this book!

I for one appreciated and would love to see more geeky superhero stories, especially when compiled by someone so obviously a fan of and leading author for the genre.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance review copy for free, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

PS - I did try to post this on Amazon and Goodreads, but was unable to do so. The book is not listed on Goodreads and I was told on Amazon when I tried that it is not available to be submitted there.
