The plot here is pretty basic and sparse, reliant upon a simple turn of expectation for the twist at the end. The illustrations are pretty rough but that lends them a sort of charm. And it is a book that can be understood largely without reading at all.

"Run" is an easy to read picture book about running from something. As you read and look at the pictures you don't know what the animals are running from but see them looking spooked and shocked. As the story goes on, you learn more about what will happen with the animals around.

I received an eARC from Netgalley and Owlkids Books in exchange for an honest review.
- This ARC's formatting differs from the published work and may have impacted my reading enjoyment.

This was a cute story, but I do feel that this is for REALLY really young children. It is just vibes. That's not a bad thing. I will reread once published so that I can get the full impact of the art (due to ARC formatting I had no idea what was going on with the art) There was a twist ending though... which was pretty cool.

This was a cute, very simple story. The pacing is great for building suspense and the end is a great payoff. The illustrations are great too and perfect for engaging little ones.
Thank you Netgalley and Owlkids Books for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Everybody run and hide! SOMETHING is coming!

This one has all the fun, quivery anticipation of "The Monster at the End of this Book: as the reader (and fidgety listener) eagerly await the arrival of the mysterious pursuer. Combine this with the brilliantly colored, punchy artwork, and you've got a book guaranteed to produce squeals of "Read it again!"
