This in-depth look at the sitcom comes out on October 11, 2022. Grand Central Publishing provided an early galley for review.

I am a proud fan of this television show. I watched it weekly from the airing of the first episode through the last and will still often sit down to a number of rerun episodes any time I come across it. As a lifelong geek/nerd/comic and fantasy and sci-fi reader/videogamer/tabletop RPG player/movie and TV obsessive, this show has always resonated with me. There are facets of Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and Howard in me. I don't see this show laughing at me; I see this show laughing with me. To me, it's funny because it is true.

I also love behind-the-scenes looks at things, and this book definitely delivers on that front. I enjoyed the origins of the show - from the idea stage to pilots (both of them). Everyone was very open to sharing their thoughts and motivations at the time. I enjoyed hearing the thought process behind the evolution as it moved from season to season, growing in its popularity. I also appreciated the details relating to the creation of Young Sheldon as well as comments from that cast.

The book did seem to rush through the latter seasons, especially the last two - focusing mostly just on the big episodes in each. I was actually okay with a lot of that since those two seasons were not really my favorites of the run. My sweet spot sits at seasons three through six.

This will be a must-read for fans of the show.

After putting it off for years, I finally binge-watched The Big Bang Theory in early 2021, quickly became hooked, and have been reading whatever I can about it ever since. 279 episodes and what was already said still wasn't enough for me. So as soon as I heard about this book, I knew it had to get my hands on it, and I'm so happy to say that it did not disappoint.

I consider myself well-versed in the show and its history, and there were still so many previously unheard stories and new fun facts in this book. It was an absolute joy to read all the interviews from the cast and crew, and to see all the behind-the-scenes photos as well. (Also, I lost track, but I got emotional and cried about Shamy at least five times while reading this.) I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who loves the show, or just loves sitcoms and TV history in general.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the advance reader copy!

If you are a fan of The Big Bang Theory and enjoy learning how the sausage is made, so to speak, in sitcoms, then this book is for you!. Radloff scored several hours of interviews from the cast and crew to walk down memory lane on one of the biggest sitcoms of all time. Frankly, I was surprised at how generous the cast and crew were with participating in this book. The camaraderie between the cast members, in particular, was reflected in the pages. There were also a few moments where it almost felt therapeutic for the cast and crew to reflect on their experiences.

I am that nerd that enjoys reading about the "behind the scenes" or "oral history" of some of my favorites shows/movies, and what I really enjoyed about this book was the nice balance of personal stories from cast and crew, inside business happenings, and alternative storylines and "what if's" that I didn't know before picking this gem of a book up.

I should start by disclosing that I am biased. First, I am a fan of the show. Second, I love a good how it happened.

The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series by Jessica Radloff tells the story of the hit television show conversationally. The author was treated to long conversations with the cast, production/crew, and guest stars who narrate the story of Television's longest-running multi-camera sitcom more or less chronologically. The author's evident rapport with her subjects, her enjoyment of the show, and her understanding of its cultural impact serve the story.

You'll probably enjoy this book if you've ever wondered about behind-the-scenes details about how the show was developed or cast. Or if you'd enjoy stories about how favorite episodes were made from the source. The creators, production, and the cast give candid details about their relationships, business dealings, and hi-jinks. Throughout the book, there are candid snapshots to aid the illustrations. This book is a perfect accompaniment to the iconic series.

I received an advance copy of this ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Wow! Extremely comprehensive behind the scenes look at The Big Bang Theory. In depth interviews with all the cast and crew. Despite being such a deep dive into the show, it's not at all boring! It was so interesting to learn about the original pilot, and how the series could have been different if some other ideas had been used.

I would call this the definitive read if you could only read one book about The Big Bang Theory, it's a must for all fans!

Thank you Netgalley, and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC!

An interesting and entertaining look behind the scenes of one of my favorite sitcoms. From its creation to its end, the cast, crew and guest stars share what it was like to be a part of the show. A must read for any fan or anyone interested in what goes happens when the camera is not on.

You will be hard pressed to find a better written account of The Big Bang!

Jessica Radloff does an outstanding job of gathering insight from cast, crew, production, family and friends of the beloved show that graced our televisions for twelve seasons. You can tell that hundreds, if not thousands of hours went into making this book. It truly is a a cumulative account that comes straight from those who were there.

Not only does the reader get to learn about their favorite show, but the talented actors that brought them to life. Radloff humanizes the highs and lows of making television, gaining mainstream success, and the business world of entertainment. While she has created personal relationships with them, she reports only the facts presented to her.

If you are a fan of all things The Big Bang, this is a must read! Even the biggest fans of the show will be shocked by some of the revelations found between the spine of this book!! It is an extraordinary oral history of the show!

Special thanks to NetGalley.com and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

“Well, I enjoyed that more than I thought I would.” (Sheldon Cooper) That’s an understatement, as this was so DELIGHTFUL! & CHARMING! & HEARTFELT!

It’s filled with touching, behind the scenes stories. I was truly enamored by some of the facts I discovered. It took me longer than usual to finish because I’d stop to explore something I learned about, like the flash mobs! Or I’d rewatch an episode being referenced with a new found appreciation and reverence. I’m now carefully observing every atom break!

I can’t wait to get a copy for my Mom, it’s such a perfect gift for a Big Bang Theory fan.

Thank you to the author & contributors for this wonderful creation!
Thank you to NetGalley & Grand Central Publishing for sending this book for review consideration.

I only watched Big Bang Theory for the first time in the spring/summer of 2020 and was quickly hooked. I watched all the dvd bonus features I could find. When I heard about Jessica’s book, I knew I had to read it. I received an advance copy thru NetGalley & it was everything I’d hoped for & more.

I have at least 50 antidotes bookmarked to discuss when my friends & fellow fans read the book. I’d seen/heard a few of these stories from the Big Bang deep dive 2 years ago, but there were many more new things, ranging from stories about casting (Kevin Sussman was almost cast as Howard?!) to storyline evolution to how the cast felt about being a part of a show as big as Big Bang.

The only thing that might disappoint a fan of Big Bang Theory about this book is that it’s not longer, and that it’s in print & we’re unable to watch Jessica’s hours of interviews with the cast, crew, & families involved in the show.

Oh my god this book was so good! It’s exactly what you’d want for a book on this show. You can feel the love of the show, the cast, and the characters on every page.

I was amazed at how much time everyone was willing to put in and tell their stories. I missed hearing from Brian Posehn though. I would have loved hearing about “Rock Show!”.

The book was really well written and covered everything you could want without a lot of dirt or scandal. I loved finding out more about Simon and Kunal because I didn’t know very much about them. I couldn’t recommend this book more!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy.

This is a fun book for fans of The Big Bang Theory television show. It includes interviews with the creators and producers of the show as well as the stars. Some parts are better than others, but I really enjoyed the details about the casting of the main characters and the story about the two pilot episodes! I also really liked the input from Mark Hamill who was a guest star on the show.

I liked reading the inside story about some of my favorite episodes and guest stars, such as Bob Newhart and Wil Wheaton. The information and photos that are in the book is interesting, but sometimes a little disjointed and incomplete which kept this from being a 5-star read for me.

I received an advance copy of this ebook from NetGalley and the publisher but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series by Jessica Radloff was a very interesting read about this hit show. The character names of Sheldon and Leonard came from an homage to TV producer-director-actor Sheldon Leonard.

The book discussed how each character was cast (especially Howard and Penny, who had different actors in the original pilot). The author talked about several of the episodes and even Kaley's haircut!

What was surprising was the death of Carol Ann Susi (who played Howard's mother). She had cancer in remission, but the cast found out it had come back about a week before she passed away. Very sudden.

Another interesting fact was the meals they ate were prepared with their personal tastes and preferences in mind.

This is a good read for fans of The Big Bang Theory who would like to get an even more in-depth look at the series and thoughts from the creators, writers, and actors.

This is an interesting and entertaining look at show - both how it was created to how the actors were selected, to commentary from the stars and key people. While this began a bit slowly, this was an interesting and insightful look into the series and its enduring popularity. Fans of the show will love this book.

If you have ever watched an episode or have watched all episodes multiple times of this amazing show then this book is for you! I love the fact that all of the cast participated in this book. It is a behind-the-scenes look at arguably the best sitcom ever made. I like many others fell in love with Sheldon Amy Penny Leonard Howard Bernadette and Raj and loved hearing the stories behind some of my favorite episodes. There are no dirty secrets or cat fights between the cast…simply a cast of actors who loved their characters and worked very hard to stay true to them. This was so well done and a must-read for any BBT lovers.

What a delightful read!

I'm not too much into popular tv shows, but I loved the Big Bang Theory and watched it from pilot to finale. Much of its appeal was the cast chemistry--you really can't imagine anyone else playing those parts. So it was really interesting to learn the "behind the scenes" of the casting process. I think the audience forgets (or isn't really privy to) the mess of the creative process; we see the perfect end product. I loved the format, a sort of interview process, of cast members, both full time and recurring characters, and the creators as they spoke about the show from its concept to its conclusion. The insight was very revealing--this will be a fun read for all fans of this program.

Thanks so much to Grand Central Publishing for making this available to read on NetGalley in exchange for a review.
