The first time I have read this author's work and I regret not starting this earlier. It is a dynamic roller coaster which loops you to present and 1982. When Sam gets a call that his estranged father of 18 years is dying, he rushes back to find a shocking reveal that his mother he thought died in a car accident when he was nine years old...is actually alive!! His dad never recovered creating a unhealthy childhood for Sam that reliving his past will pull at your heartstrings.

For twenty five years, he has believed his mother is dead and his mindset is shocked into reality to find out how she managed to stay away. This creates a dangerous web of lies and deception. There is plenty of fast-paced action that will leave you tense until the last page. It becomes a dark path with someone watching him and trying to stop him from finding out the truth.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I thought this book was exceptionally well-written. The transitions from the past to the present were sharp, the prose was strong, and the diction was enticing. I think this book is an excellent addition to the mystery genre.

Talk about family secrets and lies! Sam believes that his mother and brother died in the car crash 25 years ago. Or at least he does until his father confesses on his death bed that his mother Laurie is still alive. So what happened that night? Where is Laurie? And what about his brother? All questions Sam has to answer as he travels back to the US from the UK and finds there's more to all of it that he could have imagined. This has lots of twists, a group of thugs villains, a body count, and some slight melodrama. It moves back and forth in time and between the US and the UK, which works well with the plot. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. No spoilers for this page turner.

A lifetime of secrets are exposed when a phone call sets Sam in motion from the UK to the United States to find the mother that supposedly died when Sam was a child. Estranged from his father, nonetheless Sam heads to his deathbed. While there the last words whispered by his dad set Sam on a collision course with the truth of how and why his family imploded decades earlier.
A great premise that fell a little short on execution for me. Too much violence that unbelievably leaves Sam able to continue his quest while the body count rises became repetitive. Suspension of belief was strained a few times for me. On the other, it is a quick read with lots of bad guys and others that get their comeuppance and all the questions the reader has are answered.
Thank you to Sourcebooks for an early e-copy in exchange for honest review. All opinions are mine.

I just couldn’t get into the story or a characters but so much,. This is a very good author but it’s certainly not his best, I appreciate him trying to do something different but I would recommend sticking to what he knows. 3.5 rounded up

You Never Said Goodbye by Luca Veste is an action packed thriller. Sam grew up in England with just his dad, his mom and younger brother having passed away in a car wreck 25 years ago. Something happened several years ago that estranged Sam from his dad and he has moved away from his hometown and is starting a new relationship. He gets a call one night that his dad is in the hospital and has been attacked. When he goes to visit his dad, his dad tells him something shocking. As he is dying his dad tells him that his mom is still alive! This leaves Sam reeling. Unbeknownst to Sam, someone is tracking every member of his family down and killing them until they get to his mother. Who is it? What do they want? I really enjoyed the way this book was written. The present day story is interspersed with chapters from Sam’s mom Laurie back in the 1980s and 90s. It slowly reveals what happened back then and why someone is hunting down their family. This book was so full of action and suspense. Some of the action scenes were a little difficult for me to imagine by the description. I have not read a book by this author before but I definitely will now. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

You Never Said Goodbye by Luca Veste was a great book. A new to me author but will be reading more of these books. Follow Sam Cooper on his wild journey to find out if the deathbed confession his father made is true. Who can be trusted to help? I enjoyed the suspense in this book and recommend it.

All words and opinions are my own. I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion.

This was not my usual thriller ad it was action packed. Scenes and characters and thoughts and even narration jumped from one thing to the next leaving me a but dizzy. This isn't a bad book, just not MY kind of book. You never know what's going to happen next.

You Never Said Goodbye is the latest Luca Veste thriller that takes the reader on a long journey through the aftermath of a young woman’s attempt to escape from a domineering husband, one who appeared to have a small army of roughnecks to back him up. The story opens twenty-five years later as Laurie’s son Sam who is in London estranged from his father, the only parent he ever knew. His mother and younger brother died in a car crash in the river. But now two and a half decades later, the can of worms has been reopened and there are dangerous men who think Laurie is still alive and will do anything to find her. Sam is on his own against these people and he doesn’t know who to trust or what he’s supposed to believe.

This novel is filled with fast paced action, but the conceit is always that, like Sam, the reader doesn’t know exactly what’s going on or where things are going. Although this novel certainly holds one’s attention, the plot line generally feels forced And the character’s motivations are often left unexplored. Sam, in particular, is not necessarily searching for his mother and not necessarily hellbent on revenge. He really seems to have no idea what he’s doing or why. And, the idea that Anthony (the bad guy – the controlling husband) never found any of these people in this Internet age for 25 years seems a bit farfetched. Nevertheless, an enjoyable read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the Arc! This book was eventful from the beginning and the description interested me. I didn’t really vibe with it as much as I thought I would, but the writing was fine and the plot lived up to the summary overall.

I wasn’t really expecting any of what happened. There were a lot of plot twists and a lot of action. There was a lot going on at all times, everyone was constantly in motion. It wasn’t a bad book by any means, just not my usual type of read. If you’re into fast paced action, car chases, etc then this is the book for you!

TWs for; abuse, violence, guns, death, drowning, mentions of alcohol, fire

This was a great book with a nice and fast pace. I was not entirely shocked by the twists and turns, but sometimes that is okay.
