This was an entertaining read. I have not read book 1, but I felt it's not necessary since most of it is based on historical events and characters. In this story we follow Lucius Cassius from childhood to becoming Centurion in a Roman legion, fighting wars, marrying and starting a family until events heat up further in Germania.

I can recommend this to anyone who's interested in Roman history, especially the fact about how a legion is set up and organized was fascinating. It's not info-dumpy in the least and flows nicely along the plot.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Very cool! I don’t understand the science, but it’s better than magic. It’s great to see the modern world through eyes of a person from the past rather than seeing the past through modern eyes.

Not as good as the first one even if I enjoyed it. It's more historical fiction than paranormal thriller.
The author did a good job in writing the characters, the plot has hiccup but was entertaining.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
