Unfortunately this one is not for me and I don’t think I will finish it. I just cannot get into the characters at all and the writing style just doesn’t hit for me.

Naima Simone has quickly became one of my go-to romance authors and Ravaged did not disappoint! The dynamic between Miriam and Jordan introduced in the first Burned, Inc. novel promised a fiery and complicated relationship for this title, which Simone crafted perfectly. It took a little while for the story to get going, but once it did, it was a wonderful read.

Ravaged is the second book in Naima Simone’s Burned series; a series about three siblings who own and operate a “break-up” service to ease the sting of a relationship that isn’t going to continue. Ravaged was very good, I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as the first book but I think that’s because there wasn’t the excitement of finding out about the business and the background on the three siblings and why they do what they do. I did love Miriam and Jordan, they seem like such an opposites attract couple and while they are to some extent they are also very much alike in other ways.

When Miriam’s sister falls for Jordan’s best friend, they form a bit of a bond that leads to a one night stand which they immediately shove aside and become great friends and above all Miriam and Jordan are friends. The problem is they both still want one another with abandon, so much so that it messes with their heads, their hearts, and well…other parts of their bodies.

Jordan is an NBA player with an injury and is climbing the walls to get back on his team and Miriam, ahhhh Mensa Card carrying Miriam, she has a big secret that no one knows about and it is wonderful and amazing and so her. They make some missteps along the way like Jordan asking Miriam to go out with his widowed teammate, but it all falls back on their friendship, their mutual respect for one another, and the connection they can’t deny. With alternate points of view the reader is privy to every thought, the pining for one another, even the hurt they feel sometimes when the other one does something insensitive. I really felt I got to know and understand these characters well.

Friends to lovers, opposites attract, slow burn (if you don’t count that one instance before <wink>); Ravaged was equal parts sweet and sexy with a few surprises thrown in to make it even more interesting. This has been a strong series from Naima Simone; she has a unique voice as an author, one I really love reading and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the last unattached sibling, Levi, who remains a bit of a mystery.

As much as I've loved this author's work in the past, I just couldn't get into this one. Miriam and Jordan were fun in the first book as sidekicks, but here...not so much. This isn't to say that I didn't like them, but I didn't love them and their journey to their HEA wasn't all that fun for me, but that could have been because of the whole inner monologuing going on.

Moral of the story, find someone that is your 'Narnia'. GAHHHH! Sports Romance doesn't get any more adorkable than Ravaged. Naima Simone struck the perfect balance between funny and sweet, hearty and hot.

I read this directly after reading the first in the series, Heated, and it flowed perfectly. I instantly knew upon meeting Jordan and Miriam that I would love their story. This is friends to lovers that fight their feelings every step of the way, even to their detriment. There is so much mutual pining that you will ultimately combust from sexual tension between the two. However, Miriam lives out her love story through Savage Lands (her graphic novel). Naima decided to bless us with quotes from the novel at the beginning of each chapter leaving us with the need for a full story.

While there is a lot of swooning, the Burned series also has serious underlying themes that a well placed. Both Heated and Ravaged focus on the impact of parental relationships or the lack thereof. In Ravaged we were able to get a full picture of the toxicity of Miriam's parents which added to the understanding of the siblings.

I can't wait to read Levi's book! Hopefully I will be able to get another Advance reader copy from NetGalley!

Ravaged by Naima Simone is a friends-to-lovers romance focusing on Miriam, part owner of a break-up company, and Jordan, an NBA player. Ravaged is the second book in the Burned Inc series. Having read and enjoyed the first book in the series, Heated, I thought I would give Ravaged a go, despite friends-to-lovers not being one of my go-to tropes.

The premise of the story is that Miriam friend-zones Jordan as she has a no athlete dating policy, following her previously being hurt by an athlete. Jordan is the perfect gentleman and respects Miriam’s decision, allowing her time to change her mind and boy, does this man bide his time! He clearly has the patience of the saint, as it wasn’t until well over half-way through that they finally got it on. (The smut was worth the wait though!)

While I enjoyed the book, I didn’t feel it was Naima’s best. Unfortunately, I felt less connected to the characters in Ravaged than in Heated. Wish the break-up company, that Miriam was part owner of, was explored more, especially as I think this would have been quite an interesting concept. I do think that this exploration may have helped me to connect to Miriam more, however I can understand that this may have just been filler in the book and not really added anything to their story.

I liked the cover, but wish it was more reflective of the descriptions of Jordan, especially as we were told a few times about his appearance. I also liked that Ravaged connected to Heated, but it can be read as a standalone too. I’ll definitely be picking up any future works from Naima, I just hope I gel better with the characters next time. Naima Simone is a go-to author for me for a quick and sexy read, and she absolutely delivered on this one. I somehow missed the first book in the series but this one still worked well as a standalone.

This is EXACTLY what I wanted from an angsty, yearning best-friends-to-lovers romance. The angst starts right from the beginning and the tension was SO good. Watching Miriam and Jordan fight their attraction to each other made want to yell at them and just bang their heads together, which is absolutely the feeling I want to have in this kind of story.

Naima Simone's characters always feel so real, you can completely relate to what they're going through (even when they're being idiots!), and once they finally figure it out it's SO satisfying.

If you're looking for an angsty friends-to-lovers with excellent longing and sexual tension, you definitely can't go wrong here!

I am not sure that this was the read for me. I wanted to connect with the characters, as they were complex and had a good base for exploration. Unfortunately I just did not jive with them in a way that made this more enjoyable. The steamy times were amazing, but I just could not buy them as individuals and therefore not as a couple. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy this.

Delicious friends to lovers with lots of pining.

I loved how they were both unconditionally there for each other, even if it meant denying what they most wanted.

I loved book 1 in this series. Book 2, while good, has a bit of sophomore slump. The characters aren’t quite as charming, the plot not quite as believable nor as apt to move me to feel anything for little sis. I hope that I will see what always happens in trilogies, a third book that knocks it out of the park.

Well, I was not 'ravaged' by Ravaged.. This is a fairly average contemporary romance that I enjoyed but wasn't a stand out, five star read. I found the female main character's inner dialogue/thoughts to be a bit distracting - the biggest hindrance for me was the repetitive descriptions of the male main character over and over. Every time Miriam saw Jordan, it was a paragraph about his Viking good looks, his piercings, his blonde hair and his chiseled jaw line. I love when we get descriptors of the characters (I'm a visual reader) but this just got monotonous after the 3rd time it happened. Plus the cover model on the front of the book doesn't even match the description of Jordan, which is a bit confusing??

This was my first Naima book & I probably would only pick up another one if recommended by a fellow reader whose tastes I trust.

I was apprehensive about starting to read this one. Reading the first one was a bit of a struggle at first. This is a step up from the first book but not by much. Only because I really hated Miriam, there's no way to like her with how she is. And the build-up was just too slow and there's the thing with communication that's non-existent when things could have gone way better without that issue in it. And Jordan, he's too meek for me.

I enjoyed this book. The blurb lured me in and glad I gave it a shot. It was a fun, sexy read of friends to lovers and tons of sinful fun times.

I didn’t know this was a second book in a series but I understood just fine.
It was a good read with interesting characters. It can be read if you are looking for a fun time. Chemistry could be stronger but it’s my personal preference.
Can be read as a stand-alone i think.

Feelings caught, feelings hidden.
They had one hot night that casually happened while Miriam's sister and Jordan's best friend were developing their own relationship (book 1 Heated) and it was supposed to be nothing more than just that. They quickly construct a friend zone to keep things uncomplicated...supposedly.
I could practically paste a lot of my review from book 1 here. Such as: "I liked this book but I thought I would've liked it more. I really wanted to. The wordy over-description of everything got on my nerves. It was distracting." Etc., etc. I guess that's the writer's style - which is not bad - I guess I just maybe like my reading to be a little more bland?
Miriam's outlandish, rude, crude, very blunt, bratty personally works great as a side character but when she is the main character it's overwhelming.
I was disappointed in this follow-up to Heated. Again, I wanted to like it but just didn't. It was just okay.

This series is steaming up to be perfection. I love the family dynamic and their personalities are just everything. I need more naima!

Good friends Miriam and Jordan have been in the friendship zone ever since a hot hookup months ago. While both are harboring feelings, neither wants to wreck what they have now. And since one of them doesn’t believe in love, that seems likely. This slow burn, spicy contemporary romance also has elements of Cyrano and a good amount of time focusing on their careers and friendships, too. It was a quick, engaging read, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves a romance with a strong, independent heroine!

Jordan has been in love with Miriam almost since the minute they met. Miriam was hurt badly in the past by an athlete an believed they are all liars and cheaters. Miriam is a genius and always felt like an outcast because of how smart she is and being hurt in college only made her feel worse. Jordan is scared to tell Miriam how he really feels about her because she is so set on not ever falling in love for fear of getting hurt. Jordan really does love Miriam and it shows in how he helps another teammate try to win her heart but in doing so he ends up hurting her even more. I enjoyed this book a lot. It was nice to see the unrequited love from the man and Jordan really did try his best to be just a friend to Miriam letting her figure out how and when she was ready to be with him. There was no major drama or angst there was an issue they had to fight through, but I thought it was all written very well and not over dramatic.
