We really enjoyed this book for a few reasons. We love poppy flowers as they have a specific meaning to us as they remind us of my dad, my son's grandfather's nickname is poppy, and the illustrations were beautiful.

This cover in and of itself stole my breath away with its bright and beautiful vivid colors. This precious little story begins when the sun tells a little poppy that her time has come to bud and grow. The poppy ends up, by the end of the story, realizing how everything belongs together: the sun, moon, stars, earth, rain, bees, flowers, and more – and how they all need one another to survive and thrive. A precious story that will leave you feeling the beauty of nature and its brilliance, and will captivate your little one with its bright, joyous illustrations.

Wow, this is a really amazing and heartwarming book for children, which made me feel so emotional.

The story is about a poppy seed which grows into a plant and then it flowers. When it flowers, it meets its Mum and Dad and other family and friends in the garden.

We learn all about plants, nature, the sun, moon, the earth, and different insects, and how they are all connected.

The images in the book are really stunning, bright and beautiful.

This book really touched me, and I loved it so much! It is one of the best books I have read this year. I highly recommend it!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A beautiful story about the adventure of poppy, the little ladybug. Beautiful book.

I loved this one so much, I bought a hardcopy on Amazon so I could have it with me always. Not to read to little kids, but for me. The artwork is so beautiful, I know it will always bring a smile to my face on any gloomy day.

A new poppy blooms toward the sun, and finds itself surrounded by family, neighbors and friends. She learns about her small, but not insignificant, place in the world as a flower.

But as important as that lesson may be, LET'S TALK ABOUT THESE ILLUSTRATIONS! They grow as the poppy grows, into something gorgeous and almost magical. Even if the story doesn't wow you, I guarantee the illustrations will.

This story seems to end halfway through. Poppy is a flower, and she gets blown to a new location by the wind. She meets her mom and her dad and asks why no one can move. The story then tells you why they do not move and how everyone her helps everyone else. The story isn’t much however the illustrations are vibrant, bright, and beautiful.

We didn't get a chance to read Poppy's Own Spot before it was archived, but we were drawn in by the colorful cover images and nature-based story. We hope to read the book, soon. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

The illustration caught my attention straightaway, I like the bright and beautiful details in it. The story is simple and poetic. The illustration did a great job of depicting the story, the pace and the tone match the story. Although this type of stories is not my cup of tea, I would still say it did a good job and I believe its someone's cup of tea.

A naturalist tale of the lifecycle of flowers, with a bit of humanization thrown in. A poppy opens to the sun, and looks around to see its family. Mother, father, and siblings, there to provide the world with beauty, and the natural world with food.

The artwork itself is quite beautiful. It starts with more sparse plant life, in moonlight, but as the sun rises, our view is expanded to a vast hillside, full of different colors and types of flowers. It makes me wish I could have planted wildflowers this spring!

A cute pick for the nature lover in your life.

Advanced ready copy provided by the publisher.

Poppy’s Own Spot by Guido Van Genechten. I cannot wait to see this book in the store one thing I would like to see is the lettering small. For grandparents buying books this is a big concern. I think my two year old granddaughter would love the story. She loves stories about flowers and learning about the flower would be very educational.

Beautiful and poetic. All ages will enjoy how nature sustains itself in the season of a poppy flower. Vibrant colors come alive in the birth of a poppy flower. Starting with the seed and the brightness of the sun. It finds it self alone and then surrounded by beauty.

If you want your child to experience the love of growing flowers, the beauty of nature, this is a good resource for you both to share.

A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about a poppy seed that grows and blooms into a beautiful flower. Poppy realizes that he is important to the environment because he supports the bees and butterflies. I can see that this book could become a favorite among children. I normally do not read children’s books but I have seen some interesting and favorable reviews. I am happy to have been able to read and review this delightful little book.

The process of poppy blooming was carefully described. The words were so beautiful. Then, the painting was very nice and each flower and leaf was beautiful. The difference in color between night and day is also fascinating. It was a very nice book to learn about our relationship with nature. I can recommend it for kids to read, or for adults to read!

Poppys Own Spot is a beautifully illustrated book about a poopy seed blooming and learning about the world around. It also has an important lesson teaching, not just children, but anyone reading the book how important bees and flowers rely on each other.

I loved reading this to my son and showing him the beautiful illustrations. I will definitely be purchasing this so I can keep reading it to him as he grows.

Poppy's Own Spot had some beautiful illustrations to it. The variety of flowers in Poppy's Own Spot was beautiful and truly made the book so bright, and the petals on the poppy flowers reminded me of how Eric Carle illustrated his books. The book begins with a seed growing, and how it eventually blooms into a poppy. Throughout the book, the bugs of the flower field are shown, which is an important detail for later in the book. The book goes into how the flowers are all related, and now the bugs are as well as they all help each other grow, but it does seem to end a bit suddenly.

Poppy Own Spot

I'm not going to lie, I chose this book because I love the illustrator. I loved their colorful, cute style, and this book delivers. This book is an adorable picture book that follows Poppy, as she grows from a seed to a flower. She meets friends, family and neighbors that live nearby and learns about her place in the world. She learns a valuable lesson. We all have our part to play. I would recommend this to toddlers with a love of nature.

Thank you, NetGalley and Clavis Publishing, for providing me with a digital ARC for an honest review.
