Cute graphics and simple story makes it easy for young children to stay engaged with. A good option to read if you are preparing for your first camping trip and want to easily introduce the concept to your little ones. Not something I feel compelled to read again, necessarily, but it was poetic and enjoyable.

This book is just so-so. It is set up as a simple board book about a family going camping. They are going to do an activity; they’re going to see some animals. If this book had rhymed or had a cadence it would’ve been 100% better. The first stanza on each left-hand page had a bit of a cadence and it was blown when it got to the right-hand page. It just altogether did not work however the illustrations are cute and welcoming.

Cute illustrations with a story that tells what the kids are doing and what the animals in the woods are doing at the same time.

A very cute book about camping. The illustrations are fun, and the rhyming cadence of the book works well to tell the story.

This was a super cute and will be a fun board book to add to Baby's library. The illustrations are bright and colourful. There are some great vocabulary words in the text as well.

"Out the door, down the stairs
Chatting, chirping jays.
In the car, winding roads
Dozing, snoozing bears."

From the get-go this delightful book oozes adventure, excitement and happiness. Who doesn't love a-camping-outdoor's experience? An adorable duo, a brother and sister, are about to go on their first camping trip and they are wound up and ready to discover all the joy that it can bring.

The reader is invited to come along and join in their merriment as they set up their tent (with the help of a huge moose ), swim in the lake (surrounded by floating loons ), and enjoy great fun around the evening campfire ( singing and laughing and hooting as they call owls). Not only do the kids have a blast but the animals that they encounter share their enthusiasm and mimic the things that the kids are engaged in.

The artwork is colourful, full of activity and detail. The text is limited to one sentence per page making it a great book for beginning readers to tackle and it is a great vocabulary builder. Overall the book is a celebration of camping in the wild and lends itself to a great read aloud as well. Kids will love the book and I highly recommend it.

This was perfect my my animal loving early reader! The illustrations are bright and colorful and she loved that the animals matched with what the siblings were doing. This was great reading practice with simple but fun words for her to read on her own. This was great for a summer bed time story. Thank you to the publishers for providing us with an ARC!

An interesting approach to an early reader about a day setting up at a campsite and beginning a holiday. The family, clearly coloured if that happens to matter to you, leave home, drive to the site, pitch the tent, and then enjoy the beach, the woods – and then campfire songs and spooky stories under the stars to close. The unusual aspects are in the text, and its brevity, and what the images are doing. Every recto page is a portrait of animals, defined and given two descriptive adjectives – "hopping, bouncing hares", for example. Now these could easily be the critters already at the campsite, but they could also equate to the children involved, and everywhere apart from sleepy bears when they look actively to be watching the landscape from the car the animals could be the kids' equivalent and not just thereabouts to be spotted or not. The script then, with that formula on the recto pages and just a snippet of more narrative writing on the verso, is practically poetry, meaning there is a lot here to stand out for being unexpected. I'm not saying it's brilliant and a world-beating game-changer of a difference, but this is certainly not what I thought to find. With very cartoonish design this is a more than reasonable early reader, but whether the audience will get the connection between the animals and the humans unaided remains to be seen.

Each page has six words or less. The pictures and words make you feel like you are really going from city into nature.

Adorable picture book that beautifully describes the greatness of camping. The images complements the story perfectly and the moles were adorable. I will buy this book for all tiny humans in my life, I'm sure they will love it as much as me

What a super fun, engaging ode to the joys of camping! A young brother and sister enjoy all the joys of nature and their adventures are echoed by lots of animals along the way. The illustrations are so vivid and colorful--kids will love noticing all the little details. They will also enjoy identifying the various critters and laughing at their antics. The word choices are very lively and expressive, so this could also be a great vocabulary-builder. This would be a fantastic circle-time read and could spark lots of interesting discussions!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a beautifully illustrated book about a young brother and sister taking a camping trip. Their activities are mirrored on the opposite page by animals doing similar activities. It’s a simple picture book, perfect for bedtime that will hopefully encourage your family to get outside and go camping. My kids thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you NetGalley and Nimbus Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.

"Wild about Camping" is a children's picture book for very young children and would be an excellent read-aloud book. Full color pictures show a brother and sister going on camping trip. Similar to Peanuts stories with Charlie Brown, no adults are shown, although they must surely be there driving the car, starting the fire, cooking the food. The children's activities are echoed by woodland animals doing similar things on the facing page.
"In the lake on our backs
Floating, bobbing loons."
Lilting text and onamotapia make for a calming and easy read. Reminds me of "Goodnight Moon". Pictures are simple and cute. I recommend this book for families with infants and toddlers.

I received a digital copy of this book in excuse for my honest review for Netgalley.

Wild About Camping is a cute, easy-to-read book with beautiful and colorful illustrations. The structure of the book makes it easy for young readers to try reading this story on their own. I loved seeing the two young campers on one side of the book and then the different wildlife animals doing similar things.

A fun little story about camping and all the fun activities you get to do. Thank you NetGalley and Nimbus Publishing for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Wild About Camping is a good fun clear-to-follow illustrated primer for camping with young children by Jane Whittingham. Any book encouraging children to explore the outdoors is a great idea. Mine were very receptive and we are going camping… so that's hugely useful. We will take it with us but perhaps understandably it would not be a go-to title for every bedtime.

The illustrations were absolutely beautiful and I was so excited be the title Wild about Camping. Unfortunately, I’m not wild about the book. I would have enjoyed it better if there was a clearer storyline. Though this a good quick bedtime story for children under 2.
