You would think by now I wpd be used to Alice's twists but this one! I really enjoyed this book. It isn't like the others out there on the market and that makes it a refreshing suspense to read because you can't predict everything!

Finally! A netgalley audiobook that is listenable at more than 1x. There's still a tinny reverb as the speed increases, but the narrator was so engaging that it wasn't distracting. I love a good Alice Feeney book. This one was overhandedly a love story to Agathe Christie, but I didn't mind the big "twist" when we understand the characters' motivations. Feeney has the skill to make character development a facet of a fast-paced story and not rely on tropey gimmicks. This is my favorite of hers so far.

After reading this twisty thriller I guess it is true that family reunions can be murder. Daisy Darker’s family hasn’t seen each other in a while but that’s about to change as they all come together at Nana’s house which is located on an island that is isolated when the tide comes in. Every single member of the Darker family has secrets and they’re all about to be revealed while the tide has trapped them there on the tiny island for 8 hours. The first to die is poor Nana and as the rest of the family hurriedly tries to unravel what’s going on more of them start to die one by one.

This story was very reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There We’re None” mystery in the best possible way as the author leads us from clue to clue and still we are stunned at the reveal. I love how atmospheric the old gothic Victorian house was on the remote island especially with the storm playing role in the story. I love how dysfunctional the family was and how easily all their flaws and quirks came off the page as I continued to read. The twists that the author threw at readers kept me on my toes and unable to put the book down until I flipped to the last page. This was a highly engrossing mystery thriller that had me guessing what was going on the whole time. I loved the perfect pace of the novel as the author easily kept the tone of the book tense but was able to switch seamlessly between the two different time lines. Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook copy of this title. I loved listening to the audio because the narrator was perfect and kept my attention throughout the whole story. I would recommend this fast paced, and entertaining mystery thriller to anyone who enjoys locked room mysteries, autumn/ Halloween books that offer the perfect creepy atmosphere, and Agatha Christie’s whodunit with clever twists.

I quite enjoyed this one. The setting was fantastic, almost like a character itself and I have to say, the narrator made the story for me. She was wonderful and did the job of portraying Daisy so well. 3.5/stars.

Daisy Darker pays homage to Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. Daisy's family has been invited to Nana's gothic house Sea Glass on a tidal island on the Cornish Coast. They are there to celebrate Nana's 80th birthday. Nana is a celebrated author and illustrator of the beloved children's book Daisy Darker and Her Little Secrets. Invited to the party in addition to Nana and Daisy are Daisy's sisters Rose and Lily, Lily's daughter Trixie, divorced parents Nancy and Frank and childhood friend Connor. At midnight Nana is found dead. Hour by hour more family members meet their demise. Is some unknown person stalking them one by one or is it one of them??

Daisy Darker was a wild ride. There were several twists...and even a few I didn't see coming!!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an advance copy for me to review!

Wow! What can I even say about this book? I'm not going to lie, at first I was just the tiniest bit of turned off because it came off very Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None"-ish. Yes, I know, it's horrible for me to say that was a turn off! Haha. But I'm glad I kept going anyway because this was such a great book. Daisy and her family have been apart for quite some time and there's definitely some tension, so you knew something bad was going to happen when they all gathered together for Nana's birthday. One tragedy follows another until everyone is on edge. The twist at the end of this thriller was not something I saw coming and not my normal reading style. However, I do think it worked out alright in this case. Would definitely recommend!

Dysfunctional family drama / thriller! Don’t mind if I do! It took me a minute to get into the audio, but I have the hard copy and home and y’all, Alice Feeney does it again. She always leaves me mind blown and wanting MORE! Of course I did not see what was coming at the end, even though some people were able to guess the twists. I never think too hard about it so I am always pleasantly surprised!

Thank you to NetGalley, Alice Feeney, Stephanie Racine, and Macmillan Audio for providing this e-ARC audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I did not receive this audiobook prior to Daisy Darker’s publication, but that doesn’t change the story at all!

Omg!! Alice Feeney is a amazing! The twists and turns always get me. When I think they are over, they aren’t! I am not going to write a full review for this one because part of it is the surprise of the story! Absolutely loved it!

The narration of the story really helped to set the scene. I was constantly feeling creeped out. It was super easy to listen to and I felt like Stephanie Racine really brought the characters to life. One of my favorite narrations!

I thought I would be in a book slump after my last read, but I was able to keep cruising with Daisy Darker and I’m super happy about it! This is the perfect book to pull you out of a book slump, and the perfect book for spooky season. I’m super excited to recommend this one to all of my friends!

This review will be posted to my Goodreads and Amazon accounts immediately and to my instagram account (@ginganinja333), and to my newly created bookstagram (@paulas.book.nook) as well.

For the majority of this book, I was CONVINCED it would be a five star read for me; however, the weird paranormal twist toward the end was not for me. I have seen plenty of reviews that prove most LOVED the twist, but for me it ruined what I thought would be a carefully planned out, completely mind-blowing conclusion. I was disappointed to say the least, so because of this, I knocked it down to four stars.

I listened to the audiobook, which was fantastic! Excellent narrator!

This twisty thriller had me hooked from the beginning. I loved the narration by Stephanie Racine. She did an excellent job with all of the characters and really brought the story to life. This locked room mystery set on a tidal island is in the vein of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. It included murder, disappearing bodies and a big twist at the end. I loved the poetry included in the story and how it kept me guessing what would happen next. This is my first book by Alice Feeney but I am adding the rest of her books to my TBR list.

I received a complimentary copy of this audio book from Macmillan Audio through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

When Nana is turning 80-years old on Halloween and invites you to visit her at her tired, gothic-feeling home on a tiny, tidal island, you go. Even if you can't stand the rest of your family, you go. And that's indeed what happens for Daisy Darker's family, assembled via Nana's wishes for the first time in years.

Nana's been a little fixated on her 80th ever since that palm reader told her it would be her last birthday. In fact, it may be because of this that she has chosen this birthday to gather her entire family, including her son, Frank, ex-daughter in law, Nancy, three granddaughters, Rose, Lily and Daisy, one great-granddaughter, Trixie and a man named Connor, who has been a sort of unofficial member of the Darker family for years, to air some things. This also may be the reason why she decides to read her Will to them all that night.

All are not necessarily pleased by Nana's proclamations, but what can they do. What's done is done, isn't it? As the clock strikes midnight, Nana's crumpled body is then discovered on the floor of the kitchen. She's dead, but was it an accidental fall, or did something more sinister happen?

After Nana's death, everyone is panicked. It's creepy being trapped on a remote island with a dead body, but there's literally no way off and a storm has halted communication with the mainland. The fun doesn't stop there though, think And Then There Were None. No one is safe...

Daisy, the youngest of the granddaughters, has always been Nana's favorite, even though she's been mistreated by the rest of her family for years. Well, that's not necessarily true, Trixie, Lily's often-neglected daughter, is always kind to her Aunt Daisy, so at least Daisy has two allies within the family; not a total loss.

This story is actually narrated entirely by Daisy, so getting insights into the family from her perspective is quite interesting indeed. She doesn't hold back any punches when describing her relatives, that's for sure. In addition to the present drama, we also get a past perspective, taking us through Daisy's childhood and most memorable times at the Darker seaside manor. Connor, the man mentioned above, is a large part of these childhood memories, as that's when he first came on the scene and essentially became a member of the family.

I had a fantastic time with this book. The audiobook absolutely enraptured me. Bloody brilliant narration! There was so much about this that I loved, from the classic-feeling mystery vibe, to the over-the-top family drama, bad-acting characters and claustrophobic setting.

This is my favorite book of 2022 so far and something superbly jaw-dropping would have to come along to change that, I think. This is next level. I just loved how this story was told. The set-up at the house with Nana was terrific, the use of the creepy poems to enhance the mystery, as well as the alternating timelines helped to build-out this story beautifully. If I were to wish upon a star, I would wish that I had written this book. Alas, I am pretty sure that doesn't work and Alice Feeney beat me to it. Perfection.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Macmillan Audio, for providing me with a copy to read and review. This blew me away. What a delight!

Thank you to NetGalley for my audio-arc!

Not even one second in and my jaw dropped… the authors note… is that real?! I instantly had to Google and luckily didn’t come across any spoilers - just told to keep reading.

This book hit me hard with all of the Nana talk. My Nana passed just under a year ago and so at first this one was hard for me to get into. The quote that really struck me was when Daisy said “My nana was the only person that loved me unconditionally” 😭

However this book was full of laughter, tears, and definitely page turning twists! One of my favourite parts was at the start when Nana starts reading her will… talk about a truth bomb 👀

Overall I though this book was fantastic. I love the way that Alice Feeny writes a book that draws me in but then once it’s over it leaves me speechless. If you enjoyed her previous novel ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ or just want a mystery you’ll be thinking about for days, then I highly recommend this one.

Dark, Atmospheric, Twisty, and Turny. Now that’s my kind of Mystery/Thriller!

Does anyone want to take a trek to Nana’s House? I think I’ll pass!

Nana lives on a remote Tidal Island in a Gothic House, cut off from the world when the tide comes in.

Daisy Darker and her family are having a party for Nana’s 80’th birthday, taking place on Halloween of all days! Oh, what fun! Secrets are the name of the game, and everyone in attendance is hoping their own will be kept under lock and key.

Everyone is gathered at Seacrest for the reading of Nana’s will.

Then the clock strikes twelve and someone loses their life.

As the hour's tick by, everything goes awry.

What can I say except that this is not the kind of party I’d ever want to attend!

Daisy Darker was a clever, dark, intriguing thriller that kept me on my toes throughout.

A buddy listen with Kaceey!

Thanks to MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for the alc.

If you love Agatha Christie then will enjoy 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘳! It is written in the tradition of 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘯𝘦 and I think it is one of the best novels patterned after this one that I have read! I loved the locked-room atmosphere as this family was stuck on an island not accessible during high tide as, one by one, people were murdered. If you enjoy disappearing bodies, cryptic messages written as nursery rhymes, and Halloween stories then you will definitely want to add this to your fall TBR list!

I alternated reading and listening to this one. The narrator was perfect for this story and she did an excellent job.

My thanks to @NetGalley and @MacMillianaudio for my copy. My thoughts are my own.

Let me preface this review by saying I am a huge Alice Feeney fan. Rock Paper Scissors continues to be a favorite of mine, but this one fell flat for me. While I loved the audiobook narrator, sadly I didn't find any of the characters relatable and really struggled with the story.

Thank you so much NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my review.

Thank you so much to the publishers and NG for sending me this audiobook! I loved it and it was so WELL DONE! I really enjoy Alice Feeney books and I thought the narrator was perfect, I was engaged the whole time and shocked at the end!

This was my first Alice Feeney book but not my last! I really enjoyed this one.

I listened to the whole book in under two days, it was very suspenseful and bingeable. I really needed to know what was coming next. I was constantly questioning myself on who I should trust and who I definitely should NOT trust. I guessed correctly a few times but there was still enough of a twist to make me feel surprised at the end. It was not scary at all but still entertaining. The narrator did a great job.

After the final reveal I am going to reread the print copy of the book to see where the clues were hidden. When I want to reread to see the little clues along the way, it is a book I really enjoyed.

'Daisy Darker' is my favorite book by Alice Feeney! The author always throws some huge twists in her books and this one was ginormous!! With that being said, I did assume what was going on and ended up being correct, but this did not take away from the enjoyment of reading this great book! I did not connect with any of the characters and thought they were all despicable but in the end, there was a little redemption. There's not much to say about the plot that hasn't already been said and it would be very easy to throw out a spoiler unintentionally so I'll just stop here and advise that you avoid reading too many reviews and go in blind for this one!

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good book! This book is available now!!

I kept hearing really good reviews about this book and was excited to read it. Alice Feeney is known for her twists in her novels. This time I figured out the big twist almost immediately which was kind of disappointing. There were more twists at the end, which earns it 3 stars, but overall I just felt the story didn’t grab me. Also the majority of the characters are unlikeable which makes it hard to feel much empathy when the murders begin.
Alice Feeney remains an interesting author and I will continue to read her books, this one just didn’t grab me like some of her others.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great storytelling and amazing plot twist that is The author’s signature move now. The Darker family are all very un likable. The audio narration is stellar. I would be surprised if you guessed the twist
Without peaking at spoilers.
